Alabama flips four-star safety from Michigan, commits to Crimson Tide

Alabama flipped a safety from Michigan on Monday night.

After losing three different commitments over the last week, two of which were flips, the Alabama Crimson Tide have now added another member of their 2025 recruiting class as highly-touted safety Ivan Taylor committed to the program Monday night.

Taylor flipped his commitment to Alabama from the Michigan Wolverines, with whom he had been committed to since July of 2024. Prior to being a Michigan commit, Taylor was a Notre Dame Fighting Irish commitment from December of 2023 to July of 2024, which is when he flipped to the Wolverines.

Taking a deeper look at Alabama’s newest commitment, Taylor ranks as the nation’s No. 59 overall player in the 2025 class according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Taylor is also considered as the nation’s No. 7 overall safety, as well as the No. 9 player in the state of Florida where he attends West Orange High School.

Following the commitment of Taylor, Alabama’s 2025 class is now back up to 21 total commitments, and sits at No. 3 in the nation. Taylor is also the lone safety committed.

Alabama loses four-star running back, long-time commitment

Alabama has now lost three commitments over the last week.

The Alabama Crimson Tide lost a long-time member of their 2025 recruiting class Sunday afternoon, as Anthony Rogers officially announced that he was decommitting from the program.

Announced on social media, Rogers was the lone member of Alabama’s 2025 class still commitment from the Nick Saban era, as the former Crimson Tide commit had previously been committed since June of 2023.

An in-state prospect for the Crimson Tide, Rogers is rated as the nation’s No. 141 overall player in the 2025 recruiting cycle according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. A four-star prospect, Rogers is also ranked as the No. 8 running back nationally, as well as the No. 10 player in the state of Alabama where he attends Carver-Montgomery High School.

According to a report as well, Rogers will now choose between either the Georgia Bulldogs or Ohio State Buckeyes after decommitting from Alabama.

Following the decommitment of Rogers, which was Alabama’s third over the last week, the Crimson Tide’s 2025 class now ranks No. 4 nationally with 20 total commitments. Only one of those is a running back in highly-rated four-star Akylin Dear.

Alabama quarterback commit finishes regular season with impressive stat line

The Alabama commit posted an impressive regular season stat line.

When it comes to the Alabama Crimson Tide’s overall 2025 recruiting class, there are arguably few names who stick out more than Keelon Russell.

A five-star prospect, Russell is the highest-rated of Alabama’s commitments in the cycle – which sits at 21 total – and is considered as the nation’s No. 8 overall player according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Russell also ranks as the nation’s No. 3 overall quarterback, and was the winner of the prestigious Elite 11 quarterback competition back during the summer.

Along with those rankings, Russell also plays for one of the nation’s top prep teams at Duncanville High School, which is also where the five-star ranks as the No. 3 player in the state of Texas.

There, Russell is also in the midst of a truly special senior season where the five-star is making a case for MaxPreps National Player of the Year, recently capping what was a phenomenal regular season stretch.

Across nine games, a span in which the Panthers went undefeated at 9-0, the five-star led the Duncanville offense to an average of 44.3 points per game, while also completing a combined 70.4% of his passes for 2,827 yards and a 40:0 TD:INT ratio. Russell also had a combined 148.8 QB rating during the regular season, while also rushing for 194 yards and a score on 22 attempts.

With the Panthers set to begin the playoffs Friday night, the Alabama commit will now look to lead the Panthers to their third consecutive state title in the coming weeks.

Alabama loses four-star linebacker commit, flips to Big Ten program

Alabama loses a 2025 commitment for the second consecutive day.

The Alabama Crimson Tide have now lost a commitment from their 2025 recruiting class for what is the second consecutive day, as Dawson Merritt officially flipped to the Nebraska Cornhuskers on Thursday night.

Merritt had previously been committed to Alabama since June of 2024, and now joins five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham in that conversation, who flipped from the Crimson Tide to the Ole Miss Rebels on Wednesday.

According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Merritt is considered as the No. 116 overall player in the 2025 class, as well as the No. 13 linebacker in the nation. Merritt is also ranked as the No. 4 player in the state of Kansas where he attends Blue Valley High School.

After the decommitment of Merritt, Alabama’s 2025 class still sits at No. 2 in the nation with 21 total commitments, sitting behind only the Ohio State Buckeyes. Merritt’s decommitment also leaves Alabama with three four-star’s committed in the cycle in Darrell Johnson, Luke Metz, and Abduall Sanders Jr..

Alabama loses five-star wide receiver commit to fellow SEC program

Alabama lost one of their top 2025 commitments Wednesday afternoon.

After taking a visit to Oxford on Saturday, five-star Alabama Crimson Tide wide receiver commit Caleb Cunningham officially flipped his commitment to the Ole Miss Rebels on Wednesday afternoon.

Cunningham, who was one of the highest-rated recruits in Alabama’s 2025 class, had previously been committed to the Crimson Tide since July of 2024.

As mentioned previously, Cunningham is a five-star prospect in the 2025 class, and is ranked as the nation’s No. 16 overall player in the cycle according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. Cunningham is also ranked as the nation’s No. 2 overall wide receiver, as well as the top player in the state of Mississippi where he attends Choctaw County High School.

With the decommitment of Cunningham, Alabama’s 2025 class now sits at No. 2 nationally with 22 total commitments, only one of which is a wide receiver. That is Lotzeir Brooks, a four-star prospect.

The decommitment of Cunningham also means that Alabama now has a total of four five-star prospects still committed this cycle.

