Spartan LB transfer commits to Arkansas State

An MSU LB transfer has committed to Arkansas State

Michigan State football took in Aaron Alexander as a UMass transfer, originally bringing him in as a walk-on. Despite his walk-on status, Alexander found a way to be a productive player on the field for MSU in select defensive packages and on special teams.

Now, in an effort to get more playing time, the Belleville (MI) native will be transferring out of the MSU program. Alexander has found his new home.

Alexander has committed to Arkansas State

This is the second linebacker transfer that has committed to Arkansas State from MSU, as Charles Willekes had a very successful career with the Red Wolves.

Michigan State football linebacker enters NCAA transfer portal

A linebacker who transferred to MSU from UMass has re-entered the transfer portal

This has been the most active day we’ve seen this offseason in terms of outgoing transfer portal activity. Monday afternoon, a former transfer from UMass, linebacker Aaron Alexander, announced he would join the other Spartans heading onto new ventures, entering his name into the portal.

Alexander, who is from Belleville, had joined the Spartans back in December of 2022. He had 12 total tackles in his time in East Lansing.

You can track all the movement in the transfer portal here.

Michigan State football gets commitment from former Michigan commit, UMass transfer

Michigan State has picked up a linebacker from the portal, who was formerly committed to the University of Michigan

Michigan State has just gained a commitment from the transfer portal at the linebacker position. Belleville native Aaron Alexander has announced his commitment to MSU.

Alexander, a member of the 2022 recruiting class, was at one point committed to the University of Michigan, but flipped late in the cycle to the University of Massachusetts to reunite with former Michigan defensive coordinator Don Brown.

Alexander played in 3 games on special teams for UMass in his one season with the school.

It is unclear if he will be on scholarship or will be added as a preferred walk on.

Michigan football signed 23 prospects on Wednesday, but there were questions as to why it wasn’t 24.

The Wolverines long held a commitment from Belleville (Mich.) three-star linebacker Aaron Alexander, but when early signing day came around, his national letter of intent never came in. In the aftermath, there have been mixed messages about who moved on from whom, but clearly both sides are now moving on, officially.

On Thursday, Alexander tweeted that he is reopening his recruitment while thanking the Michigan coaching staff for giving him an opportunity to begin with. With national signing day still approaching in February, we’ll see where the former Wolverines pledge ends up.

Assuredly, we’ll get more clarity as to what happened in relative short order as it pertains to this parting of ways.

Without Alexander in the fold, Michigan football is still ranked eighth in the 247Sports team rankings.

It didn’t take long from a local product to go from offer for commitment.

2022 Belleville (MI) three-star linebacker Aaron Alexander received his coveted Michigan offer just this week at a camp, and the 6-foot-1, 205-pounder wasn’t intent to sit on it for very long.

Rated the No. 78 linebacker in the 2022 class, and the 23rd-best player in the state of Michigan, according to 247Sports’ Allen Trieu, Alexander doesn’t plan to wait around to see other options as he committed to the maize and blue on Saturday.

He’s the second to pledge on Saturday, as Columbia (SC) Hammond School three-star running back CJ Stokes pulled the trigger earlier in the day.

Alexander is the ninth pledge for the Wolverines in 2022.
