Zion estimates that around 80% of players in the league are into anime; they just won’t admit it. Those familiar with the conventions of the form know that it would be hard to craft a genre better suited to professional athletes: Shōnen anime (the term for shows targeted at boys) often revolve around a protagonist striving to achieve greatness in their chosen field, be it high seas piracy (One Piece) or fighting alien warlords using energy blasts so powerful they turn your hair gold (Dragon Ball Z). They’re long-form stories about what it takes to be The Best—not incidentally, the same goal that drives athletes.

Zion leaves with 8 points, 9 rebounds, 5 assists, 1 block, 1 steal on 3/7 FG. He was 1/2 from the line and made his only 3-pt attempt. Created lots of open looks. – 8:35 PM

Second half quality has been so much better after a few early turnovers. Really good half — even against a bad team. Great recognition in transition from Zion to hit Trey early and then Trey makes an extra pass to Graham in corner. -MP – 8:35 PM

You can see how much it makes sense to have Zion do DHOs with the guards or other primary scorers — will force Zion’s man to perimeter to contest someone like BI or CJ pulling up, creating gaps for Zion’s drives. A way to keep the top-tier offensive players involved. -MP – 7:17 PM

– Joel Embiid is the most prolific per-36 scorer in NBA history.
– Zion Williamson is the most efficient volume scorer in NBA history.

More on this storyline

First, the play was called a defensive goaltending against Williamson but he showed off his athleticism as he chased down Patrick Williams on a layup attempt and swatted his shot. It showed Williamson’s bounce was back on that end of the floor. One minute later, Williamson caught the ball on the right wing, faced up, took one hard dribble with his right hand to blow by Williams and exploded for a two-handed slam. In 15 minutes, Williamson had 13 points and four rebounds. He was 4-of-6 from the field and 5-of-5 from the line. If his free throw percentage can climb this season (he’s shooting 68% for his career), Williamson can become even more dangerous this season. -via ESPN / October 5, 2022
The Zion Williamson show is officially back. Even if it was just for a preseason viewing. The New Orleans Pelicans forward returned to the court Tuesday night, scoring 13 points in a 15-minute performance at the United Center in a 129-125 win over the Chicago Bulls. Earlier on Tuesday, Williamson told ESPN his mindset was to treat this like just another preseason game, but he admitted it was hard to ignore the messages blowing up his phone and appearing on social media about the year-plus he missed. -via ESPN / October 5, 2022

Every reference we could spot in the Chargers’ hilarious anime schedule release video

Anime and NFL references galore!

It’s fair to say the Los Angeles Chargers won the NFL’s schedule release day.

Thursday night marked the NFL’s big schedule announcement night, with many teams participating in some fun shenanigans and tomfoolery. Every year, the schedule release videos get weirder and wackier, and none other than the Chargers one upped everyone by going full anime opening.

Yes, that’s right, the Chargers created a full two-minute anime opening to showcase their schedule for the 2022 NFL season. It’s absolutely as glorious as it sounds, as it’s one of the coolest things we’ve seen from a team’s social media account. Check it out!

Seriously, how cool was that? For those eagle-eyed viewers, you might have noticed there were a lot of references to anime and NFL memes in general. Here are all the references we’ve found in the Chargers incredible anime schedule release video.

‘Fortnite’ is doing a crossover with anime series ‘Naruto’

Fortnite is getting into anime with its Naruto crossover.

Fortnite  is doing a crossover with Naruto Shippuden, the wildly popular shonen anime series.

After maybe a year’s worth of speculation, the spikey-haired ninja is indeed coming to the battle royale phenomenon that is Fortnite. Epic Games finally made it all official on Wednesday with a single “Believe it!” teaser, a quote the character Naruto repeatedly says in the anime’s English dub.

Check out Epic’s teaser for the Fortnite x Naruto Shippuden  crossover for yourself below. It’s all coming out next week on Nov. 16, so anyone eager to try out whatever activities, skins or items coming with the crossover won’t have to wait long.

Rumors of a Fortnite x Naruto Shippuden crossover have existed in data mining circles for a while. HYPEX, a well-known Fortnite  data miner, even shared details about Naruto  appearing in Fortnite  hours before Epic Games made the official announcement.

Until Epic makes these alleged details official, take all of this with a grain of salt.

These Fortnite  crossovers seem only ever to get bigger. Last week, Jinx from League of Legends  hopped into the build wars and before that there was Batman, Venom, Spider-Man, the Predator and virtually every other character ever in the history of pop culture.

‘Call of Duty: Vanguard’ is allegedly getting a crossover with ‘Attack on Titan’

There’s evidence that Call of Duty is about to delve into anime.

Some well-known data miners may have just found evidence of an Attack On Titan  crossover with Call of Duty: Vanguard.

Nanikos, a popular figure in Call of Duty’s data mining community, stumbled across some curiosities in Call of Duty: Vanguard’s  code. They found references to items “swordtitan” and “aot_titan” among other things, Video Games Chronicle reported on Monday. Things get more interesting from there, too — as Nanikos found in-game models based on items and weapons from the wildly popular Attack on Titan  anime. Specifically, the Ultrahard Steel swords that several characters from the show use.

Take a look at Nanikos’ findings for yourself below.

Yup, these sure look like references to Attack on Titan  in Call of Duty: Vanguard’s code.

While it looks like the crossover is all but confirmed, remember to take these sorts of leaks with a pinch of salt. There’s strong evidence to back everything up, of course, yet it’s all up in the air until Activision Blizzard makes the announcement.

We thought Call of Duty: Vanguard  was going through the motions too much in our review. However, it has its moments, like when someone ran over an enemy team with a tiny tank. If nothing else, it’ll be a nice holdover until the next Warzone  map comes out.
