The Angels are 12-13 on the road this season while the Orioles are 15-7 at home. LA has lost 8 of its last 11 games while Baltimore has have won 6 of its last 8 games.

While the moneyline at -155 isn’t too much to bet, you get better odds with the run line.

PASS.

Run line/Against the spread

Of the Angels’ last 8 losses in 11 games, 6 have been by 2 or more runs. Of the Orioles’ last 13 wins, 12 were by 2 or more runs.  They are 27-16 ATS this season, the 2nd-best mark in the majors.

BET ORIOLES -1.5 (+125).

Over/Under

Two of the 3 games in the series have had more than 9 total runs, but those are the only 2 games in the Orioles’ last 11 to have more than 9 total runs. They are also the only 2 games in the Angels’ last 11 to hit more than 9 total runs.

Los Angeles Angels at Baltimore Orioles odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Los Angeles Angels at Baltimore Orioles odds and lines, with MLB expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Los Angeles Angels (22-21) are still on the East Coast for the 3rd game of a 4-game series with the Baltimore Orioles (27-15) Wednesday. First pitch will be at 6:35 p.m. ET from Camden Yards in Baltimore. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Angels vs. Orioles odds and make our expert MLB picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Tied 1-1

The Angels had a 5-game winning streak earlier this month, but they’ve been in a rut ever since then. They’ve only won 3 of their last 10 games and have lost 3 of their last 4. They’re led by superstar Shohei Ohtani, who leads the team with a .296 batting average as well as with 5 wins with 71 strikeouts, but he won’t be on the mound tonight.

The Orioles have won 5 of their last 7 games, sitting 2nd in the AL East 4.5 games behind the Tampa Bay Rays. They’ve scored the 8th-most runs (212) in baseball, but rank just 15th in team ERA (4.16). Baltimore split the first 2 games of the series with the Angels, though both were high-scoring affairs: a 9-5 loss and 7-3 win.

Los Angeles Angels at Baltimore Orioles projected starters

RHP Griffin Canning vs. RHP Kyle Bradish

Canning (2-1, 6.38 ERA) makes his 6th start. He has a 1.38 WHIP, 3.4 BB/9 and 7.9 K/9 in 24 innings.

  • Has struggled in his last 2 starts, allowing 5 ER in each and totaling just 8 2/3 IP
  • Has allowed 1 HR in each of his last 4 starts

Bradish (1-1, 4.56 ERA) makes his 7th start. He has a 1.48 WHIP, 3.5 BB/9 and 8.4 K/9 in 25 2/3 innings.

  • Last start: No-decision, 6 IP, 3 H, 0 ER, 1 BB, 6 K in 6-3 win vs. Pittsburgh Pirates on Friday
  • Has given up 3 or fewer ER in all but 1 start; allowed 7 runs in 2 1/3 innings vs. the Boston Red Sox on April 25

Angels at Orioles picks and predictions

Prediction

Orioles 5, Angels 3

Moneyline

The Angels are struggling at the moment, dropping 7 of their last 10 and 3 of their last 4. They did steal one from the Orioles in Game 1 of the series, a 9-5 victory, but that was with Ohtani on the mound. He’s been the winning pitcher in nearly a quarter of their 21 wins (5).

I like the ORIOLES (-145) to win this game outright, and hopefully we get the good version of Bradish and not the one that was roughed up by the Red Sox last month.

Run line/Against the spread

Of the Orioles’ last 10 wins, 9 of them have been by at least 2 runs, so they’ve been covering the run line in their victories. If you like them to win Wednesday as I do, they’re worth betting at -1.5 with a value of +135.

They’re 4-2 in games started by Bradish this season, winning all 4 of those games by at least 2 runs. BET ORIOLES -1.5 (+135).

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

The Over is 20-20-3 in Angels games this season and 21-18-3 in Orioles games, according to Covers, so there isn’t a strong trend that’s developed. And even though neither of these pitchers has been particularly consistent or reliable, the 1st 2 games of the series were relatively high scoring so I expect a regression tonight.

BET UNDER 9 (-120).

Angels at Orioles picks and predictions

Prediction

Angels 4, Orioles 3

Moneyline

PASS.

Baltimore has a 13-6 record at home. Rodriguez has been solid in 3 of his last 4 starts, and the Orioles is going along nicely and is in decent shape at the back end.

Worth a line watch: Orioles +120 has value.

Run line/Against the spread

With a likable Under, this game may be closer to some value. Would take Baltimore +1.5 at -150 or better. Otherwise PASS.

Play our free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Over/Under

The Under is 6-0-1 in the Orioles’ last 7 overall. The Under is 15-6-3 in the last 24 series meetings in Baltimore.

And we have a nice number and price on the Under here.

Both clubs have faced weak pitching slates so far, which has overinflated their batting numbers. The Los Angeles HR number does not hold up to scrutiny (looking at other extra-base hits, exit velo, barrel percentage). The Angels own a .323 BABIP with runner in scoring position. And facing a right-handed pitcher puts them on the weaker side of their platoon splits.

The Baltimore offense has leveraged a .354 BABIP in high-leverage situations. Like the Angels, the Orioles are also more dangerous against port-siders.

The pitching here is solid: Ohtani overall, Rodriguez better than surface numbers show, and the Baltimore bullpen is quite good.

BACK THE UNDER 8 (-110).

Los Angeles Angels at Baltimore Orioles odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Los Angeles Angels at Baltimore Orioles odds and lines, with MLB expert picks and predictions.

The Los Angeles Angels (38-46) meet the Baltimore Orioles (40-44) Friday for the 2nd of their 4-game series in Oriole Park at Camden Yards with the 1st pitch scheduled for 7:05 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Angels vs. Orioles odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Baltimore won Thursday’s series opener 4-1 and held L.A. sluggers Shohei Ohtani and Mike Trout to a combined 0-for-7. The Orioles are on a 5-game winning streak and 6-4 straight up (SU) in their last 10 games.

