NFL Week 10: Let’s make some money parlay

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday at 8:25 a.m. ET. All games Sunday and ET unless noted.

Leg 1: Browns at DOLPHINS -3.5 (-115) – 1 p.m. (CBS)

The Dolphins have been playing extremely well since QB Tua Tagovailoa returned from his concussion. They’ve won the last 2 games on the road, 31-27 against the Detroit Lions and 35-32 against the Chicago Bears. While these teams are not great, neither are the Browns. And with Miami returning home for this game, they will be ready to show why the Bills need to be worried about them in the AFC East Division.

WR Tyreek Hill is having an MVP-level season with 4 games of 150 or more receiving yards. The Dolphins have found something potentially special with Hill and Tagovailoa and Jaylen Waddle staffing the WR 2. They will use this talent and outright speed to throw all over the Browns secondary, which is still banged up. Even after the bye week.

The Browns are 1-dimensional at this point. It is the run game of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt which leads the way. I do not think it will be enough in this game. So, I will take the DOLPHINS -3.5 (-115) as the 1st part of my parlay.

Leg 2: Colts at Raiders OVER 42.5 (-110) – 4:05 p.m. (CBS)

What are the Colts thinking? This is the question of the week. And no one has an answer.

The Colts hiring Jeff Saturday to be coach has shown they are folding the tents on the season and packing it in. This is wonderful for their opponents, who are still playing for something. In the case of Las Vegas coach Josh McDaniels, it might be his own job. Can you imagine McDaniels losing this one to the team he spurned? I think he would get fired if he did. But the Raiders’ moneyline of -6 is too high. So, I will make a play on the total.

The Raiders can score and with a new play caller in Indianapolis, the Colts are going to look to have some fun. Defense will not be optional in this game, but it will not be a major factor either.

I expect some scoring in this matchup. So, getting the OVER at only 42.5 (-110) is a suitable number and one I am willing to bet on as the 2nd leg of my parlay.

Leg 3: Cardinals at Rams OVER 41.5 (-105) – 4:25 p.m. (FOX)

Rams CB Jalen Ramsey and company have not been the same elite defense as it has been in recent years. With WR DeAndre Hopkins back for QB Kyler Murray, the Cardinals will put up points in this game. The Cardinals defense is equally as bad … especially with FS Budda Baker injured.

Rams QB Matthew Stafford has had a miserable season after winning the Super Bowl. This Cardinals defense could be at least a 1-week cure for the QB and an offense which needs to get going.

Arizona RB James Conner returned last week against the Seattle Seahawks. After another week to get healthy, Conner and RB Eno Benjamin will be able to run on the Rams defense and help the Cardinals score.

Arizona is coming off a 31-21 loss to Seattle and it will be able to score equally as well on L.A. Now, we just need the Rams to hold up their end of the bargain. I am betting they will.

Parlay payout: Bet $10 to win $69.68 (profit $59.68).

Leg 4-*: Jaguars at CHIEFS -9.5 (-110) – 1 p.m. (CBS)

*-If you want to add a 4th play to this parlay:

The Chiefs are coming off a hard-fought win last week against the Tennessee Titans. A game which saw them claw back from a 17-9 deficit to send the game to overtime before managing a 20-17 victory by QB Patrick Mahomes. This game should not be as close.

Jacksonville was able to make a comeback of its own in Week 9, rallying  from a 17-point deficit to beat Las Vegas 27-20. But that was against the Raiders, a team that has now blown three 17-point leads this season. Kansas City will take a similar lead. But it will not give it up. I will fly with the CHIEFS -9.5 (-110) as a play here if you want to add a 4th leg.

Parlay payout: Bet $10 to win $133.08 (profit $123.08).

*-If you want to substitute one of the above, here’s another option:

VIKINGS +3.5 (-110) at Bills – 1 p.m. (FOX)

This is only a play if QB Josh Allen is confirmed out for the Bills.

This line started at Bills -6.5 and has fallen due to the uncertainty around Allen’s shoulder. If he is confirmed out, this will fall even further. I do not see backup QB Case Keenum leading the Bills to a victory … even at home. Getting the Vikings at a plus-number is a great wager.

Bears playoff push: Cardinals QB Kyler Murray says he’ll play Sunday vs. Rams

The Bears can get in the playoffs with a Cardinals loss. And Cardinals QB Kyler Murray insists he’ll play vs. Rams on Sunday.

