Report: Michigan State athletic director outspoken about Michigan football sign-stealing in Big Ten meeting

Alan Haller reportedly delivered a ‘powerful message’ about Michigan sign-stealing in Big Ten meeting

According to a new report from ESPN’s Pete Thamel, when the Big Ten’s athletic directors met with Big Ten commissioner Tony Pettiti on Thursday, it was Michigan State athletic director Alan Haller who delivered ‘the most powerful message’.

According to Thamel’s report, Haller mentioned that the MSU football team had to make changes when they found out that Michigan had their signals on the Wednesday before they played. Haller also said he was concerned about player safety since the other team could presumably know where they would be going on plays.

Thamel reported that Haller also called back to the infamous Michigan tunnel incident, when Michigan demanded swift justice from the Big Ten, before the investigation was completed.

Michigan State AD Alan Haller provides community update on football coaching search

Michigan State AD Alan Haller provides community update on football coaching search

On Monday, Michigan State athletic director Alan Haller published a note to the college community regarding the football head coach situation and subsequent coaching search.

Regarding the search, we will thoroughly evaluate and do everything required to find the right individual to lead the Spartan football program. Throughout the process, I won’t be able to provide many updates. I realize that our community has a tremendous passion for Spartan football and that there’s a great desire for more information about this process. However, privacy is important to attract top-caliber candidates, most of whom are involved in their own current seasons. I expect that you will hear a lot of names and rumors. I expect to speak with many individuals throughout this process. While some are candidates, others will be resources for me as I go about my due diligence to ensure the best hire for Michigan State.’

WATCH: MSU basketball coach Tom Izzo has emotional hug with Alan Haller, Mel Tucker

WATCH: Tom Izzo had a nice heartfelt moment with Alan Haller and Mel Tucker following Tuesday’s win over Indiana

Tom Izzo was full of emotions after Michigan State defeated Indiana 80-65 on Tuesday night in front of a sellout crowd at the Breslin Center.

After the win, Izzo found himself having two huge embraces as he walked into the tunnel. The first with MSU athletic director Alan Haller and the second with MSU football coach Mel Tucker, both very close the leader of Michigan State basketball.

A tearful Tom Izzo shared a touching moment with Michigan State’s AD after first home win since shooting

Emotions were still heavy for Michigan State’s game against Indiana.

The Michigan State men’s basketball team hosted Indiana on Tuesday in what was an heavy game for many Spartans as their first at home since a deadly campus shooting.

Three students were killed and five others wounded last Monday when a 43-year-old man opened fire on the East Lansing campus. Though the Michigan State women played at home Saturday, holding a pregame ceremony to honor the victims, emotions were still raw for the men’s game.

Almost everyone in attendance wore “Spartan Strong” shirts, including the coaching staff, and a moment of silence was held before tip-off. After securing the 80-65 win, all a teary-eyed Tom Izzo could do was bury his head in his hands.

As Izzo walked off the court, he was embraced by Michigan State athletic director Alan Haller.

The two shared a long hug before Izzo walked further into the hallway where he was greeted by head football coach Mel Tucker.

There’s nothing a basketball game could do to bring back the people who lost their lives in a senseless act of violence. But the feeling of community and togetherness present at Breslin Center seemed to be a short respite for everyone effected.

MSU AD Alan Haller hints at upcoming conference realignment for Big Ten

It appears there will be some shakeup to the Big Ten conference in the near future

It appears there will be some shakeup to the Big Ten conference in the near future.

Michigan State Athletic Director Alan Haller made some interesting comments on Monday regarding potential conference realignment in the Big Ten. Haller was asked about any shakeup to the Big Ten coming down the pipeline during the Michigan State luncheon with the Detroit Economic Club and he hinted at something being in the works.

Here’s what Haller had to say (courtesy of the Detroit Free Press’ Tony Garcia):

At first glance, this seems to be related to the conference working to either remove or adjust the current divisions used in football. For a long time, the imbalance of competition between the Big Ten East and West Divisions has been clear so it appears the league is working to resolve this issue.

Haller’s comments could also be related to the league exploring adding more teams to the conference. There was a ton of buzz last year when Texas and Oklahoma jumped ship of the Big 12 to join the SEC, but the Big Ten has been quiet ever since then. Could this mean the league is finally getting off the sidelines and looking to add one or two more teams?

Either way, it’s exciting to hear the conference is looking to make some changes that I’d assume would be positive moves. We should hopefully know soon enough what those changes will be.

Alan Haller unanimously voted in as new athletic director

The board of trustees have approved Alan Haller as the new athletic director

Rumors circulated just a few days ago that Alan Haller was set to be named the newest athletic director of Michigan State University. Haller has previously served in a deputy AD role for the university.

The last hurdle to overcome for Haller was being approved by the board of trustees. That proved to be no problem at all, as it was a unanimous decision to vote Haller as the next AD.

Haller brings a wealth of knowledge to the position along with his familiarity to the university.

Haller will look to continue the growth of Michigan State athletics.

Report: Alan Haller soon to be named Michigan State’s athletic director

Reports are circling that Alan Haller is going to be named Michigan State’s next AD

Michigan State has been in search of a new athletic director for several weeks, when Bill Beekman announced he was going to step away from the role and move into another senior leadership position with the university.

There have been many names thrown around as potential candidates and possibilists as a replacement to Beekman, but one name has been around the whole time, and that is Alan Haller.

Haller is currently serving as the deputy athletic director and is expected to get the promotion, beating out Aubrun’s Allen Greene for the job.

Haller was a member of the Michigan State football team from 1988-91 before being drafted by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
