Travis Kelce’s ex Kayla Nicole talks about Taylor Swift ‘situation’ on Angel Reese’s podcast

Kelce’s ex made an appearance on the WNBA star’s podcast this week.

Chicago Sky star Angel Reese’s new podcast episode dropped on Thursday night, with Kayla Nicole joining as a guest. The model and influencer dated Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce for five years, and their relationship reportedly ended in late 2022.

Reese has done six episodes of her Unapologetically Angel podcast, with previous guests including Dwyane Wade, Latto and Sheryl Swoopes. On this week’s episode, Reese and Nicole touched a variety of topics, including a lengthy discussion about her relationship with Kelce.

At one point, Reese asked if Nicole and Kelce were “cool” now that he has been dating pop star Taylor Swift for over a year. Nicole said they’d greet each other, but any sort of visible interactions or friendly behavior would be heavily scrutinized because of the 14-time Grammy winner.

“We’ve seen each other in public spaces, but I think that we’re both aware of the nature of his new situation,” Nicole told Reese. “There’s just no room really for us to communicate or acknowledge each other publicly without it being spun into something crazy so we just keep it moving.”

While the classification of Kelce and Swift’s relationship as a “situation” was a little odd, Reese’s follow up statement of “I loved you guys together” felt even more out of place.

Nicole also denied on the rumors of Kelce being “cheap” in their relationship, and discussed the over-the-top behavior from some Swifties.

“I would be lying if I said that that level of hate and online chaos doesn’t impact me. It does, even to this day,” she said. “You can go to my most recent post and there will be people debating each other why I am worthless and I’ll never be a talented person and I have no career.”

Flau’Jae Johnson, Aneesah Morrow to represent LSU women’s basketball at SEC media day

LSU has announced its delegation for SEC media day on Oct. 16.

Angel Reese explained why she was wearing a Bears jersey one week after supporting the Ravens

No, she’s not going on an NFL tour.

Angel Reese is coming off a historic rookie season — one that ended early due to injury — and she’s finally getting some time to an enjoy an offseason.

Last week, the Chicago Sky forward was in Baltimore to support her hometown Ravens in their game against the Bills. She was hanging out on the sidelines pregame and taking in the atmosphere at M&T Bank Stadium. Fast forward to Sunday, and Reese was back at an NFL game. But this time, she was rocking Chicago Bears colors.

Now, if there’s one thing NFL fans love to do, it’s to gatekeep fandom. It was inevitable that Reese was going to get criticized for wearing a Bears jersey even though there’s nothing wrong with supporting her new city.

Reese took to Twitter/X to explain just that.

Reese made it clear that she wasn’t going to go on any kind of NFL tour. She’s a Ravens fan as a Baltimore native, but she’s also embracing the city that she plays in now. There’s nothing unusual about that at all.

Angel Reese getting a vote over Caitlin Clark for Rookie of the Year isn’t that outlandish

Angel Reese was better this season than you think.

This whole narrative of Angel Reese vs. Caitlin Clark is so over, but of course it pops up when the Indiana Fever guard was one vote away from a unanimous WNBA Rookie of the Year award.

And it’s silly. Because Reese had an unbelievable rookie year and deserves some flowers. This is a player who exploded on a worse Chicago Sky team and broke the WNBA single-season rebounding record and didn’t even finish out the season. She broke the rookie record for double-doubles.

There are a lot of questions flying around about who among WNBA reporters voted for Reese. That is moot (and also, if you’re hunting around for the reporter who did it to shame them, that’s horrible and you should stop it immediately).

It’s not that hot of a take. Does Clark deserve the award? Without a doubt! Maybe it’s more surprising that there weren’t a few more votes for Reese.

Angel Reese’s side-eye with Marlon Humphrey became an instant meme

Ange Reese totally nailed “The Office” camera stare.

Angel Reese might have unintentionally created a new meme.

Admittedly, when we wrote about Angel meeting Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey during a recent Ravens game, it was because Marlon heaped praise on Angel, seemingly telling her he watched basketball because of her. (Also, Seth Rollins was in the background during the exchange, which seemed so wild).

But, upon further inspection, something else also happened. It’s possible Reese might not have been totally into the interaction because internet sleuths uncovered that Angel seemingly gave a nearby camera a side-eye right after meeting the Ravens cornerback. Here’s the exchange again:

Just before the clip cuts, Angel looks into the camera like an episode of The Office or Abbott Elementary. Here’s what we mean:

Ultimately, fans believe this look is because Humphrey is seemingly insincere, and Angel is on to him. They uncovered a video from 2023 of Marlon talking about LSU and Iowa’s national title game.

If Reese was why Humphrey started watching women’s basketball, the clip might somewhat contradict that notion. Of course, Reese’s reaction, paired with the discovery, created a new meme.

Angel Reese said she is ‘heartbroken’ over Sky coach Teresa Weatherspoon’s reported firing

Teresa Weatherspoon has been reportedly fired by the Sky, and Angel Reese said she’s heartbroken over the news.

The Chicago Sky reportedly made a genuinely stunning move on Thursday night, firing coach Teresa Weatherspoon after just a single season.

Chicago Sun-TimesAnnie Costabile reported the news, which comes after Weatherspoon posted a 13-27 record in a rebuilding year for Chicago.

