An early look at Alabama MBB’s nonconference opponents for the 2022-2023 season

Today, Roll Tide Wire takes a look at Alabama basketball’s nonconference opponents for the 2022-2023 season.

Last season, Alabama had one of the toughest nonconference schedules in the entire country. However, that didn’t stop the Crimson Tide from knocking off No. 3 Gonzaga, No. 4 Baylor, and No. 14 Houston.

Those were just some of the wins. On the other hand, the losses were not the prettiest by any means. Alabama fell to Memphis, Davidson, and Iona. Nate Oats’ squad showed a little too much inconsistency last season, and the coaching staff plans on fixing that for this season.

Alabama has another tough slate of non-conference opponents for the 2022-2023 season. Today, Roll Tide Wire takes an early look at their nonconference opponents and how the Crimson Tide stack up against each of them.

Alabama basketball releases 2022-2023 conference schedule

Alabama revealed their SEC schedule for the 2022-2023 season.

On Wednesday, Alabama basketball released their 2022-2023 conference schedule. They will have a tough slate of games prior to conference play, however. The Crimson Tide are set to face numerous elite, non-conference opponents in Houston, Gonzaga, South Alabama, Michigan State, Memphis and Oklahoma. Nonetheless, the team is expecting Jahvon Quinerly to return when conference play rolls around.

The expectations are high for Nate Oats as he enters his fourth season in Tuscaloosa. He has made two appearances in the NCAA Tournament thus far. With a lot of potential on this season’s roster, it will be interesting to see how the Crimson Tide performs.

The team has added two transfers in guards Mark Sears and Dominic Welch. Not to mention, Coach Oats and his staff also brought in a top-five recruiting class in this past year’s recruiting cycle. McDonald’s All-Americans Jaden Bradley and Brandon Miller are expected to have a large role in the Crimson Tide’s success this season. It will be interesting to see how the team gels with a tough conference schedule ahead of them.

Alabama basketball adds non-conference opponent from Big South to 2022-2023 schedule

Alabama added a ’22-’23 non-conference opponent in Big South’s Longwood Lancers.

The Alabama basketball team is working to finalize its non-conference schedule for the 2022-2023 season. On Wednesday, College Hoops Analyst Rocco Miller reported that the Crimson Tide had added the Longwood Lancers as a nonconference opponent for the upcoming season. The game will serve as each team’s season opener and will be played in Coleman Coliseum. Longwood competes in the Big South Conference and recently made its first NCAA Tournament appearance this past season.

Head coach [autotag]Nate Oats[/autotag] and his team will have their hands full to kick off the nonconference schedule. They are slated to play the back end of a home-and-home series with Gonzaga, Houston and Memphis. The Crimson Tide will also collide with Michigan State in the Phil Knight Invitational in November. They would also have the potential to face UConn or Oregon in the second game. Along with those games, they will also have to travel to Norman to face Oklahoma in late January.

It will certainly be interesting to see how a young Alabama team is able to gel with some top-tier opponents early on in the season. The expectations are high, but it will be far from easy this season. Coach Oats will count on players like Brandon Miller, Charles Bediako and Darius Miles to lead the team before conference play begins.

Roll Tide Wire will continue to track Alabama’s future opponents as well as other Alabama basketball news.
