Ryan Clark makes bold prediction on future of ex-Steelers WR Antonio Brown

ESPN analyst and former Pittsburgh Steelers safety Ryan Clark believes, unequivocally, that Antonio Brown is a Hall of Famer.

Ryan Clark is at it again. And while this isn’t his boldest prediction by far, it certainly has sparked conversation.

The ESPN analyst and Pivot Podcast host believes that former Pittsburgh Steelers legend Antonio Brown is a Hall of Famer. “I don’t think he gets in on the First Ballot because we know how that goes, but for a period he was one of the ‘greatest’ to ever do it,” Clark recently posted on X.

How bold it is, really, though? We all know Brown has a Hall of Fame resume and could’ve kept adding to it if he hadn’t gone off the deep end. Like many players who leave, his career took a significant dip after he left Pittsburgh.

It’s not a question of whether his career is worthy of enshrinement, only that he’ll have to clear some hurdles to clear to get in. Voters take into consideration off-the-field issues almost as deeply as on-field performance.

There’s a backlog of HOF-caliber receivers who have yet to get their gold jacket, including Steelers’ own Hines Ward.

Whether Brown will get in is anybody’s guess. He never officially retired, so the countdown has yet to begin. Players must be retired for five years to be eligible for induction.

Bengals star receiver puts former Steeler on his WR Mount Rushmore

Is the idea that Antonio Brown is an all-time great really that far-fetched?

There are very few wide receivers in the NFL right now better than Cincinnati Bengals WR Ja’Marr Chase. Chase did an interview with SI Now and was asked to give the four wide receivers he’d put on his Mount Rushmore. This might not have mattered in most cases, but when Chase included a former Pittsburgh Steelers player, we pay attention.

Chase’s list was as follows:

Calvin Johnson

Antonio Brown

Cooper Kupp

Jerry Rice

Two big takeaways from this list. First, Kupp over Randy Moss? That’s saying something. Or even over his former LSU teammate Justin Jefferson, who is the best receiver in the NFL right now. Bold.

But seeing Brown on this list really brings back just how great Brown was. His six-season stretch from 2013-2018 is unprecedented in the history of the NFL: 686 receptions for 9,145 yards and 67 touchdowns. If not for his complete meltdown and personal destruction of his career, Brown might have gone down in history as a true all-time great.

DK Metcalf names his top 5 WRs of all time, top 3 in the NFL today

Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf was a guest on the All Things Covered podcast earlier this week.

Seahawks wide receiver DK Metcalf was a guest on the All Things Covered podcast earlier this week. One of many subjects Metcalf touched on was his list of the greatest wide receivers of all time.

Metcalf listed his top five of all time as such:

  1. Antonio Brown
  2. Randy Moss
  3. Terrell Owens
  4. Jerry Rice
  5. Julio Jones

A pretty reasonable list, aside from Seahawks legend Jerry Rice being ranked a few spots too low. Then again, Rice retired when Metcalf was only nine years old, so we’ll give him a pass on that.

As for his top receives currently in the league, Metcalf named three:

  1. Justin Jefferson – Vikings
  2. Davante Adams – Raiders
  3. A.J. Brown – Eagles

Jefferson is also at the top of our recent rankings for the top 33 wide receivers in the league. Our only objection here is that Tyreek Hill should probably be included in any top-three list, but to be fair it is a very-crowded picture at the top. As for Metcalf, we have him ranked just outside the top 10 at No. 12 in the league.

Antonio Brown explains why Tom Brady thinks he’s a ‘narcissist’

Antonio Brown claims he had a candid one-on-one conversation with Tom Brady in his final season with the Buccaneers.

[anyclip pubname=”2103″ widgetname=”0016M00002U0B1kQAF_M8036″]

The Antonio Brown and Tom Brady connection was something NFL fans desperately wanted to work on the football field, but it came together and imploded on two completely different teams.

There was no meant-to-be in that short-lived fairy tale that ultimately ended up turning into a nightmare.

Brown recently appeared on Tyreek Hill’s “It Needed To Be Said” podcast, via the Vocal Podcast Network, where he opened up about a conversation he had with Brady the year after the duo won a Super Bowl together at Tampa Bay.

The troubled receiver talked about being suspended after allegedly obtaining a fake COVID-19 vaccination card. He also spoke about coming off the bench, taking less money and feeling like the Bucs’ organization was out to get him—all while playing through an injury. Those issues came to a head, according to Brown, when speaking with Brady.

“These boys know I’m hurt, they put the COVID, I get suspended, they told me come and now I told them I’m not coming because now I see they was already trying to take me down the wrong way and I was really official,” said Brown. “So now I meet with Tom Brady, and he like giving me talks, like he think like I’m like a narcissist.

“I’m like ‘What bro? I already been over here low volume because I’m really supposed to be turned up because I’m really a go-to guy. I’m the head. I’m not really a tail. I’m here to get these guys inspired. I’m already coming off the bench playing while I’m hurt. I’m the spark. So now you not seeing me for who I’m is.'”

During the segment, Brown called Brady out for not throwing him the ball enough. He also took a dig at Brady’s trainer, Alex Guerrero, for not reading MRIs and proceeding to work on his body anyways, despite Brown having a torn ligament.

The issues eventually culminated into the seven-time Pro Bowl wideout removing his jersey, walking off the field and quitting on his team in their Week 17 game against the New York Jets back in January 2022.

