Boateng chooses Missouri over Arkansas and host of others

Annor Boateng committed to Missouri on Friday over Arkansas and a variety of other schools.

Little Rock Central has given Arkansas plenty of former basketball standouts.

Joe Johnson immediately comes to mind. More recently, Alandise Harris was a key contributor on Mike Anderson’s first NCAA Tournament team in 2014-15.

Current 2024 wing Annor Boateng won’t be one of them, as he committed to Missouri on Friday on his social media.

Boateng took a number of visits to Arkansas, but the prevailing wisdom was that he was not enamored with the Razorbacks and wasn’t going to plan on staying in-state.

On3 rates him as a five-star prospect and the No. 9 player in the country out of the Class of 2024. At 247Sports, Boateng is a four-star player and the No. 38 player in the class.

He is the reigning Arkansas Gatorade Player of the Year for the Tigers after averaging 16 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists in 2022-23 at Central.

Hogs basketball recruit Boateng likely to narrow list soon

The Little Rock Central wing is the best player in the state. He’s already visited Fayetteville and now he’s off elsewhere.

The good news for Arkansas fans is that Annor Boateng visited Fayetteville first.

The bad news is he’s now traveling elsewhere.

Boateng, a 6-foot-5, four-star wing from Little Rock Central, is set to visit Missouri, LSU, Virginia and Indiana over the course of September, according to a report from WholeHogSports’ Richard Davenport. Those four schools, plus Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Auburn and Virginia Tech, made the cut as his finalists back in July.

Over at On3, Boateng is listed as a five-star player the No. 9 recruit in the whole country in the Class of 2024. And while his ranking isn’t that high at 247Sports, no publication has him outside the realm of potential superstar.

Boateng is the reigning Arkansas Gatorade Player of the Year for the Tigers after averaging 16 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists in 2022-23 at Central.

Two highly-rated Arkansas basketball targets, [autotag]Annor Boateng[/autotag] and [autotag]Terrion Burgess[/autotag], have been selected for the prominent 3SSB Circuit All-American Camp in California. It’s the second straight year that the pair have been selected to the prestigious camp.

Boateng, a 6-5, 205-pound guard from Little Rock Central and 2022-23 Gatorade Arkansas Boys Basketball Player of the Year, included the Razorbacks in his final list of eight schools over the weekend.

He averaged 15.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.9 steals and 1.4 blocks per game as a junior last season. Boateng is currently rated as a five-star recruit by On3.com which also has him as the No. 9 overall prospect in the 2024 class. He is expected to officially visit Eric Musselman and the Razorbacks on July 28-30.

Burgess, a 6-9, 200-pound forward from Benton, is part of the 2025 recruiting class. He and Boateng are teammates on the Arkansas Hawks 17U summer team, which Burgess has played up on this summer. He is currently a consensus four-star and rated as the No. 40 overall prospect in the 2025 recruiting class. He holds offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Oklahoma, Ole Miss and Texas A&M among others.

Boateng and Burgess were two of only 50 prospects – from all other summer circuits – to be selected to the camp.

Elite SF Annor Boateng puts Auburn in top eigth schools

Auburn is looking to add a second top recruit to its 2024 recruiting class.

Small forward [autotag]Annor Boateng[/autotag] is one of the top players in the 2024 recruiting class and on Saturday he trimmed his schools down to eight. The Little Rock, Arkansas native announced a final eight of Auburn, Arkansas, Georgia Tech, Indiana, LSU, Missouri, Ohio State and Virginia Tech.

Boateng officially visited Auburn back in January and that is his only official visit so far, though he has taken unofficial trips to Arkansas and Missouri. The trip to the Plains impressed him and allowed him to get to see how Auburn operated on a game day he told On3’s Jamie Shaw.

“I got to see them in action, which was great. They played against my hometown school, Arkansas. Their whole game routine, the way the coaches interact with the players, is like a family there. I got to talk with some of the players on the side, and they just made it a great experience to be there.

