Mycelium murder comes to Among Us in new Fungle map

The new Among Us Fungle map is crash landing soon, bringing new tasks, dangers, and more to the deduction multiplayer game

The new Among Us Fungle map is crash landing soon, bringing new tasks, dangers, and more to the deduction multiplayer game. The Fungle map launches for all platforms, including mobile game devices, on Oct. 24, 2023, in a free update.

“Get ready to explore a deserted island full of mysterious mushrooms, all-new tasks, and deadly Impostors,” InnerSloth said in the brief announcement. “Tell all your friends, family, and enemies. Mark your calendars. Clean your vents. Scream. Cry. You know, the usual stuff.”

The Fungle is Among Us’ fifth map, and it’s the first one set in the open air rather than on a ship or in a space station. The previous map, The Airship, launched in 2021, with 17 locations, making it the biggest map so far.

Cutscenes take up most of the short map trailer, so while we didn’t get to see just how big it is, we get a small glimpse of what to expect. There’s a new fungus that releases what looks like a spore cloud that you – or an imposter, presumably – can hide in, tasks that seem to include food prep, a lookout station where you can spy on other players, and a fancy new Emergency Meeting animation as well.

Most mushroom forests don’t come fully equipped with ventilation systems, but it looks like InnerSloth worked around that inconvenient fact with plant buds. One brief second in the trailer shows a large plant maw gleefully consuming an imposter, who then appears elsewhere just in time for an Emergency Meeting.

CBS is making an Among Us animated TV show

Indie game developer Innersloth is partnering with CBS Eye Animation to bring an Among Us TV show to life

Indie game developer Innersloth is partnering with CBS Eye Animation to bring an Among Us TV show to life, Variety said in an exclusive report. Owen Dennis, maker of Infinity Train, will serve as the creator and executive producer.

Among Us doesn’t have a story, but Variety says the show will be based on the gameplay premise.

“Members of your crew have been replaced by an alien shapeshifter intent on causing confusion, sabotaging the ship, and killing everyone. Root out the ‘Impostor’ or fall victim to its murderous designs,” the show’s logline reads.

Star Trek: Lower Deck studio Titmouse is handling the production, and Forest Willard, Marcus Bromander, and Carl Neisser from Innersloth will also act as executive producers.

While the game might not have a narrative, the idea behind the gameplay is open-ended enough to support any number of story ideas. Whatever it ends up being, it’s quite the departure from the recent spate of game-to-TV adaptations. Along with The Last of Us, we’ve had announcements about Tom Clancy, God of War, Fallout, and more, but the common thread is that they’re big-budget games backed by major studios, where Among Us is an indie game from a small studio.

There’s no expected timeframe for the Among Us show to air at present.

Among Us VR launches this fall

The highly anticipated VR version of Among Us is coming out soon.

If you were one of the millions swept up in Among Us hype in recent years — there’s an all-new version releasing next month.

During the Meta Connect 2022 showcase on Tuesday, Innersloth announced that Among Us VR is coming out on Nov. 10, 2022, and will be available via the Meta Quest, Rift, and Steam storefronts.

What sets this release apart from Among Us is, well – obviously, the fact it’s in VR. The typical routines like emergency meetings, hardware sabotages, and crew operations are all re-created in full 3D for VR devices. Innersloth co-developed Among Us VR with Schell Games.

Check out the release date announcement trailer below. The shift in perspective is refreshing, that’s for sure!

Among Us VR will launch just in time for the holidays, and we can’t wait to hear how family and friends band together and betray each other as they complete tasks aboard the Skeld II,” Victoria Tran, community director at Innersloth, said in a press release. “The VR version of Among Us remains true to the spirit of the original game while also giving players an all-new way to experience the chaos and thrill of accusing your friends of murder!”

By this point, Among Us is on virtually every platform, from Xbox Game Pass to PlayStation Network and beyond.

Among Us x Hololive collaboration teased: Fans guess which VTubers will be in the event

Among Us has revealed a teaser image for an upcoming collaboration involving ten skins themed around Hololive members.

Much like Fortnite and Fall Guys before it, Among Us realized that their little bean characters are ripe for crossover exploitation. Ratchet & Clank and Scream are among some of the franchises that have previously collaborated with the game, and now it seems like Hololive is going to be added to that list.

