WATCH: Chiefs QBs Patrick Mahomes, Shane Buechele training together in Dallas

Offseason training is officially underway for #Chiefs QBs Patrick Mahomes and Shane Buechele.

Offseason training is officially underway for Kansas City Chiefs QBs Patrick Mahomes and Shane Buechele.

Just a week after football season concluded, both players are back in action getting their bodies prepared for the 2022 NFL season. With the disappointing end to the 2021 NFL season, it’s a safe bet that both Mahomes and Buechele were anxious to get back to work.

The two Texas natives just so happen to be training together to kick off the offseason and this probably won’t be the last time they cross paths. Mahomes and Buechele’s trainer, Bobby Stroupe, posted a short teaser of the two players getting some work in at the Athlete Performance Enhancement Center (APEC) Dallas-Fort Worth facilities.

Check out the clip of the two players stretching down below:

Mahomes has been training with Stroupe and APEC since he was in grade school. They’ve developed a unique routine over the years that is really catered to his skill set and body. The same goes for Buechele, Mecole Hardman, Bobby Witt Jr. and all the other athletes who work with APEC and Stroupe.

This is a good opportunity for Buechele to work alongside Mahomes. The second-year quarterback out of SMU is expected to be the No. 2 quarterback in Kansas City next season with Chad Henne slated for free agency. Mahomes had high praise for Buechele and his work ethic after his promotion to the 53-man roster during the 2021 season. Offseason training should only strengthen the bond they already share.

WATCH: Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes’ offseason workout video

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes has been putting in work during the 2020 NFL offseason.

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes continues to work toward refining his body during the 2020 NFL offseason.

Mahomes shared a new video cut-up on Twitter featuring his offseason workouts with Bobby Stroupe at Athlete Performance Enhancement Center (APEC) in Texas. Mahomes has been training with Stroupe since he was in fourth grade and they’ve developed a unique routine over the years. Mahomes credits the work they’ve done together over the years for a lot of his success on the field.

While the workouts do include some of the normal things you’d see from NFL quarterbacks, it also includes some things that are specific to Mahomes’ playstyle. Check out the video down below:

Stroupe works with Mahomes to reset his body after the season, working on things like movement patterns, mobility, stability, tissue extensibility. When you see Mahomes make a throw off-platform — one that he’s not supposed to be able to make — this is the type of training and preparation that helps make those throws possible.

With training camp just around the corner, we’ll soon see the results of the work that Mahomes has put in during this offseason.

WATCH: Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes throwing with former Cowboys WR Dez Bryant

Mahomes and Bryant are training together at APEC’s Dallas-Fort Worth location.

Kansas City Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes didn’t wait long after Super Bowl LIV to get back on the grind.

He took time off after the conclusion of the season, but he’s since headed out to Texas for some offseason training at APEC’s facilities in Dallas-Fort Worth. Mahomes has been training with Bobby Stroupe and APEC since he was in the fourth grade. He’s been a big advocate for their unique and tailor-made training regimens.

Today, Mahomes was spotted training with former Cowboys WR Dez Bryant. They did everything from conditioning work to some throwing work and route drills. Bobby Belt of CowboysCast and Jon Machota of The Athletic captured the training session.

Bryant and Mahomes both grew up in East Texas, so there’s big mutual respect between the two.

Bryant is training at APEC in an attempt to revitalize his career. He wants to play in the NFL in 2020 after being a free agent for the 2019 season. Catching passes from the Super Bowl MVP will certainly help toward that goal.

It looks like Bryant already has the timing down with Mahomes. Perhaps the Chiefs will be among the teams that bring him in for a workout ahead of the 2020 NFL season. They’re expected to have some departures at the position in free agency and a veteran free agent could be part of the solution.