Alabama loses commitment from 2026 four-star cornerback

The four-star had previously been committed to Alabama since May.

The Alabama Crimson Tide lost a member of their 2026 recruiting class on Sunday night, as Dorian Barney announced that he would be decommitting from the program to re-open his recruitment.

Barney had previously been a long-time member of Alabama’s 2026 class, as the talented prospect had been committed to the Crimson Tide since May of 2024.

According to the 247Sports Composite rankings, Barney ranks as the nation’s No. 84 overall player in the 2026 class, rated as a four-star cornerback out of Carrollton High School in Georgia. Barney also ranks as the nation’s No. 10 overall cornerback, as well as the No. 11 player in the state of Georgia for the 2026 cycle.

With the decommitment of Barney, Alabama’s 2026 class now has only one commitment currently in four-star defensive lineman Vodney Cleveland, an in-state prospect out of Parker High School in Alabama. The Crimson Tide’s 2026 recruiting class also ranks No. 37 nationally according to the 247Sports Team Rankings.

Alabama included in Top 11 for elite 2026 wide receiver

Alabama has made the Top 11 for one of the top receivers in the 2026 class.

The Alabama Crimson Tide have been included in the list of 11 finalists for one of the nation’s premier wide receivers in the 2026 class, Devin Carter.

Announced on Thursday afternoon, the Crimson Tide were also joined by the Auburn Tigers, Georgia Bulldogs, Louisville Cardinals, LSU Tigers, Miami Hurricanes, Ohio State Buckeyes, Ole Miss Rebels, Oregon Ducks, Texas Longhorns, and Texas A&M Aggies.

According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Carter ranks as the nation’s No. 21 overall player in the 2026 class, as well as No. 2 prospect in the state of Georgia where he attends Douglas County High School. Carter, a five-star prospect, is also considered as the No. 3 overall wide receiver in the class.

At the moment, Alabama’s 2026 class holds only two commitments total, and ranks No. 22 overall nationally. Those two commitments are a pair of four-star prospects in cornerback Dorian Barney and defensive lineman Vodney Cleveland, and if Carter were to commit to Alabama, then he would be the highest-ranked in the Crimson Tide’s class.

While the attention currently might be on the 2024 version of the Alabama Crimson Tide as they continue their chase for the College Football Playoff, let’s not forget about the future players for the program either.

Yes, the recruiting for the Crimson Tide has certainly been exciting under new Alabama head coach Kalen DeBoer, which has the program set to be one of the nation’s best on the looming Early Signing Day in December.

Quickly approaching on December 4 as well, just where does Alabama’s 2025 recruiting class sit nationally with now under a month to go?

According to the 247Sports Team Rankings, Alabama has the nation’s No. 1 ranked 2025 recruiting class as of Wednesday, November 6 with a total of 23 commitments. The Crimson Tide have a narrow lead over the Ohio State Buckeyes – who have 26 commitments – for the nation’s top spot, and also have one of the best average prospect ratings of any program nationally at 93.66, which ranks No. 2 behind only the Oregon Ducks who have 15 commits.

Of Alabama’s 23 total commitments, the Crimson Tide also have a total of five five-star prospects in Keelon Russell, Ty Haywood, Caleb Cunningham, Dijon Lee, and Michael Carroll. Included in the remaining commitments for Alabama is 14 four-star prospects, three three-star’s, and one two-star.

Looking ahead, it is entirely possible that Alabama enters Early Signing Day with the nation’s No. 1 overall recruiting class. Will the Crimson Tide add any other 2025 prospects to that group before then as well?

Alabama lands commitment from 2026 4-star in-state prospect

Alabama picked up their second commitment of the 2026 cycle Thursday night.

The Alabama Crimson Tide picked up a notable commitment to their 2026 recruiting class late Thursday night, as in-state prospect Vodney Cleveland announced the he was committing to the program.

Cleveland made the announcement via a post on social media, committing to the Crimson Tide over a list of 20+ other collegiate offers.

As mentioned previously, Cleveland is an in-state prospect for the Crimson Tide, rated as a four-star defensive lineman out of Parker High School in Alabama. According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Cleveland ranks as the nation’s No. 95 overall player, the No. 7 defensive lineman, and the No. 7 player in the state of Alabama.

Cleveland is also currently having a career-year with one of Alabama’s top high school teams, owning a stat line of 38 tackles, six TFL, and five sacks as a junior.

The commitment of Cleveland is now Alabama’s second in the 2026 cycle, as the defensive lineman joins fellow four-star Dorian Barney, a cornerback out of Carrollton High School in Georgia.

Alabama flips 4-star tight end from ACC program

Alabama’s 2025 recruiting class picked up another commitment Tuesday.

The Alabama Crimson Tide added yet another commitment to their 2025 recruiting class Tuesday morning, as Marshall Pritchett announced that he would be committing to the program.

Pritchett, a former North Carolina commit, announced that he would be flipping to the Crimson Tide from the Tar Heels, whom he had previously been committed to since March of 2024, and was one of the program’s top overall commitments of the cycle so far.

According to the 247Sports Composite Recruiting Rankings, Pritchett is a four-star tight end in the 2025 class, and ranks as the nation’s No. 404 overall player in the cycle. Pritchett is also the nation’s No. 22 tight end, as well as the No. 50 overall player in the state of Georgia where he attends Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School.

The four-star tight end is now commitment No. 23 for the Crimson Tide in the 2025 cycle, with Alabama’s class still ranking second-best nationally. Pritchett is also the second tight end in Alabama’s class, joining fellow four-star Kaleb Edwards.
