The 2023 Major League Baseball first-year player draft is taking place Sunday-Tuesday in Seattle, Washington.

The MLB first-year player draft is being held in conjunction with the 2023 MLB All-Star Game on Tuesday.

Tennessee junior pitcher Andrew Lindsey was selected by Miami in the fifth round with the No. 146 overall pick.

Lindsey played at Tennessee in 2023 after transferring from Charlotte.

Lindsey (3-4) appeared in 21 games, including nine starts, with the Vols. The former Vol recorded a 2.90 ERA and 73 strikeouts in 71.1 innings.

He is the third Vol to be selected in the 2023 MLB draft.

Tennessee junior pitcher Chase Dollander was selected in the first-round by Colorado with the No. 9 overall pick.

Tennessee junior shortstop Maui Ahuna was selected by San Francisco in the fourth-round with the No. 117 overall pick.

Rounds 3-10 will be held Monday beginning at 2 p.m. EDT and can be watched on MLB.com. Rounds 11-20 are slated for Tuesday (2 p.m. EDT, MLB.com).

Andrew Lindsey earns All-America honors

Tennessee baseball pitcher Andrew Lindsey earns All-America honors.

Tennessee junior pitcher earned All-America honors from Baseball America for the 2023 season.

Lindsey is the 56th player in program history to earn All-America honors. He is the ninth Vols’ pitcher to be named an All-American under head coach Tony Vitello and pitching coach Frank Anderson. Vitello and Anderson have served in their respective roles since 2018.

Lindsey (3-4) appeared in 21 games, including nine starts, in 2023 at Tennessee. He recorded 73 strikeouts and a 2.90 ERA.

The Vols advanced to the College World Series for a second time in three seasons during the 2023 campaign.

The 6-foot-3, 216-pound Lindsey is from Waverly Central High School in Waverly, Tennessee.

Tennessee announces starting pitcher versus LSU in College World Series

Tennessee baseball announces starting pitcher versus LSU in the College World Series.

Tennessee (43-20) will open play in the College World Series on Saturday versus LSU (48-15) at Charles Schwab Field Omaha in Omaha, Nebraska.

First pitch between the Vols and Tigers is slated for 7:40 p.m. EDT and ESPN will televise the matchup. Mike Monaco (PxP), Kyle Peterson (analyst), Chris Burke (analyst) and Kris Budden (field reporter) are on the call.

Ahead of the Tennessee-LSU game, the Vols announced its starting pitcher. Andrew Lindsey will start for Tennessee against the Tigers.

Lindsey (3-3) has recorded 69 strikeouts in 20 appearances during the 2023 season for Tennessee.

LSU and Tennessee played during the regular-season. The Tigers won a three-game series, 2-1, at home versus Tennessee March 30-April 1.

Tennessee’s Andrew Lindsey named NCBWA Co-Pitcher of the Week.

Tennessee junior Andrew Lindsey was named Dick Howser Trophy Player of the Week by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association on Tuesday.

Lindsey’s honors comes after his performance in Tennessee’s 5-0 series-opening win at South Carolina during the Vols’ regular-season finale series.

He pitched 8.1 innings, allowing three hits, all singles, and retired the final 17 batters he faced, while recording five strikeouts and zero walks.

Lindsey totaled 103 pitches (68 strikes) against 26 South Carolina batters.

He was also named Southeastern Conference Pitcher of the Week.

Lindsey transferred to Tennessee after playing at Charlotte and Walters State Community College.

Tennessee junior Andrew Lindsey was named SEC Pitcher of the Week Monday.

He received SEC honors after the Vols’ 5-0 victory against South Carolina at Founders Park in Columbia, South Carolina.

Lindsey (2-2) allowed three hits, all singles, and retired the final 17 batters he faced. He pitched 8.1 innings, recording five strikeouts and zero walks.

The shutout was Tennessee’s eighth of the season.

Tennessee (38-18, 16-14 SEC) opens SEC Tournament play Tuesday in Hoover, Alabama.

The No. 7 seed Tennessee, the defending SEC Tournament champions, will play No. 10 Texas A&M (32-23, 14-16 SEC) at approximately 1:30 p.m. EDT. SEC Network will televise the contest.

No. 19 Tennessee (37-17, 15-13 SEC) defeated No. 9 South Carolina (37-16, 15-12 SEC), 5-0, Friday at Founders Park in Columbia, South Carolina.

Andrew Lindsey (2-2) started for Tennessee and pitched 8.1 innings, recording five strikeouts, while allowing three hits and zero walks.

Lindsey totaled 103 pitches (68 strikes) against 26 South Carolina batters.

Friday’s contest was the first of a three-game series between the Vols and Gamecocks.

Tennessee and South Carolina will play a doubleheader on Saturday. Both contests will be seven innings and can be watched on SEC Network.

Game No. 2 of the series is slated for 2 p.m. EDT. The series finale will start 45 minutes following the conclusion of game No. 2.

Vols defeat South Carolina in series opener

Tennessee baseball wins series opener at South Carolina.

No. 19 Tennessee (37-17, 15-13 SEC) defeated No. 9 South Carolina (37-16, 15-12 SEC), 5-0, Friday at Founders Park in Columbia, South Carolina.

Vols’ centerfielder Hunter Ensley went 3-for-4 with three RBIs and gave Tennessee a 1-0 lead in the third inning with an RBI double.

Tennessee extended its advantage to, 4-0, in the fourth inning as Dylan Dreiling hit a two-run home run and Ensley’s RBI single scored Christian Scott.

Dreiling was 2-for-4 against the Gamecocks.

Scott recorded one hit, one stolen base as three runs for the Vols.

Andrew Lindsey (2-2) and Aaron Combs combined to pitch a two-hit shutout for Tennessee.

Limdsey started and pitched 8.1 innings. He allowed three hits and recorded five strikeouts.