The reported decision came out of nowhere, as Weatherspoon had the Sky in playoff contention for a majority of the season until superstar rookie forward Angel Reese’s season-ending injury earlier this month.

Reese praised Weatherspoon just a couple of days ago and shared her shocked reaction on social media after the reported firing.

“I’m heartbroken,” Reese said on Twitter (X) after the news was public. “I’m literally lost for words knowing what this woman meant to me in such a pivotal point in my life. She was the only person that believed in me. The one that trusted me.”

You can see Reese’s full comment below on the reported firing.

Angel Reese spoke out about the racist fan incidents plaguing the WNBA

Angel Reese is speaking out about the racist, fan-related incidents plaguing the WNBA.

Chicago Sky rookie forward Angel Reese is speaking out as the conversation around racist incidents targeted at WNBA players understandably intensifies.

Sharing a clip from ESPN’s Andraya Carter addressing the problematic issues the league faces, Reese shared her perspective about how she feels she’s been treated during the past two years.

“Y’all know i’ve been going through this for the last 2 years but was told ‘save the tears’ & ‘stop playing victim,'” Reese shared through her social media on Thursday evening. “Y’all a little late to the party and could have tried to put out this fire way before it started….”

Angel Reese gleefully danced and sang at an Usher concert while the singer serenaded her

Have fun, girl.

Angel Reese is enjoying the time available to her during the offseason while she heals.

As Reese explained about her season-ending injury a few weeks back, she would need time to heal once her surgery was complete before diving into any rehab or offseason work. So, how is Angel spending her offseason with time on her hands? Seemingly, she is traveling and living her best life.

Reese stopped by a San Francisco 49ers-Los Angeles Rams game Sunday before appearing at an Usher concert hours later. In a new video, Reese dances away (and even drops a few notes) while Usher performs one of his well-known serenades to celebrity guests. He can even be heard at one point saying, “Angel, [you’re] tall,” to which Reese hysterically responds, “Well, duh!”

Cathy Engelbert apologized to WNBA players for failing to condemn abusive Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese fans

Cathy Engelbert apologized to players for botching an opportunity to call out unhinged fans. Here’s what she said.

WNBA commissioner Cathy Engelbert walked back her comments earlier this week, where she failed to address the abusive words and actions coming from Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese fans.

Engelbert recently appeared on CNBC and was asked about the online discourse that has turned into racial and sexist abuse. The commissioner seemingly sidestepped the question, leaning into the “rivalry” between the two rookies and speaking about how both players should “ignore” those fans.

The commissioner’s answers — and subsequent follow-up tweet attempting to clarify her comments — did not sit well with Breanna Stewart and other players across the league. According to Rachel Bachman of The Wall Street Journal, Engelbert apologized Friday in a letter to the players. Here’s part of what it said:

“I was asked a question about WNBA rivalries and the dark side of social media and race, and simply put, my answer missed the mark, and I’m sorry.”

“I regret that I didn’t express, in a clear and definitive way, condemnation of the hateful speech that is all too often directed at WNBA players on social media. This is a teachable moment and one that I embrace with humility. There is absolutely no room for racism, misogyny, homophobia and other forms of hate in the WNBA or anywhere.”

“I know many of you have been dealing with it for a long time. I want us as a league to do our part to change the too often toxic and abusive nature of social media discourse.”

Per Jackie Powell of The Next, Stewart seemed receptive to Engelbert’s apology and even spoke with the commissioner on the phone.

It is also worth noting that Women’s National Basketball Players Association (WNBPA) president and Seattle Storm forward Nneka Ogwumike chatted with Engelbert as well.

Sue Bird has zero concerns about Angel Reese’s shooting percentage and neither should you

Sue Bird isn’t worried about Angel Reese’s game, and you shouldn’t be either. Here’s why.

Despite breaking several WNBA and rookie records, Angel Reese‘s first season in the league hasn’t come without scrutiny. Many people have commented about Reese’s shooting, dinging her for a less-than-stellar percentage. But WNBA legend Sue Bird isn’t worried.

During a recent episode of Sue’s podcast with Megan Rapinoe — A Touch More — the former hooped discussed several topics at length, including the records that Reese broke this season. With a season-ending injury, Angel won’t get to continue building on those records.

However, when healthy, she can work on building up her offensive bag, making her a better pro. Bird seems to agree with that notion, and here’s why she isn’t concerned about the low number (See the clip below and the 15:58 mark of the YouTube video):

“What I find most fascinating about her game is her shooting percentage, and this is why. She shoots something like high thirties…The thing about her game, though…this is in her control.”

“She’s not a guard who’s coming off down screens and coming off flares…like a lot of things have to go your way to get a good shot, or you have to make things go your way to get a good shot…I think for Angel, what’s interesting is she kinda knows what shot she’s gonna get…”

“These shots are coming — at the clip they’re coming, in the places that they’re coming, no matter what. Every single game. Pretty consistent. So, all she really needs to do is bump up her shooting percentage by, like, three, four, [or] five points, which is totally doable. And all of a sudden we’re looking at a kid — instead of averaging like 13 [points] and 13 [rebounds], it’s like 18 [points] and 13 [rebounds]…”
