[autotag]Nick Saban[/autotag] has built a football program known for its excellence on the football field. Something that often gets overlooked is the success that the Crimson Tide football players have had in the classroom. On Wednesday, the official Twitter account of the Alabama football team released a graphic that displayed the academic prowess of the football team.
Alabama’s Academic Progress Rate (APR) score for the 2021-22 school year was an impressive 995 which was good enough for 1st in the SEC and 4th nationally. Only Clemson, Wisconsin, and Northwestern ranked ahead of the Crimson Tide.
The APR scores highlight which universities’ student-athletes remain enrolled or earn their diplomas at the highest rates. Each term, student-athletes earn one point for remaining academically eligible and one point for staying in school or graduating. Every Division I team divides its total points by points possible, then multiplies that percentage by 1,000 to determine its APR. Student-athletes who transfer from one university to another still accumulate points as long as they remain in good academic standing.
