After a big road victory over the Nebraska Cornhuskers, Wisconsin moved up to No. 14 in the latest Amway Coaches’ Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.
Even more importantly, the Badgers (8-2) took care of business, and got some help from the Iowa Hawkeyes, who beat the Minnesota Gophers, dropping their first game of the season. Up next, Wisconsin is set to host the Purdue Boilermakers at Camp Randall, where they are expected to cruise to a victory.
Minnesota (9-1, 6-1 Big Ten), who had arguably the biggest day in the country on last week, fell four spots to No. 11 after losing to the aforementioned Hawkeyes. The loss opened the door for the Badgers to win the Big Ten West, setting up a potentially massive game in Minnesota the final week of the season. The Badgers travel to play the Golden Gophers Nov. 30 in their final game of the regular season, potentially with some major implications in the Big Ten West race.
Wisconsin is one of an impressive six Big Ten teams in the Amway Coaches’ poll. The Big Ten conference has proven again to be one of the toughest football conferences in the country, with five teams in the top 15 alone. Indiana fell out of the poll this week after losing to Penn State.

Last week some Notre Dame fans were upset when the Amway Coaches Poll Powered by USA Today was released because the Fighting Irish dropped a spot to No. 16 despite having their way at Duke.
The Irish were rewarded for their win over previously No. 23 as they moved up one spot to No. 15 in this week’s poll.

It was an eventful week in college football, just not at the top of the polls.

It was certainly a newsworthy week of college football, but there just weren’t many big-time losses.
As a result, this week’s Amway Coaches Poll, powered by USA TODAY, remains mostly unchanged at the top. Minnesota and Baylor fell out of the top ten after each suffered their first losses of the season.
Alabama and Georgia swapped spots with the Crimson Tide dropping from four to five and the Bulldogs taking their place. That, I’d guess, is mostly due to Alabama’s Tua Tagovailoa suffering a dislocated hip against Mississippi State, knocking him out for the season.
LSU, Ohio State and Clemson are the top three teams in the poll, in that order.
In the Big Ten, Penn State rose two spots from No. 11 to No. 9. Minnesota fell from No. 7 to No. 11. Michigan (No. 12), Wisconsin (No. 14), and Iowa (No. 20) round out the conference’s ranked teams.

The Ohio State Buckeyes held on to their No. 2 spot behind the LSU Tigers in the latest Amway Coaches Poll.

The Ohio State Buckeyes held on to their No. 2 spot behind the LSU Tigers in the latest Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.
The Buckeyes did pick up an extra first-place vote, receiving six after only earning five last week. The change was likely due more to LSU’s defensive struggles against Ole Miss than for anything the Buckeyes did in their blowout win over Rutgers. Or it could just be that one voter missed last week, and he would have picked Ohio State at No. 1 then too.
There was a change in the Top 5 this week, as Georgia jumped Alabama. Whether this was due to Georgia’s win over Auburn, Tua Tagovailoa’s injury, or some combination of the two, the Bulldogs have passed the Tide and will likely hold that position as long as Georgia doesn’t lose another game.
Minnesota and Baylor, who each suffered their first losses of the season this week, fell out from the Top 10–from No. 7 to No. 11 and No. 10 to No. 13, respectively.
The Big Ten and SEC led the poll with six ranked teams each. Three teams each were ranked from the AAC and Big 12, while the Pac 12 and Mountain West each put two teams in the poll. The ACC and Sun Belt each had one ranked team, along with Independent Notre Dame.
Navy, Texas, and Indiana all fell out of the rankings, while Oklahoma State, Texas A&M, and San Diego State moved in to replace them.
The Alabama Crimson Tide dropped from No. 4 to No. 5 in the last Amway Coaches Poll, powered by USA TODAY Sports.

Alabama managed to get a sound 35-7 victory over Mississippi State on Saturday, but that did not stop the slide from No. 4 to No. 5 in the latest Amway Coaches Poll, powered by USA TODAY Sports.
Georgia, who was already ranked ahead of the Crimson Tide in the College Football Playoff rankings, jumped to the No. 4 spot while there were some other slight changes to the rankings.
Here is the top 25 in its entirety following Week 12 of the college football season:
1. LSU (10-0)
2. Ohio State (10-0)
3. Clemson (11-0)
4. Georgia (9-1)
5. Alabama (9-1)
6. Oregon (9-1)
7. Oklahoma (9-1)
8. Utah (9-1)
9. Penn State (9-1)
10. Florida (9-2)
11. Minnesota (9-1)
12. Michigan (8-2)
13. Baylor (9-1)
14. Wisconsin (8-2)
15. Notre Dame (8-2)
16. Auburn (7-3)
17. Cincinnati (9-1)
18. Memphis (9-1)
19. Boise State (9-1)
20. Iowa (7-3)
21. SMU (9-1)
22. Oklahoma State (7-3)
23. Appalachian State (9-1)
24. Texas A&M (7-3)
25. San Diego State (8-2)
Other teams receiving votes: Air Force, Virginia Tech, Indiana, Navy, Virginia, UL-Lafayette, Pittsburgh, USC, Louisiana Tech, Wake Forest, Temple, Kansas State
That is now six SEC teams listed in the top 25.
It’s good for Alabama that Texas A&M has made its way back into the rankings, as that is now a top 25 win that the Crimson Tide can claim.
