4 Titans named as potential cut candidates

The Tennessee Titans need to make some changes this offseason and there are four potential candidates who could get cut in the process.

The Tennessee Titans have some serious adjustments to make this offseason after going 3-14 in 2024. They started the 2025 offseason by firing general manager Ran Carthon and bringing in Mike Borgonzi to replace him. Brian Callahan remains the head coach, and while Colt Anderson remains with the team, he is no longer the special teams coordinator.

Aside from staff changes, there are likely to be a number of adjustments made to player personnel. To that end, Over the Cap created a list of the top 100 cut candidates for 2025, and there are four Titans on that list.

LB Kenneth Murray

Kenneth Murray is due $7.5 million in 2025, but none of it is guaranteed. He has completed one year on his two-year contract and, according to OTC, has a 58% chance of a negative fate. These are the reasons they have him as a cut candidate, although the likelihood that Murray is cut is slim. He led the Titans in tackles with 95 (57 solo) and added 3.5 sacks, eight tackles for a loss, two passes defensed, one interception, and one forced fumble.

The Titans can get more out of him in a trade if they work the deal right, but the Titans also like Murray and may not want him to go anywhere at all.

EDGE Arden Key

Linebacker Arden Key was second in sacks this year with 6.5. He added in 42 tackles (24 solo), 11 tackles for a loss, one pass defensed, two forced fumbles, and one fumble recovery. He’s in the second year of a three-year contract and is set to receive $7 million in 20205. However, none of that is guaranteed, and OTC says his contract has a 73.1% chance of a negative fate.

EDGE Harold Landry III

Harold Landry is owed $17.5 million in 2025, the second year of his two-year contract. None of it is guaranteed, and OTC’s negative fate chances are set at 51.2%. However, Landry led the team with nine sacks and added 71 tackles (42 solo), 15 tackles for a loss and four passes defensed. He was a leader on the defense and helped out on special teams as well. It’s highly unlikely that the Titans cut Landry this year.

S Amani Hooker

Amani Hooker is set to make $8.39 million in 2025, but again, none of it is guaranteed. He has completed two years of the three-year extension to his rookie contract, and OTC has his negative fate chances at 75.4%. However, Hooker led the Titans with five interceptions in 2024. He was the fourth leading tackler with 71 tackles (47 solo), four tackles for a loss, nine passes defensed, and two forced fumbles. Hooker has been with the Titans since they drafted him in 2019, and he has performed well. There are no indications that the Titans will cut him at this time.

Titans injury report: Amani Hooker out, Tony Pollard limited

The Tennessee Titans returned to the practice field and watched multiple starters led by Amani Hooker sidelined.

The Tennessee Titans were back on the practice field Wednesday, ramping up preparations for their Week 18 tussle with the Houston Texans.

The Titans have numerous players dealing with nagging injuries, something that is common at this stage of the season. Unfortunately, for some, this may cause them to miss the season finale, or even be the end of their Titans’ career.

Safety Amani Hooker headlined the group that was held out due to injury. In all, six players missed practice on Thursday, most of whom are battling nagging injuries and have been listed in previous weeks.

Tennessee did receive some positive news with running back Tony Pollard returning in a limited capacity and guard Dillon Radunz practicing full. Both players missed the team’s Week 17 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars because of injuries.

The Titans’ complete injury report for Wednesday can be found below.

Did not participate: WR Tyler Boyd (foot), K Nick Folk (abdomen), LB Otis Reese (ankle), S Amani Hooker (shoulder), OLB Arden Key (head), RB Tyjae Spears (concussion)

Titans downgrade Tony Pollard, Amani Hooker to out

The Tennessee Titan downgraded Tony Pollard and Amani Hooker to out for the Week 17 battle with the Jaguars.

The Tennessee Titans received some bad news Saturday on the injury front that will have an impact on their Week 17 battle with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Tennessee announced that they have downgraded running back Tony Pollard (ankle/illness) and safety Amani Hooker (shoulder) to out. Both Pollard and Hooker entered the weekend questionable on the final injury report.

With Pollard sidelined, Tyjae Spears should see the bulk of the action and build upon his string of impressive performances. Pollard has been battling an ankle injury, but a report surfaced that he was being left in Nashville while battling the illness.

Hooker is the latest player in the secondary to miss time due to injury. Either safety Kendell Brooks or Mike Brown should step into his role, but this will be a big loss for the defense against the Jaguars.

The Titans and Jaguars will meet at EverBank Stadium on Sunday in Week 17 action.

