The AP Top 25 College Basketball Poll is out and five Big Ten teams are currently ranked. Rutgers men’s basketball is not one of them but is receiving votes.

The Scarlet Knights received 11 votes in the preseason poll, making them the eighth-highest team in the Big Ten.

It certainly is a loaded representation for the conference. The Big Ten is led by No. 6 Michigan and No. 7 Purdue. Also in the mix are No. 11 Illinois, No. 17 Ohio State, and No. 21 Maryland.

Knocking on the door is Michigan State (87 votes) and Indiana (41 votes). Then comes Rutgers.

Rutgers was picked to finish eighth in the Big Ten’s preseason poll. It was a middle-of-the-pack placement for the program, who return four starters and have several young contributors set to emerge this year.

The AP preseason poll has an identical landing spot for Rutgers, which would likely represent another NCAA Tournament appearance.

They finished the season 16-12 a year ago including a 10-10 record in the Big Ten.

The Scarlet Knights are looking to make back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances for the first time since 1975-76. This past tournament, Rutgers beat Clemson in the first round before falling to Houston in their next game. Houston ended up making the Final Four.

Latest AP Basketball Poll is out. Where is Ohio State?

The Ohio State basketball team has made a significant jump in the latest AP Top 25 Basketball Poll. Find out where it’s ranked.

The latest AP Basketball Poll is out, and the Ohio State basketball team has jumped all the way up to No. 2 in the country.

The Buckeyes would most likely have already been No. 1 if not for a loss last week to Minnesota just before the poll was released. Since then, Ohio State has blown away a Southeast Missouri State team, and then took care of business against a very good top ten Kentucky squad on the national stage.

The jump comes after Ohio State had fallen down to No. 5 in last week’s release.

The only team sitting on top of the Buckeyes now is a talented 13-1 Gonzaga club. Just behind OSU and rounding out the top ten is Louisville (3), Duke (4), Kansas (5), Oregon (6), Baylor (7), Auburn (8), Memphis (9), and Villanova (10).

Ohio State is currently on a bit of a break for the holidays, but will next be in action on a so-called neutral court against West Virginia on Sunday in Cleveland.

Ohio State basketball jumps to No. 3 in AP Basketball Poll

Ohio State has moved from No. 6 to No. 3 in the latest AP Basketball Poll.

The Ohio State men’s basketball team is exceeding expectations once again under Chris Holtmann, and it might just be setting the bar in 2019.

The latest AP Basketball Poll has been released and the Buckeyes are all the way up to No. 3, up from last week when they were No. 6. The only two teams now ahead of Ohio State are Louisville and Kansas — two blue bloods of the sport.

OSU has used a deep team with a balanced mix of veterans and young talent to blow almost everyone out this year. It has wins over Cincinnati, Villanova, and on the road against North Carolina already this year. The Buckeyes have put together one of — if not the best — resumes so far of any team in the country.

Ohio State is next in action against Minnesota on 12/15, and has a big one looming against Kentucky on 12/21.
