Former Oregon strength coach Aaron Feld releases heartfelt letter to Duck fans

From the handlebar mustache to his “Fill the Sleeve” challenges, Coach Feld’s time at Oregon was truly something to behold.

It’s rare in college football that a fanbase falls in love with a strength and conditioning coach, but that’s absolutely what happened with the Oregon Ducks and Aaron Feld.

Maybe it was his grandiose handlebar mustache that opened the door to a fun relationship being possible, but it was his outsized personality that really fueled the fire in Eugene. That’s saying something, too, because you take one look at Feld and realize what a large man he is, and anyone who participated in his “Fill the Sleeve” challenges over the years can tell you that he wasn’t shy about letting you know.

“I wish you nothing but success and tight sleeves in all of your futures,” Feld wrote on social media.

A perfect way to end his time at Oregon.

Report: Oregon Ducks targeting Ole Miss strength and conditioning coach Wilson Love

It’s going to be hard to replace Aaron Feld, but a new report shows that the Ducks might be targeting Wilson Love from Ole Miss to do so.

According to a new report, it looks like Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks are zeroing in on their targets for a new strength and conditioning coach, with sites reportedly set on Ole Miss’s Wilson Love to be the next guy.

Love once played at Alabama and was the Crimson Tide’s No. 2 strength coach before leaving to join Florida Atlantic. He has been Lane Kiffin’s head strength and conditioning coach at both FAU and Ole Miss.

If the Ducks were to hire Love, he would be replacing Aaron Feld as the head strength coach in Eugene, and have big shoes to fill at that. Feld grew into internet fame several years ago when his obscure handlebar mustache caused him to stand out on the sidelines during an Alabama championship game. His hiring at Oregon was well-received by the fanbase, to say the least.

What’s next for Oregon football as we head into the offseason?

With the Spring Game behind us, the Ducks are getting set to begin their last stretch of strength and conditioning before school gets out in June.

The buzz and excitement that come from spring practice and ultimately the Spring Game for the Oregon Ducks football team is now behind us. The early installations of the offense and defense have been put into place, a first look at the depth chart has been accomplished, and Mario Cristobal has his team feeling confident about where they stand going into the fall.

So now what?

Well, according to Cristobal, there is some time for a quick break to get everyone back to full health, and then it’s time for the fourth quarter program to get players through the summer.

“There is not much rest, these guys have a couple of days to get their bodies back,” said Cristobal, via 247 Sports. “It’s lifting, its walk-through, it’s meeting time. It’s really high progression, development, learning cycle.”

Though the weeks of diving into game plans are gone for now, the Ducks will use the ensuing weeks to focus primarily on strength and conditioning, being led by coach Aaron Feld, the program’s lead Strength and Conditioning Coordinator.

“After a couple of days next week, they’ll come in. We’ll screen them from a functional standpoint. We will put them through a series of movements that we will put them through strength standpoint, mobility standpoint,” said Cristobal. “We’ll put them through a series of movements.”

As we get closer to June, players will be given a week to go home and visit family if they’d like after school gets out, but then they are to come back to Eugene and enroll in summer school, jumping into the full summer program and getting ready for the season to kick off.

We have seen this four-quarter program work well over the past few years under Cristobal, and there is no reason to believe that’s going to change any time soon.

Alabama targeting former Georgia strength coach Aaron Feld

The Alabama Crimson Tide are considering hiring Oregon Ducks strength and conditioning coach Aaron Feld, who previously coached at Georgia.

The Alabama Crimson Tide lost an excellent strength and conditioning coach in Scott Cochran, who joined the staff at Georgia this past week. Now, the Crimson Tide are considering hiring Oregon Ducks strength and conditioning coach Aaron Feld. Before Feld coached at Oregon, he was under Kirby Smart in Athens.

Feld coached at UGA from 2015 to 2017 as the assistant strength and conditioning coach. Feld helped Kirby Smart develop players like Roquan Smith, Nick Chubb, and Sony Michel during his time in Athens.

He left Georgia following the National Championship defeat to become the strength and conditioning coach at Oregon under Mario Christobal. The Ducks have had success with Feld as well. Oregon defeated Wisconsin in the Rose Bowl this season and is returning a good bit of talent in 2020.

Feld would be a logical choice at Alabama based on his previous success. The Crimson Tide will miss Scott Cochran, who is now joining Kirby Smart once again at Georgia, but Strength and Conditioning coaches can only do so much for the team.

Feld reportedly met with Nick Saban at Alabama this week and has removed Oregon from his Twitter bio. That being said, nothing is set in stone. Fans should bet on either Feld heading to Alabama or staying at Oregon after getting a raise.