Boateng is the No. 25 player and the No. 10 small forward in the On3 Industry Ranking. He is also the No. 1 player from Arkansas.

The 6-foot-5, 205-pounder was named the 2022-23 Arkansas Boys Basketball Gatorade Player of the Year after averaging 15.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, 2.1 assists, 1.9 steals and 1.4 blocks per game as a junior for Little Rock Central High School.

Auburn has already one elite player in the 2024 cycle, five-star point guard Tahaad Pettifort as [autotag]Bruce Pearl[/autotag] and Co. continue to bring elite recruits to the Plains.

LSU makes final 8 for top 25 basketball prospect

Matt McMahon has been working hard on the recruiting trail for the 2024 class.

Matt McMahon has been working hard on the recruiting trail for the 2024 class. He has the Tigers in a good position to battle for some of the best prospects in the country as LSU has made the final eight schools for four-star small forward [autotag]Annor Boateng[/autotag] from Arkansas.

Boateng is a 6-foot-5, 205-pound, four-star small forward from Little Rock, Arkansas, where he plays for Little Rock Central High School. As you can imagine, in-state Arkansas is currently the favorite to land him at 44% per On3.

LSU made the list along with Arkansas, Auburn, Georgia Tech, Indiana, Missouri, Ohio State and Virginia Tech. The Tigers do not currently have any commitments for the 2024 class but the coaching staff has been on the road all summer checking out the top talent in the country and dishing out offers to the best of the best.

Boateng is the 13th small forward the Tigers have offered in this cycle.

Five-star recruit from Little Rock puts Arkansas as finalist, potential destination

Little Rock Central’s Annor Boateng is the No. 9 player in the Class of 2024 in On3’s rankings.

Annor Boateng, like Nick Smith Jr., Moses Moody and Bobby Portis before him, is a five-star Little Rock basketball star.

Now Arkansas fans are hoping Boateng is like Smith, Moody and Portis in that he will also bring his game to Fayetteville and play for the Razorbacks.

Step one to that end came earlier in the week when Boateng listed Arkansas as potential destination. The Hogs were included with Ohio State, Indiana, Virginia Tech, Georgia Tech, Missouri, Auburn and LSU. No timetable was given on a decision.

Boateng is a 6-foot-5 wing who plays high school ball at Little Rock Central and is the reigning Gatorade Player of the Year. On3 rates him as a five-star prospect and the No. 9 player in the country out of the Class of 2024. At 247Sports, Boateng is a four-star player and the No. 38 player in the class.

Either way, his choosing of Arkansas would go a long way in continuing the recruiting dominance coach Eric Musselman has established since becoming Razorbacks coach.

Ohio State basketball offers 4-star 2024 Arkansas wing

The Buckeyes offer the combo wing #GoBucks

The [autotag]Ohio State[/autotag] 2023 recruiting class might not be done, but head coach [autotag]Chris Holtmann[/autotag] is already looking ahead to the 2024 cycle.

The Buckeyes have their point guard, Nevada’s Juni Mobley who is rated as the No. 7 best at his position and 42nd overall.

It’s a great start, but Holtmann is looking for players that will compliment his floor general and it looks like he has found one in Arkansas’ [autotag]Annor Boateng[/autotag]. The 6-foot, 5-inch, 205-pound forward is the top player in the state, No. 7 small forward, and 25th overall.

Boateng has some versatility in his game, he can slide down and play guard as well. In Holtmann’s system, he would be a great addition.

(Note: The player rankings are through the 247Sports composite rankings.)

The 6’6″ power guard has Arkansas high on his list, but his commitment to WPS is not solidified yet.

“There’s the occasional ‘Go to the Razorbacks,’ and there’s the ‘Go where you want,'” Boateng said. “Whatever’s best for me, I’ll make that decision. But I love the Razorback fans. They come here every time, and they always show support. So it’s all love.”