For those who don’t know, Hololive is an organization that manages VTubers – a term used to describe those who stream using a virtual avatar, rather than their real face. They are primarily a Japanese organization, but have found success in other languages such as English and Indonesian over the past couple of years.

This event seemingly teases ten skins in silhouette, but fans seem to have worked out which VTuber each skin is based on. We’ll run you through the full list so you know if your favorite idol will be in the game.

The best free iPhone mobile games, ranked

Here’s our lineup of games you can play on your iPhone without having to spend your hard-earned cash.

Free mobile games have come a long way and their focus has shifted from simple ad-based revenue systems to complicated gacha rollercoasters that try to take every penny without consideration for your poor wallet.

It’s through that seemingly endless stream of pay-to-win and freemium games that Apple makes its 30% from every transaction.
However, fortunately, not all games rely on heavy transactions to make a profit while actually delivering quality content. This list features a lineup of titles you can play on your iPhone without having to worry about missing out on any key moments or having to spend your hard-earned cash (or ask your parents for some pocket change).

Among Us is getting friend lists and a Scream crossover

The call is coming from inside the spaceship.

Keeping track of your foes is key to winning in Among Us, so it’s a good thing friend lists are coming to the social deduction phenomenon.

On Monday, develop Innersloth announced that Among Us  is finally getting a friends list. Excellent timing too, since the game only  recently came out on PlayStation  and Xbox consoles. There’s no release date for the feature yet, but community director Victoria Tran states that plenty of new quality of life updates are in the works.

“Many of you have found some of the account creation, Cosmicube redemption, chat choice, and other aspects of the game flow a bit confusing,” Tran said via  Inntersloth’s blog. “Understandable! You’re basically experiencing the building of Among Us and our adjustment to its popularity with us. That being said, confusing you isn’t the goal, so making improvements to the [user interface] is also coming up next.”

Among Us kicked off the social deduction craze back in 2020, cementing it  as an indie darling. In addition to fantastic  crossovers with Arcane League of Legends, Innersloth is collaborating with Paramount Pictures on Scream cosmetics for Among Us. Check out the (adorable) Ghostface skin below.

Tran also says that the Scream  cosmetics will be free once at release! No date for that either, though.

Among Us was a smash-hit on PlayStation in December

The numbers don’t lie, even if imposters do.

The enthusiasm surrounding Among Us  has been going strong for a couple of years now, and it doesn’t appear to be slowing down one bit.

Over on the  PlayStation Blog, Sony revealed the most downloaded games on both PS5 and PS4, and it seems that Among Us  still reigns supreme in the social deduction genre. It only just  came to PlayStation consoles  last month, too.

The PS5 is barely a year old, yet there are already quite a few  great games on the console, some of which made it on the top downloads for last month.

The top 15 most downloaded games on PS5 in December were:

  1. Among Us
  2. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
  3. Call of Duty: Vanguard
  4. Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach
  5. NBA 2K22
  6. Madden NFL 22
  7. Battlefield 2042
  8. Assassin’s Creed Valhalla
  9. Kena: Bridge of Spirits
  10. It Takes Two
  11. FIFA 22
  12. Far Cry 6
  13. Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy
  14. Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut
  15. Deathloop

Meanwhile, the results are only a smidge different on the much-older (but no less relevant) PlayStation console. Given how many  incredible games are on PS4, it’s no surprise that loads of people are still playing on it these days.

The top 15 most downloaded games on PS4 in December were:

  1. Among Us
  2. Call of Duty: Vanguard
  3. Grand Theft Auto V
  4. Madden NFL 22
  5. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales
  6. Marvel’s Spider-Man: Game of the Year Edition
  7. NBA 2K22
  8. Five Nights at Freddy’s: Security Breach
  9. Minecraft
  10. FIFA 22
  11. The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
  12. Red Dead Redemption 2
  13. Battlefield 2042
  14. Jump Force
  15. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare

Between the  League of Legends  crossover  and now being a PlayStation chart-topper, everyone is still in love with Among Us.

Mortal Kombat 11, Firewatch, and more coming to Game Pass this week

Xbox has just announced a slew of new titles coming to Game Pass this week, including Mortal Kombat 11, Firewatch, Broken Age, and more.

