Long before A.C. Green played in the NBA and won three championships with the Los Angeles Lakers, he cared about science, health and wellness. Green grew up in Portland, Ore., where the holistic lifestyle popularized in the Pacific Northwest influenced him from an early age. He carefully watched what he put into his body and learned about dietary nutrition, exercise, and the study of different medicines and how they affect the body. “I’m a holistic person,” Green said Friday in Indio. “I want to know: How can I stay around here and see kids in the generations behind me be around here for the longest way possible?”

Green is now helping in the fight against coronavirus. He sits on the advisory board of Brio Clinical Laboratory, an Ontario-based company that performs coronavirus testing throughout Southern California, and believes regular testing is the way “you treat your employees” and “care about your community.” Green, who has Native American heritage through the Choctaw tribe in Oklahoma, for years as served as a health advisor for tribes in Southern California.
