Von Miller is a Texas A&M legend, who has followed his college career with an illustrious NFL career, including two super bowl rings, eight pro bowls and three first-team all pro selections.

This off-season, Miller reached free agency for the first time in his NFL career, and signed a massive, 6-year $120 million contract with the Buffalo Bills. The move signaled that the Bills, who have been on the verge of AFC supremacy the last two years, were “All-In”, doing everything possible to take the next step as a franchise to earn a trip to a Super Bowl within the next few seasons.

As NFL teams begin to close out training camps, with their final pre-season games this weekend, lets take a first look at Von in blue and red in his first camp as a member of Bills Mafia.

Several Aggies excel in NFL debuts during week 1 of the preseason

The Texas A&M football program is well represented across the NFL, with a number of high-profile alums already capturing multiple Pro Bowl and All-Pro selections, playoff appearances, and of course, Super Bowl titles. Just as a healthy reminder of the impact the maroon and white has had on the league in the last decade or so, the program has produced players such as Von Miller (linebacker), Myles Garrett (Defensive end), Ryan Tannehill (Quarterback), Christian Kirk (Wide receiver), etc., with over 33 active players in the league as of today.

The 2022 Texas A&M draft class featured offensive lineman Kenyon Green, Defensive lineman DeMarvin Leal, Running back Isaiah Spiller, and Defensive end Micheal Clemons all drafted in the first four rounds, each making their debut last weekend for their respective team. UDFA Defensive tackle Jayden Peevy also made his first game appearance with the Tennesee Titans on Friday night. Here is how each player fared in their first pre-season contest:

  • Kenyon Green (Houston Texans): Green, unfortunately, missed the matchup vs. the New Orleans Saints at NRG Stadium due to a lingering knee injury. The hope is that he can return this Friday as the Texans travel to Los Angeles to take on the Rams.
  • DeMarvin Leal (Pittsburgh Steelers): Leal made the most of his snaps on Saturday night against the Seattle Seahawks at Acrisure Stadium, recording 2 tackles, and was in on one of the game-saving fumble recoveries in a nailbiting 32-25 last-minute win.
  • Isaiah Spiller (Los Angeles Chargers): Spiller was the leading rusher for the Chargers during the late night Saturday matchup against the Los Angeles Rams, showing the patient and strong running style that got him drafted while tallying 34 yards on 10 attempts, adding 1 reception for 10 yards.
  • Micheal Clemons (New York Jets): The Jet’s next great pass rusher? Yes, I’m impartial, but Clemons absolutely wrecked the O-line of the Philadelphia Eagles on Friday night in Philly, recording 4 total tackles, 2 solo tackles, 1 sack, 1 tackle for loss, and 1 QB hit. The bull-rush extraordinaire is slated to make some noise as a rotational defensive end this season.
  • Jayden Peevy (Tennesee Titans): To start, Peevy going undrafted was a surprise to many, as the long-time disruptive defensive lineman became one of the more dependable players on defense in his last season with the Aggies. In his first appearance with the Titans, Peevy recorded 1 pass deflection against the Baltimore Ravens in M&T Bank Stadium, mainly due to his limited snaps.

Congrats to each of the five young men for taking their first step towards their NFL dream, and we’ll all be looking forward to their next matchups this coming weekend!
