Bills welcome Alec Anderson back to practice after ambulance departure

Great news:

All is good for Alec Anderson after a potentially scary moment.

On Tuesday, the injury bug turned its ugliest possible head toward the 24-year-old offensive lineman. He was escorted from the practice field at St. John Fisher University in an ambulance and was taken to a local hospital due to a heat-related issue.

The following day, the team had off. Buffalo returned to workouts in Rochester on Thursday and Anderson was back in the fold with his teammates:

Anderson is in his second season with the Bills.

The 6-foot-5, 305 pound lineman signed in Buffalo after going undrafted at the 2023 NFL draft last year. He did stick around on the team’s roster last season and has an opportunity to do so again in 2024.

Following Thursday’s practice, the Bills will pack up and leave Rochester and head to Orchard Park. The team’s annual “Blue & Red” practice at Highmark Stadium is slated for Friday.

With Anderson being released, he’ll have a full day of recovery ahead of him on Wednesday. The team has the day off from training camp practice following two-straight days of workouts which were of the full-pad variety.

WATCH: This #Bills player would eat a chicken wing from your hand:

The answer is Alec Anderson.

To celebrate “National Chicken Wing Day” on Saturday, the Bills video department put together a video to celebrate the occasion. Doing a fist bump with players as they walked by, everyone was surprised to find out the person behind the camera had a chicken wing hidden in their hand.

Everyone declined to eat the wing when offered… except Anderson.

He dove right in:

Bills make O-line change to practice squad roster

#Bills make O-line change to practice squad roster:

The Buffalo Bills have switched out offensive linemen on their practice squad ahead of facing the Cincinnati Bengals.

However, it does not appear that the transactions will give any reason for concern ahead of that Divisional-round matchup.

The Bills announced on Thursday that offensive lineman Greg Mancz was brought back to the team via the taxi squad.

Mancz was originally signed by Buffalo last spring. Out of training camp, he made the team’s practice squad. He was later released in November.

Mancz has since bounced around the NFL, spending time with the Cleveland Browns and then Minnesota Vikings. Last week, the Vikings went on to release him.

In search of a home, he returns to Buffalo where he replaces other depth. Making room for Mancz was undrafted rookie Alec Anderson.

Anderson’s designation gives one no reason to worry.

On occasion, an addition to the taxi unit could appear to be a move made to add depth due to an injury to a starter.

However, Anderson was not release, he landed on injured reserve himself.

Anderson has suffered an undisclosed injury and Mancz simply takes his spot. The starting five is still intact.