Titans downgrade two starters to out vs. Jaguars

Titans downgrade two starters to out vs. Jaguars

The Tennessee Titans downgraded starting running back Tony Pollard and safety Amani Hooker from questionable to out against the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 17 on Saturday.

Pollard (ankle) and Hooker (shoulder) were both listed as questionable on Tennessee’s final injury report. Pollard was reportedly expected to play through his injury but came down with the flu after the Titans practiced on Friday.

Pollard has rushed for 1,017 yards and five touchdowns over 238 carries this season and added 41 receptions for 238 yards. Hooker has recorded 71 total tackles with four for loss, five interceptions, nine defended passes and two forced fumbles.

Tennessee previously ruled starters, right guard Dillon Radunz and kicker Nick Folk, out against Jacksonville on Friday. Starting wide receiver Tyler Boyd is questionable to play.

The Titans signed kicker Matthew Wright, guard Arlington Hambright and linebacker Raekwon McMillan to their active roster from their practice squad, and elevated offensive lineman and safety Gervarrius Owens from their practice squad after ruling Pollard and Hooker out.

The Titans released cornerbacks Tre Avery and Gabe Jeudy-Lally from their active roster in corresponding moves.

Jaguars vs. Titans is scheduled to kick off at 1 p.m. ET on Sunday at EverBank Stadium in Jacksonville, Fla.

Titans injury report: Dillon Radunz out, Amani Hooker questionable

The Tennessee Titans released their final injury report and see multiple starters led by guard Dillon Radunz out for Week 17.

The Tennessee Titans finished up their work on the field in preparation for their Week 17 battle with the Jacksonville Jaguars on Friday and have a lot of injury questions heading into the weekend.

The biggest blow could be the loss of Dillon Radunz. The veteran offensive lineman has missed practice all week with a shoulder injury and is officially out. This will definitely impact a unit that has struggled throughout the 2024 campaign and has seen their depth pushed to the limit.

Kicker Nick Folk and linebacker Otis Reese are also listed as out heading into the weekend. Wide receiver Colton Dowell is also out, but he has not been activated from the injury list and would be ineligible.

The final injury report and game statuses for the Titans and Jaguars are below.

Titans-Bengals Week 15: Offense, defense and special teams snap counts

The Tennessee Titans lost their Week 15 game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Here are the snap counts on offense, defense and special teams.

The Tennessee Titans fell to the Cincinnati Bengals 37-27 on Sunday in a game that saw 10 turnovers and 26 penalties between the two teams. It was a sloppy outing that forced Brian Callahan to bench Will Levis after his third interception, and Tony Pollard’s foot/ankle injury impacted the ground game.

There was a lot of back-and-forth in this game, and both teams accumulated 370 yards or more on offense, but the Titans’ six turnovers compared to the Bengals’ four turnovers is what made the difference.

Now, let’s examine the snap counts that contributed to the Titans’ Week 15 loss.

Offensive snaps: 70
Defensive snaps: 69
Special teams snaps: 22

Despite Nick Westbrook-Ikhine and Calvin Ridley getting the most snap counts on offense, Tyjae Spears was the most productive offensive player on Sunday. Chigoziem Okonkwo was the second-most productive offensive player, despite being on the field far less than both Ridley and Westbrook-Ikhine.

On defense, the only player on the field for the entire game was Amani Hooker, and he recorded six tackles (three solo). Chidobe Awuzie and Jarvis Brownlee Jr. were only one snap shy of being out there for every defensive play, and both played relatively well.

The special teams unit wasn’t called upon very often on Sunday, and that’s probably a good thing for the Titans given how they’ve played of late.

Titans’ Will Levis, Tyjae Spears practice in full, L’Jarius Sneed sits again

The Titans’ injury report after Thursday’s practice ahead of their Week 10 matchup against the Chargers on Sunday.

The Tennessee Titans have seen their fair share of injuries this season. The offensive line is in a shambles after losing Lloyd Cushenberry for the season. With Dillon Radunz also injured, it moved Daniel Brunskill to guard and Corey Levin became the center. Safety Quandre Diggs is also gone for the season, and for the umpteenth straight practice, L’Jarius Sneed continues to nurse a quad injury.

This week, though, the Titans are seeing progress with some of the nagging injuries players have been playing through. Will Levis was a full participant on Thursday, T’Vondre Sweat is not on the injury report, and Tyjae Spears practiced in full. There were a couple of new injuries, but only two players sat out of Thursday’s practice.

