Cardinals’ Budda Baker always makes it hard to cross the Red Sea

Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker doesn’t let offensive players cross the Red Sea without feeling his physical presence.

Arizona Cardinals safety Budda Baker and the defense weren’t flawless in the 28-27 win over the Miami Dolphins, but they did just enough to get their offense the ball back in clutch time.

Baker leads the Cardinals with 79 total tackles through eight weeks and hasn’t been shy about sticking his nose in on every down. Once rookie defensive lineman Darius Robinson returns, Baker will be able to increase his utility, working as a blitz component, quarterback spy, or stealth robber in shell coverage to confuse opponents.

The Cardinals are struggling to stop the run and Robinson was drafted to help in that department but the unit is showing glimpses of determination.

Fans know that Baker aims to make defenders pay for coming across the middle of the field and he finished NFL Week 8 with 12 total tackles. Thus far Baker has shown to be the most physical player on the Cardinals defense and trying to cross his path is like the Egyptians trying to cross the Red Sea.

Cardinals haven’t had calls about No. 4 pick yet

General manager Monti Ossenfort believes the calls will come closer to the draft.

The Arizona Cardinals made multiple trades during last year’s NFL draft. They have the fourth overall pick this year and many wonder if they will active traders again.

However, nothing has happened yet.

General manager Monti Ossenfort hasn’t even had a phone call, he told reporters at the NFL combine.

“I’m not surprised,” he said. “We’re sitting here at the end of February; we’ve got a ways to go on that. I think everybody’s still in the middle of their evaluation process. There’s a lot of unknowns. I think those discussions happen the more we get closer to the draft in April.”

Even with multiple deals last year, they had not had any talks at this point a year ago.

“I’m sure those calls will come,” he said. “We’re going to make our fair share of calls, too.  I think last year we proved that we were more than willing to move up to move back, to stay put and pick. I think those discussions will come further down the road.”

The NFL draft is April 25-27.

Look: Kyler Murray receives interesting chess set

He gets a Chipotle-inspired chess set.

Kyler Murray is a football phenom and is the future of the Arizona Cardinals at quarterback, but football wasn’t his only talent growing up. As we learned from an ESPN story back from last October, Murray also was a very good chess player growing up.

He is also apparently a big fan of the restaurant Chipotle.

He received a celebrity Chipotle card and also a chess set, but the chess set doesn’t have the typical pieces. This one has a burrito for the king, an avocado for the queen, chipotle peppers as the pawns, drinks for the rooks, footballs for the bishops and bags of chips for the knights.