Brown claimed there were no hard feelings with Brady during the interview. He said the two didn’t really have a lot in common off the field. The only thing they really shared was their greatness on it and the short time they spent together as teammates.

“That’s life, man. We work with people, you live with people, life goes on. We all got a life to live. We don’t hate no one. There’s no bad energy and no negative vibes. You know, we all have a stint in each other’s life and life go on,” said Brown.

They talk Tom Brady, AB’s walk-off and leaving the Raiders.

Miami Dolphins wide receiver Tyreek Hill has been hard at work both on and off the field.

Over the last two years, Hill has been releasing episodes of his podcast, “It Needed to be Said,” during the offseason, and he’s had some very interesting conversations with athletes, including Bijan Robinson, Jorge Masvidal, Bradley Chubb and Brian Burns.

This week, Hill sat down with a seven-time Pro Bowler, four-time All-Pro member – former NFL great Antonio Brown.

The duo, and Hill’s co-host Julius Collins, touched on a number of topics, including Tom Brady, Brown’s infamous walk-off for Tampa Bay and leaving the Raiders.

Antonio Brown courts more trouble from coaches, players of Arena League team

Antonio Brown has his former Arena League players and coaches ticked

Where Antonio Brown goes, trouble follows.

The former NFL star has upset players and coaching staff of his Albany Empire.

Brown reportedly had the paychecks for players and coaches pulled from their bank accounts after they had been deposited.

“Frustration, anger, disbelief, shock, you name it,” interim coach Moe Leggett told NEWS10. “It’s a very unfortunate situation that we’re being put in. We just want to put it behind us. Just pay what the guys are owed and we’ll just move on. No hard feelings. But you’re playing with people’s livelihoods.”

Leggett also says multiple players and his offensive coordinator were not yet signed up through the Paychex system, and they have not been paid at all. Leggett says he has been reaching out to Empire owner Antonio Brown and his accountant, Alex Gunaris, all week but has been unable to reach them.

The team had already been kicked out of the league due to ownership hijinks.

Antonio Brown offering Cam Newton $150K to play in arena football game

Antonio Brown, part-owner (and maybe WR) of the Albany Empire, has offered Panthers great Cam Newton $150,000 to play one arena football game with him.

[anyclip pubname=”2103″ widgetname=”0016M00002U0B1kQAF_M8036″]

Cam Newton has been offered a one-day contract . . . but it’s probably not the type Carolina Panthers are eventually hoping for.

Former NFL wide receiver Antonio Brown—who may or may not be a current National Arena League wide receiver—tweeted out an, um, interesting offer to Newton on Sunday afternoon.

Brown is now a co-owner of the Albany Empire, a professional indoor team established as part of the NAL in 2021. And, based on his push for the 2015 NFL’s Most Valuable Player, he may be their general manager as well.

Even prior to this latest development, the four-time First-team All-Pro and Super Bowl champion pass catcher recently told WNYT NewsChannel 13 sports director Roger Wyland that he had been “in contact” with Newton about joining the organization “in some capacity.”

The thing is—Brown also told Wyland that he was making his on-field debut for Empire this past Saturday. Unsurprisingly, that didn’t happen—as the 34-year-old did not complete the paperwork on his physical in time and was not allowed to suit up.

But maybe that Ace Boogie-to-AB connection will be just what the doctor ordered.

Antonio Brown ‘in contact’ with Panthers great Cam Newton about joining arena league team

Former All-Pro WR Antonio Brown told WNYT’s Roger Wyland that he has been in contact with Panthers great Cam Newton about joining his arena league team in some capacity.

[anyclip pubname=”2103″ widgetname=”0016M00002U0B1kQAF_M8036″]

Carolina Panthers fans used to dream about a Cam Newton-Antonio Brown pairing—back when the former was dominating the league as its Most Valuable Player and the latter was, well, not doing whatever he’s doing now. Nonetheless, that dream may become a reality . . . in a much different arena.

Brown, who’s apparently a modern-day Connie Mack, recently told WNYT NewsChannel 13 sports director Roger Wyland that he plans on playing for the Albany Empire—the National Arena League organization he owns a stake in. The 34-year-old owner/wide receiver also said he has been “in contact” with Newton about joining the team “in some capacity.”

Given that Newton has not been willing to compromise his self-worth for certain NFL jobs, seeing him suit up for an arena league squad seems a bit unlikely. Plus, you can probably trust Brown as far as you can throw him—whether that’s in or out of a pool.

But perhaps Brown came to Newton with an opportunity regarding ownership. Or maybe he wants his old pal to help coach the Empire up.

Who knows?

What we do know, however, is that there are definitely not 32 guys better than Cam in the NAL.

Antonio Brown tweets that he’s returning to the NFL with the Ravens

Wide receiver Antonio Brown tweets that he’s returning to the NFL with the Ravens

It’s draft weekend, and a lot of good things have happened for the Baltimore Ravens so far. The team signed quarterback Lamar Jackson to a five-year contract worth $260 million, while they also drafted wide receiver Zay Flowers with pick No. 22.

With how good the Ravens’ day was on Thursday, it seems it attracted a former NFL wide receiver in Antonio Brown. In a new tweet from Brown, it has him wearing a Ravens No. 84 saying that he’s excited to return to the NFL this year with the “Ravens Flock” hashtag.

There is likely no substance to Brown’s claim, and the tweet is for attention. Brown was linked to the Ravens during his playing days, but those seem plenty over.