The Titans’ Thursday injury report can be found below:

Did not participate: CB L’Jarius Sneed (quad), RB Tony Pollard (foot)

Limited participants: WR Tyler Boyd (shoulder), S Amani Hooker (groin), DT Jeffery Simmons (hamstring), G Dillon Radunz (foot), RB Julius Chestnut (foot), TE Nick Vannett (neck)

Full participant: WR Calvin Ridley (shoulder), QB Will Levis (shoulder), S Mike Edwards (NIR-Rest), RB Tyjae Spears (hamstring), CB Tre Avery (hamstring)

Titans injury report: L’Jarius Sneed sits out again

The Tennessee Titans returned to the practice field Wednesday and released their first injury report for the week.

The Tennessee Titans are banged up as they prepare to take the field Sunday against the Los Angeles Chargers in Week 10 action. Prior to hitting the field to start preparations for this one, the Titans made a couple of injury-related roster moves.

The team officially placed center Lloyd Cushenberry (Achilles) and safety Quandre Diggs (foot) on injured reserve, likely ending their seasons. To fill one of the roster spots, the Titans signed veteran safety Mike Edwards, who was in Tennessee Wednesday for a physical.

Once they hit the field, eyes were on the players who sat out the Week 9 victory due to injury to see if there was any chance of a return to action. Unfortunately, cornerback L’Jarius Sneed continued to be sidelined with his quad injury. He was joined on the sideline by defensive tackle Jeffery Simmons.

Quarterback Will Levis, guard Dillon Radunz, and running back Tony Pollard led the group of eight players that were limited, which included newly acquired safety Mike Edwards.

Cornerback Tre Avery returned as a full participant with his hamstring injury.

The Titans’ Wednesday injury report can be found below:

Did not participate: CB L’Jarius Sneed (quad), Jeffery Simmons (NIR/rest)

Limited Participant: RB Tony Pollard (foot), WR Tyler Boyd (shoulder), WR Calvin Ridley (NIR/rest), S Armani Hooker (groin), G Dillon Radunz (foot), QB Will Levis (shoulder), RB Tyjae Spears (hamstring), S Mike Edwards (NIR/rest)

Full participants: CB Tre Avery (hamstring)

5 Titans players to watch in Week 10 vs. Chargers

The Chargers return home to face a Titans team that lacks a lot of top-tier talent, particularly on the offensive side of the ball.

Coming off consecutive victories, the Chargers return to home to face the 2-6 Titans in Week 10. The AFC South has struggled, primarily due to below-average play from the quarterback position.

Tennessee is coming off its second win of the season, albeit against a poor Patriots team. Here are some Titans players that the Chargers will still need to keep their eye on this Sunday to avoid a possible upset.

RB Tony Pollard

Tennessee was expected to have a split backfield this season, but Pollard has completely taken over the job. He’s looked like the 2022 version of himself as he seems to be fully healthy after a gruesome leg injury nearly 24 months ago. Pollard ranks 10th in the NFL in rushing with 622 yards, and he’s added on 135 receiving yards and three total touchdowns as well. The veteran is com

WR Calvin Ridley

Now that DeAndre Hopkins is gone, Ridley is the Titans’ only legitimate threat through the air. In fact, he’s the only Titan with more than 200 receiving yards. In eight games, the 2018 first-rounder has 27 catches for 399 yards and a touchdown. If the Chargers’ cornerback crew is able to slow down Ridley, they should have no problems limiting this Titans offense.

DL Jeffery Simmons

For years now, Simmons has been one of the game’s premier defensive linemen. Despite the team’s lack of success this season, he has still been excellent in every aspect. Simmons is the primary guy that the Chargers offensive line will have to account on every play this weekend. He’s been elite in stopping the run and has added in 3.0 sacks and a forced fumble as well.

S Amani Hooker

Hooker has quietly become one of the league’s most underrated safeties. He’s become a real playmaker for this defense throughout the season. Hooker has three interceptions, seven pass deflections, and two forced fumbles across eight starts. He may be asked to do even more moving forward, as the Titans lost fellow safety Quandre Diggs for the season last weekend.

CB L’Jarius Sneed

Chargers fans are familiar with this name, as Sneed spent four seasons with the Chiefs. He was traded to the Titans this past offseason and eventually signed to a four-year, $76.4 million extension. So far, the deal has looked like a bust. Pro Football Focus has rated him as one of the worst corners in the NFL this season. He’s played just five games due to injuries, but even when he’s been active, the veteran has been ineffective. With how hot the Chargers offense has been lately, look for Justin Herbert to attack Sneed’s side early and often, no matter who he’s guarding.
