Report: There is a ‘strong possibility’ that Browns might win DeAndre Hopkins sweepstakes

According to one report, there is a “strong possibility” that the #Browns might be frontrunners to sign star wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins

After playing with Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson during his time with the Houston Texans, All-Pro wide receiver DeAndre Hopkins is reportedly interested in a reunion with the signal caller in the Sixth City.

News broke on Friday that there is a “strong possibility” that the Browns might sign Hopkins according to KPRC 2 Houston reporter Aaron Wilson.

Though fans may be quick to jump on the report as a good sign for Cleveland’s chances of signing the prolific receiver, no movement seems imminent at present, though smoke usually indicates the presence of some kind of fire in situations like this.

Hopkins would be an immediate upgrade to the top end of the Browns’ offensive roster, and his familiarity with Watson could prove to be a key selling point for Cleveland as they look to build their team into a playoff contender ahead of the 2023 season.

This report is by no means an indication that the team will sign the five-time Pro Bowler, but the prospect of adding such an elite talent should make the Browns’ faithful excited, even if only temporarily while Hopkins mulls his options.

Report: Bears to sign veteran LB Javin White

The Bears are reportedly signing veteran LB Javin White

The Chicago Bears have been busy bolstering their defense over the last couple of days and that trend appears to be continuing on Saturday. According to Pro Football Network’s Aaron Wilson, the team is signing veteran linebacker Javin White to a contract.

White began his career with the Las Vegas Raiders in 2020, signing as an undrafted free agent out of UNLV. He appeared in four games his rookie season, notching four total tackles, including one for a loss. White was injured for much of the 2021 season, spending the year with the Raiders and the New York Jets. He played in one game for each team, primarily contributing on special teams. He was released by the Jets in late July.

Prior to joining the Bears, White had plenty of interest from other NFL teams, including the Arizona Cardinals and Seattle Seahawks, according to Wilson. The 25-year old wasn’t able to fully show what he could do last season as he dealt with injuries, but perhaps could take advantage of an opportunity with the Bears. With star linebacker Roquan Smith still on the physically unable to perform list, they are counting on players like veteran Matthew Adams, undrafted free agent Jack Sanborn, and USFL standout DeMarquis Gartes to help fill the void at the position opposite Nicholas Morrow, who now reunites with his former teammate.

Seahawks expected to consider Nick Sorensen for defensive backs coach

Seahawks expected to consider Nick Sorensen for defensive backs coach

Now that the Seattle Seahawks have fired both defensive coordinator Ken Norton Jr. and defensive backs coach Andre Curtis, they must find suitable candidates to replace them.

While the defensive coordinator job will receive more attention, Pro Football Network reporter Aaron Wilson stated that Seattle may consider a former Seahawks secondary coach for the position.

Nick Sorensen is currently the special teams coordinator for the Jacksonville Jaguars, but worked for the Seahawks from 2013 to 2020. He served as assistant special teams coach during his first three years, assistant defensive backs coach in 2016, and secondary coach from 2017 to 2020.

Sorensen’s future with Jacksonville is up in the air, as they had the worst record in the NFL this season and the entire coaching staff may be in for an overhaul. However, the organization will likely evaluate and reach out to multiple candidates as is standard with every coaching job in this league an sports in general. We will all see what happens soon enough.