The Chicago Bears are just one win away from securing a playoff berth in the NFC. They’ll face a Green Bay Packers team with plenty to play for, as they’re looking for the No. 1 seed, which includes a first-round bye and home field advantage.

But there’s still another path to the playoffs for Chicago if they happen to lose to Green Bay, which is going to require some help from the Los Angeles Rams. The Rams will host the Arizona Cardinals, who need to lose in order for the Bears to clinch that seventh seed.

While there was some uncertainty with Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray’s status — as he injured his lower leg on the final play of last Saturday’s loss against the San Francisco 49ers — Murray insists that he’ll suit up against the Rams on Sunday.

Which isn’t good news for the Bears, as the Rams will be without starting quarterback Jared Goff, who had surgery on his right thumb and will miss Week 17. That means it’s up to backup quarterback John Wolford to get it done…without receiver Cooper Kupp, who’s on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

The good news is that the Rams have a formidable defense that’s sure to give Murray and Arizona’s offense fits on Sunday. Look at what the 49ers did last week, where the defense frustrated Murray and that offense all game, and San Francisco came away with the win.

When all is said and done, the Bears ultimately control their own playoff destiny. If they win, they’re in. Simple as that. Even if that means slaying Goliath in a pivotal match-up against the Packers.

Bears playoff push: Jared Goff, Kyler Murray are uncertain for Week 17

The Bears can make the postseason with a Cardinals loss in Week 17. And injuries to Jared Goff and Kyler Murray are worth monitoring.

The Chicago Bears are entering the most important week of their 2020 season with a postseason berth on the line in Week 17.

The good news is that the Bears are in control of their own destiny. If they win on Sunday, then they’re in. The only problem is they’ll host the Green Bay Packers, a team that will be playing for the No. 1 seed and a first-round bye. It doesn’t help that Green Bay has had Chicago’s number for the better part of a decade-plus.

But the Bears can also snag that seventh seed in the NFC with some help from the Los Angeles Rams, who will host the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday. If the Cardinals lose to the Rams, it won’t matter if Chicago wins or loses to Green Bay. But if Arizona beats Los Angeles and the Bears lose, Chicago will be ousted from the playoffs.

To make matters worse, there’s a mess of injuries that threaten that Rams-Cardinals match-up, which includes both starting quarterbacks.

Rams quarterback Jared Goff suffered what’s believed to be a broken right thumb in last Sunday’s loss to the Seattle Seahawks, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter. While it was originally believes that the injury would end Goff’s season, he is meeting with Dr. Steven Shin for another opinion. While Goff will indeed need surgery on his thumb, he might be able to play through the injury. Still, his status for Sunday’s game is uncertain.

Then there’s Cardinals quarterback Kyler Murray, who suffered what Arizona head coach Kliff Kingsbury called a “lower leg injury” in the closing seconds of last Saturday’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers. Murray remained on the ground for a good while before leaving the field. Schefter notes that Murray’s status for Sunday is also uncertain.

At this point, it sounds like Murray has more of a shot to play than Goff, but we’ll have to see how this week shakes out. But if both can’t go, it’ll be Rams backup quarterback John Wolford and Cardinals backup quarterback Chris Streveler. Both have never attempted a pass in the NFL.

This situation will be worth monitoring heading into a pivotal Week 17 contest, which will be played at the same time that Chicago will be hosting Green Bay at 3:25 p.m. CT.

Bears vs. Packers will now kickoff at 3:25 pm CT in Week 17

The NFL has announced schedule changes for the final week of the 2020 regular season, which includes pushing Bears-Packers to the late game.

With several games with playoff implications happening in Week 17, the NFL has announced schedule changes for the final week of the 2020 regular season.

The Chicago Bears are just one win — or one Arizona Cardinals loss — away from clinching a playoff spot. But the red-hot Green Bay Packers are standing in their way.

Chicago and Green Bay were set to kickoff at noon CT next Sunday. But with the playoff implications of Bears vs. Packers and Cardinals vs. Rams, both games will now kickoff at 3:25 p.m. CT.

There are several scenarios that would result in Chicago locking up a postseason berth, which starts with the Bears simply winning their final game. But nothing has been easy for this team this season, especially when it’s the hated Packers coming to town.

Chicago could also clinch a playoff spot with a Cardinals loss to the Rams in Week 17, which should be interesting considering Los Angeles quarterback Jared Goff suffered what’s feared to be a broken right thumb.

The Bears could even clinch as high as the No. 6 seed in the NFC with a win over the Packers and a Cardinals win over the Rams, eliminating Los Angeles from playoff contention.
