On3 prediction entered for five-star LB Anthony Hill in favor of Texas A&M

The in-state battle between Texas and Texas A&M continues to heat up.

The in-state battle between Texas and Texas A&M for five-star linebacker Anthony Hill continues to heat up. It appears the Aggies may be making a move for the Denton Ryan star.

Sam Spiegelman of On3 Sports entered a recruiting prediction for Hill in favor of Texas A&M on Friday.

Hill is set to take a visit to College Station to check out Jimbo Fisher’s program this weekend. He took an official visit to Texas on June 24.

The eventual winner of the Hill sweepstakes is getting a program changing prospect. The 247Sports composite has Hill as the No. 1 linebacker in the nation and the No. 2 overall player in the state of Texas.

He earned first-team all-state honors for Denton Ryan as a junior in 2021. Hill totaled 131 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, eight sacks and four turnovers forced.

Texas football and others have a big recruiting weekend in store

This weekend could make or break a number of recruitments.

Steve Sarkisian gets set for one of the bigger recruiting weekends of the offseason.

Texas likely only has around eight more open spots for commitments. While there is great confidence in what Texas can accomplish with on-campus visitors, there likely remains some curiosity of what is going on elsewhere.

David Hicks Jr., the top 10 talent from Katy, has long had an Oklahoma visit in his sights. Having brought in more defensive talent, this weekend could further improve Oklahoma’s chances to get the top defensive lineman.

Anthony Hill Jr. has a significant visit to College Station planned this weekend. With Hill likely soon deciding between Texas and Texas A&M the timing makes the visit even more consequential.

Texas will bring in its fair share of recruiting targets. This could be an opportunity for Arch Manning and company to help close the recruitment of a handful of key prospects.

Jordan Matthews, Markis Deal, Javien Toviano and others could all potentially visit Texas this weekend. A good weekend could improve their chances of a top three recruiting class.

Arch Manning and Johntay Cook are taking over recruiting duties for Texas

Johntay Cook and Arch Manning are making a list and checking it twice.

Texas’ top 2023 commitments are leading the charge in recruiting their top remaining targets.

Saturday morning, Gerry Hamilton of Inside Texas detailed who Johntay Cook is recruiting the strongest.

With quite a few Texas targets set to make commitments soon, one has to wonder what role Johntay Cook and Arch Manning have played in those decisions.

Four of the top five uncommitted prospects in Texas could make commitments ahead of the 2022 season. Texas is squarely in the running for each of those program-elevating players.

Additionally, top out-of-state running back Cedric Baxter Jr. will announce his commitment Wednesday, August 10.

Recruiting pitches from five-star talents like Manning and Cook likely carry more meaning than those from other recruits. Certainly, both players’ film matches their respective ratings.

Texas will keep a close eye on high four-star cornerback Malik Muhammad, who is set to commit Wednesday, July 20.

Muhammad’s connection with Johntay Cook could help bring Texas over the top. The elite cornerback from South Oak Cliff is the No. 5 cornerback and No. 50 overall player in the On3 consensus.

Five star linebacker Anthony Hill narrows his options to two lone star rivals

Aggies make Final Two for top 2023 Linebacker Anthony Hill

The Aggies have made the final list for the top linebacker prospect in the 2023 class out of Ryan High School in Denton, Texas, Anthony Hill. His decision will ultimately come down to Texas A&M, or their in-state rivals, The Texas Longhorns, who have had quite the recruiting haul during the latter half of June, and are looking to keep their own momentum going as Hill’s recruitment is reaching the finish line.

Yes, Texas is having its moment in the sun, but don’t get too caught up in the hype, because the Aggies have been in on Anthony Hill from day one after offering him on April 20, 2020. Hill proceeded to unofficially visit College Station, 3 times in 2021, and 2 times in 2022, with an official visit most likely coming up later this year.

In my most recent evaluation of Anthony Hill, I described his skill set at the  linebacker position:

As a prospect, Anthony Hill checks off every box as an off-ball linebacker, possessing a desirable frame at 6-2, 225lbs, and dynamic athleticism paired with impressive lateral quickness, and plays every snap with a nasty, ultra-aggressive demeanor. Hill can be utilized as a pure run stopper and featured in blitz packages, employing his impressive closing burst. in coverage, he has the potential to cover the middle of the field, has shown side line to side line ability on multiple occasions, and looks to improve in coverage skills during his senior season. Overall, his superior athletic traits place him in the upper echelon of linebacker prospects for the 2023 class.

Anthony Hill is one of the most important recruits left for the Aggies to secure for the 2023 class, and with the amount of time he’s spent on campus, the relationships he’s built with the coaching staff, and the opportunity to join one of the most talented rosters in college football after the 2022 recruiting haul, this seems like a no brainer. But as you know, he will be making the final decision, and let’s be glad that the Aggies are squarely in the mix.

Texas commit Arch Manning is recruiting program-changing players

The Manning family is pushing to bring Anthony Hill to Texas.

Arch Manning is pushing hard to build a championship roster at the University of Texas.

Five-star linebacker Anthony Hill appears to be one of Arch Manning’s primary targets. Hill’s recruitment to Texas seems to be a family effort by the Manning family.

Hill would figure to be one of the cornerstone players for Texas in the 2023 class. On the defensive side, Texas is pushing for a few more highly coveted recruits. Gerry Hamilton of Inside Texas placed another prediction in favor of Texas for four-star cornerback Malik Muhammad.

Texas is in the hunt for a major potential secondary haul that at the top end could include Muhammad, Jordan Matthews, and Javien Toviano. The trio would be a lethal combination to add to five-star safety commit Derek Williams Jr.

The back end of the 2023 defensive class could be taking shape soon. If Texas can bring in more talent on the defensive line, they have the foundation of a strong defense heading into the SEC.