L.A. is just 4-6 SU in the last 10 and is 4th in the AL West, 17 games behind the Houston Astros.

The Orioles lead the season series with the Angels 3-1 and Baltimore has a plus-5 run differential in those meetings.

Angels at Orioles projected starters

LHP Reid Detmers vs. RHP Tyler Wells

Detmers is 2-3 with a 4.66 ERA, 1.10 WHIP, 3.3 BB/9 and 6.8 K/9 in 58 IP over 12 starts. He was optioned to the minor leagues but is filling in for an injured Angels SP Michael Lorenzen.

  • Last start: No-decision in L.A.’s 12-11 home loss to the Kansas City Royals June 21 with 5 IP, 5 ER, 5 H, 2 HR, 2 BB and 6 K.
  • 2022 vs. the Orioles: One start, a 5-3 home loss April 22 with 5 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 1 BB and 4 K.

Wells is 7-4 with a 3.09 ERA, 1.00 WHIP, 2.0 BB/9 and 5.9 K/9 in 75 2/3 IP over 16 starts.

  • Last start: Won 3-1 Wednesday at the Minnesota Twins with 6 IP, 1 ER, 3 H, 1 BB and 7 K.
  • Has 2-0 record with a 2.20 ERA in 6 home starts.

Angels at Orioles picks and predictions

Prediction

Orioles 6, Angels 3

Money line

BET ORIOLES (-140) to win 1 unit because they are 14-14 SU vs. left-handed starters and have a significant pitching edge over the Angels (+115) and the presumed sharp side of the market is backing Baltimore.

Detmers grades in the 34th percentile or worse in hard-hit rate, expected ERA, K%, exit velocity and chase rate according to Statcast while Wells grades in the 61st percentile or better in all of those metrics.

Also, Baltimore’s bullpen outranks L.A.’s in FIP (4.29-3.66), contact rate, swing-and-miss rates and home runs allowed per 9 innings (1.31-0.82), according to FanGraphs.

Finally, the public is split on this game but nearly three-fourths of the money is on the Orioles per Pregame.com. It appears that the professionals are staking Baltimore while the public is slightly intrigued by L.A.’s star power.

BET the ORIOLES (-140).

Run line/Against the spread

SPRINKLE on the ORIOLES -1.5 (+145) since it’s a chunky payout, Baltimore is an MLB’s best 53-31 RL and 5-4 RL as favorites and the Angels +1.5 (-180) are 6-15 RL as road underdogs.

Over/Under

PASS because I have a stronger read on Baltimore’s ML and RL and the situational O/U trends don’t provide much of a clue.

Los Angeles Angels at Baltimore Orioles odds, picks and prediction

Analyzing Thursday’s Los Angeles Angels at Baltimore Orioles odds and lines, with MLB picks and predictions.

The Los Angeles Angels (63-65) fell to the Baltimore Orioles (39-86) Wednesday, finally putting an end to Baltimore’s 19-game losing skid. The teams finish their three-game series Thursday with a 1:05 p.m. ET first pitch from Oriole Park at Camden Yards. Let’s analyze the lines around the Angels vs. Orioles odds with MLB picks and predictions.

Angels RHP Jamie Barria (2-2, 5.87 ERA) makes his sixth start and eighth appearance. He has a 1.47 WHIP, 3.2 BB/9 and 5.0 K/9 through 30 2/3 IP.

  • Barria has struck out just 12.5% of the batters he has faced which is the fourth-lowest mark among all pitchers with 30 or more IP. He entered the season with a 7.4 K/9 over 244 1/3 career innings but hasn’t missed many bats this season.
  • He allowed 8 ER, 2 HR and 13 H over just 5 IP while struggling through his last two starts.
  • Allowed 5 ER while lasting just 2 frames in a 9-1 loss at the Cleveland Indians Aug. 20 in his last start.

Orioles LHP Keegan Akin (0-8, 7.92 ERA) makes his 19th appearance (12th start). He has a 1.81 WHIP, 3.8 BB/9 and 8.1 K/9 through 63 2/3 IP.

  • A .374 BABIP and 60.1% LOB% indicate Akin has been a little unlucky but poor skills have also clearly contributed to his bloated ERA that is second highest in the majors among pitchers with 60 IP.
  • Has posted a 10.21 ERA with 9 homers allowed over 39 2/3 IP in his last 11 appearances.
  • He is sporting a 7.48 ERA and 9.1 K/9 in seven outings (four starts) at home.

Prediction

Angels 7, Orioles 5

Money line (ML)

Baltimore has been in a tailspin and they own a league-worst 18-41 record at home. Akin has been getting roughed up by everyone and typically doesn’t give the Orioles a great chance to win – they are 1-17 in games he has pitched in this season.

Go with the ANGELS (-125).

FANTASY BASEBALL: Serious about winning your league? Sign up for BaseballHQ.com to dominate the competition. Subscribe now!

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

21 of Baltimore’s last 22 losses have been by more than 1 run. Their -235 run differential is easily the worst in the majors and they were outscored 163-55 during their 19-game losing skid.

The Baltimore offense should put some runs on the board themselves against Barria, but the Angels should come out on top.

The odds are good enough to make a play on the run line here. Take the ANGELS -1.5 (+122).

Over/Under (O/U)

Both starting pitchers possess very mediocre skill-sets and it would come as a surprise if either shut down the opposition on Thursday. This sets up to be a high-scoring affair with plenty of offensive fireworks.

Get in on OVER 10.5 (-107) before the total goes up.
