Four-star defensive lineman shares social media post about Duke visit

Adam Shovlin, a top-50 defensive lineman in the Class of 2025, shared a social media post about his upcoming Duke visit on Thursday.

2025 defensive lineman Adam Shovlin seems excited to get to Durham.

Just one day after a 247Sports report that Shovlin would take an official visit with the Blue Devils in early June, the four-star prospect posted about the Duke program on X, the social media platform formerly known as Twitter.

“Duke Nation Wsp??” Shovlin wrote above a blue-and-white sketch of him in pads.

The Connecticut native plays for the St. Thomas More School, and according to 247Sports Composite Ranking, he’s the 46th-ranked defensive lineman in the class.

On3 is even more bullish on Shovlin, giving him a fourth star and ranking him as the 25th overall defensive lineman in the Class of 2025.

What On3 isn’t as bullish about, however, is Duke’s odds to land Shovlin. The site’s recruitment prediction machine gives the Blue Devils a 4.6% chance to win his commitment, behind Penn State and Stanford. The Cardinal, who also have the only Crystal Ball prediction in Shovlin’s commitment thus far, have a 75.6% chance to be his eventual home.

Three-star 2025 defensive lineman sets up official visit with Blue Devils

Adam Shovlin, a three-star defensive lineman from Connecticut, will take an official visit to Durham in June, according to a 247Sports report on Wednesday.

Three-star 2025 defensive lineman Adam Shovlin will take an official visit with the Blue Devils this summer.

According to a Wednesday report from 247Sports’ Brian Dohn, Shovlin will visit Durham on June 7.

Shovlin, who plays for the St. Thomas More School in Connecticut, is the 46th-ranked defensive lineman in 247Sports’ composite rankings for the Class of 2025.

Shovlin already took an unofficial visit with Duke back in November 2022.

The recruiting race for the lineman seems to be down to the Blue Devils, Stanford, and Penn State. Shovlin will visit all three programs over the next seven weeks. Dohn submitted a Crystal Ball prediction for the Cardinal to land Shovlin in early April, and Stanford is first on the Connecticut native’s list with a visit scheduled for the end of this month.

Three-star Adam Shovlin had a successful visit to Rutgers football this week

Adam Shovlin updates his visit to Rutgers football for spring practice.

A visit this week to Rutgers football was another important moment for Adam Shovlin in his recruitment. The standout defensive end from Connecticut took yet another visit to the Big Ten program.

A visit that the defensive end from St. Thomas More (Oakdale, CT) said was another successful trip to Rutgers that furthered his relationship with the program.

Shovlin is a 2025 recruit. According to Rivals, he is a three-star recruit and has offers from Boston College, Duke, Maryland, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin among others.

He took a visit this week to Rutgers that he says went along well.

“The visit up there was great overall. Always love going to Piscataway, the whole staff just makes it a special environment,” Shovlin told Rutgers Wire.

“Really just draws attention and it is hard to not be appealed.”

In late March, Shovlin told Rutgers Wire that his relationship with defensive line coach Marquise Watson has been a big part of his growing comfort with the program.

Big-time Connecticut defensive end Adam Shovlin set for another visit to Rutgers on Saturday

Rutgers football will host Adam Shovlin on Saturday.

Adam Shovlin will visit Rutgers football on Saturday, this as one of the top recruits in the Northeast will check out the Big Ten program’s spring practice.

A class of 2025 recruit, Shovlin is a defensive end from St. Thomas More (Oakdale, CT). He is ranked a three-star according to Rivals with offers from Boston College, Duke, Maryland, Virginia Tech and Wisconsin among others.

Listed at 6-foot-6 and 235 pounds, Shovlin is impressive for both his age and size. He has subtle nuances to his pass rush, showing not just strength but multiple moves to get by blockers.

Saturday’s spring football practice will be another chance to get on campus for Shovlin and to see first-hand the program’s rebuild under head coach Greg Schiano.

“Definitely looking forward to watching how they coach, the practice environment and overall what it would be like to play there,” Shovlin told Rutgers Wire on Friday.

Rutgers is trending well with Shovlin, a program that he recently called a second home.

This is a pretty quick return visit for Shovlin, who just visited the Scarlet Knights a few weeks ago. He said his relationship with the staff is “Great.”

“I went up there about a month ago,” Shovlin said. “I’m building a relationship for coach Watson (defensive line coach Marquise Watson) and the staff – I love it up there.”

Shovlin is obviously in no rush to make a decision at this point in his recruitment. He hopes to decide next summer heading into his senior year.