Microsoft has just announced the next batch of games coming to Game Pass. On top of beloved indies like Firewatch and Broken Age, the list also includes some heavier hitters like Mortal Kombat 11, all of which are set to hit the service this Thursday, Dec. 16.

These titles come on top of Game Pass’ already stacked lineup for December. As well as Halo Infinite’s highly anticipated launch last week, this month has seen the addition of games like Stardew Valley, Serious Sam 4, Among Us, and One Piece Pirate Warriors 4, the last of which we have been informed on good authority is excellent, but only if you read the manga first.

The full list of games coming to Xbox’s subscription service this month – including titles that have already been added to Game Pass – is as follows.

Games available on Game Pass now

Master Chief in Halo Infinite

Anvil (console/PC) – Dec. 2

Archvale (cloud/console/PC) – Dec. 2

Final Fantasy XIII-2 (console/PC) – Dec. 2

Lawn Mowing Simulator (cloud/console/PC) – Dec. 2

Rubber Bandits (cloud/console/PC) – Dec. 2

Stardew Valley (cloud/console/PC) – Dec. 2

Warhammer 40,000: Battlesector (cloud/console/PC) – Dec. 2

Space Warlord Organ Trading Simulator (cloud/console/PC) – Dec. 7

Serious Sam 4 (console/PC) – Dec. 7

Halo Infinite (cloud/console/PC) – Dec. 8

One Piece Pirate Warriors 4 (cloud/console/PC) – Dec. 9

Aliens: Fireteam Elite (cloud/console/PC) – Dec. 14

Games coming to Game Pass this week

Firewatch is coming to Xbox Game Pass

Among Us (console) – Dec. 15

Ben 10: Power Trip (cloud/console/PC) – Dec. 16

Broken Age (cloud/console/PC) – Dec. 16

Firewatch (cloud/console/PC) – Dec. 16

The Gunk (cloud/console/PC) – Dec. 16

Lake (cloud/console/PC) – Dec. 16

Mortal Kombat 11 (cloud/console/PC) – Dec. 16

Paw Patrol: Mighty Pups Save Adventure Bay (cloud/console/PC) – Dec. 16

Race With Ryan (cloud/console/PC) – Dec. 16

Record of Lodoss War: Deedlit in Wonder Labyrinth (cloud/console/PC) – Dec. 16

Transformers: Battlegrounds (cloud/console/PC) – Dec. 16

Again, the standout game here is obviously Halo Infinite. For those wondering about whether or not Master Chief’s latest adventure is one worth embarking on, the campaign is the best the series has been since Halo 3, while the corresponding multiplayer component is a beautiful dance

If Halo isn’t exactly your thing, we’d highly recommend taking Firewatch for a spin. Campo Santo’s debut effort from 2016 is widely revered as one of the best indie games ever made, meaning it’s now a must-play for anyone with an active Game Pass subscription – especially now you can pick one up for just $1.

‘Among Us’ is coming to PlayStation and Xbox in December

Among Us will be on PlayStation and Xbox soon!

Do you want to accuse family members of murder this holiday? Well, you’re in luck, as Among Us is  coming to PlayStation and Xbox on Dec. 14!

Yes, after being on PC, mobile, and Switch for years, the hit social deduction game in space will be on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. Best of news of all? Among Us  is cross-platform, meaning you’ll be able to play with friends regardless of what device they might be playing on. So get ready to blow everyone out of the airlock into space, including uncle David who refuses to pass the mashed potatoes over during Christmas dinner. Just awful.

If you happen to pick Among Us  up on PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 5, you’ll get some exclusive cosmetics based on Ratchet & Clank  cosmetics. Finally, a chance to off that annoying Lombax for good.

Xbox doesn’t appear to be getting any exclusive cosmetics, but on the plus side, Among Us will be free on Xbox Game Pass. So you won’t even need to shell out extra cash for the game if you are already a subscriber.

There are also a couple of big physical editions of Among Us  coming for all consoles, too: The Crewmate Edition for $29.99 USD, The Imposter Edition for $49.99, and the Ejected Edition for $89.99. They all come with a bunch of cool swag and are available for pre-order on the Maximum Games Store
