On Sunday, the Alabama men’s basketball team added a 5th recruit to its 2020 recruiting class as four-star forward Alex Tchikou committed to the Crimson Tide.

This news comes a week after he shared with Rivals.com that he was switching recruiting classes from 2021 to 2020. He had this to say about his decision:
“I think I’m ready to skip my senior year. I have played against the best seniors in the country this season as a junior and I put numbers against all of them. I had a lot of comments from people surprised that I was only a junior. The other reason is that I hope (to be) getting drafted after one year in college but my original plan was the Draft 2022 and I think two years of college is better than one year in high school and one in college.”
He also shared how “style of play” and the “relationship with coaching staff and head coach, and have a chance to play as a freshman,” was going to be a big factor as well. It makes even more sense as to why he chose Alabama.
Tchikou, a four star forward from Glendale, Arizona (originally from France), is ranked as the 58th best player, and the 11th best power forward in the country, according to 247Sports.
Tchikou had offers from Arizona, FSU, Mississippi State, and more.
After Tchikou’s commitment, Alabama now has the 12th best 2020 recruiting in the country, according to 247Sports.
Tchikou is joining four-star guard Josh Primo, four-star forward Keon Ambrose-Hylton, three-star forward Darius Miles,as well as three-star JUCO transfer Keon Ellis. Jordan Bruner also joined Alabama after transferring from Yale.
There’s no doubt with the talent returning for the Crimson Tide, plus a top 15 2020 recruiting class, Nate Oats may be about to provide the type of season Alabama fans have been hoping for, for many years.
The Alabama Crimson Tide’s first game of the season will be on Tuesday, November 10th against Jacksonville State in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
