The NFLPA splits up the list into two sections: rookies and veterans. Dillon, a second-round pick entering Year 3 in 2022, came in at No. 8 on the veterans list.

Dillon rushed for a team-high 803 yards and scored seven total touchdowns during a breakout second season in 2021. He’ll likely get even more touches as a sidekick to Aaron Jones in the Packers offense in 2022.

How does a player make the list? The NFLPA thinks Dillon is “poised to have an instant impact on consumer sales and ultimately rank on the NFLPA Top 50 Players Sales lists in the new season,” per a press release.

“The magic of this list is that it pulls from a variety of data including player sales, fan bases, social media engagement and even fantasy football popularity,” said Steve Scebelo, President of NFL Players Inc. “Combined with their diverse personalities and exciting on-field performances, we forecast players best positioned to move the needle for products and marketing in the upcoming season.”

Dillon, a bruising runner with legendary-sized legs, has become a fan favorite in Green Bay. He now has over 100,000 followers on Twitter and over 300,000 on Instagram.

Dillon is a rising star on the field. He finished first among running backs in “Success Rate” at Football Outsiders and ranked second in rushing grade (behind only Jonathan Taylor) at Pro Football Focus.

Matt LaFleur says Packers RB A.J. Dillon is ‘just scratching the surface of what he can become’

Matt LaFleur called Packers RB A.J. Dillon a “premier back” and said he’s only starting to realize his immense potential as a player.

Matt LaFleur chuckled before answering a question about A.J. Dillon’s usage on Wednesday at the NFL Scouting Combine, but the question did provide an opportunity for the Green Bay Packers to praise his bulldozing running back.

LaFleur called Dillon a “premier back” and said he’s only just starting to realize his immense potential.

“I think A.J. is just scratching the surface of what he can become,” LaFleur said.

Dillon already made a huge jump from Year 1 to 2.

Thrust into a bigger role as a replacement for Jamaal Williams in 2021, Dillon enjoyed a breakout season while leading the Packers in rushing and gaining over 1,000 total yards. He averaged 4.3 per carry, caught 34 of 37 targets in the passing game and scored seven total touchdowns.

At Pro Football Focus, Dillon finished second among running backs in overall grade, trailing only Jonathan Taylor.

LaFleur said the Packers are fortunate to have two No. 1 running backs in Dillon and Aaron Jones, who both provide value on offense as runners and receivers.

Dillon handled 221 total touches in 2021, or around 13 per game over a full 17-game schedule. It’s certainly possible the Packers could get him closer to 250 touches, or 15 a game, but his ceiling might be limited as long as Jones – a dynamic player – is still in Green Bay as a complementary option.

Better run-blocking in 2022 could help Dillon create more big runs. He had just nine runs of 10 or more yards in 2021, and the majority of his rushing production came after first contact. More explosive plays might be a logical next step for Dillon as a runner in Year 3.

And don’t be surprised if LaFleur finds more and more ways of getting Dillon involved as a pass-catcher.

Dillon was often at his best late in games, using his tackle-breaking power to stack first downs and kill the clock.

LaFleur said Dillon’s rib injury during the Packers’ divisional round playoff loss to the 49ers played a factor in the final outcome.

“We felt the effects of when we lost A.J. in that playoff game, we were missing a little something there,” LaFleur said.

Packers RB A.J. Dillon fractured rib in loss vs. 49ers

Packers RB A.J. Dillon exited Saturday night’s loss to the 49ers because of a fractured rib.

The one-two punch of Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon was reduced to a one-man show when Dillon exited the Green Bay Packers’ 13-10 loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the second half on Saturday night.

And now we know why.

According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, Dillon suffered a fractured rib while playing on the kickoff return team in the third quarter. He left the game and didn’t return.

Per Rapoport, the injury was serious enough that Dillon probably wouldn’t have played in the NFC title game had the Packers advanced.

Dillon rushed seven times for 25 yards. His touchdown run in the first quarter gave the Packers a 7-0 lead, but Green Bay didn’t score another touchdown in the contest.

The loss of Dillon stung late in the game as the Packers were attempting to kill clock and protect a lead. A pair of three-and-outs late in the fourth quarter allowed the 49ers to get back into the game and eventually win the game on a walk-off field goal.

Dillon led the Packers in rushing during the 2021 season with 803 yards. He finished with 1,116 total yards and seven touchdowns while splitting snaps and touches with Jones in the Packers backfield.

In the lead role, Jones produced 170 total yards, including 129 receiving yards on nine catches. Jones also rushed 12 times for 41 yards.

Prince’s Props: Cam Akers, A.J. Dillon and more NFL Divisional Playoffs player prop bets

Cam Akers is back and still has plenty of burst left after the Achilles injury.

OK, so it’s fair to say things got real last week. Without a full slate of games to choose the best prop bets of the best from, my picks fell flat. The reasons: teams were either too futile to allow my props to thrive (Arizona Cardinals, New England Patriots) or too dominant (Kansas City Chiefs, Tampa Bay Buccaneers).

So it’s back to the drawing board for the divisional round, but there’s reason to be optimistic for this go around. The matchups are more even, which should make for better games and for game scripts to play out closer to projected. Let’s jump into the props.

Wild Card round: 2-4

Regular season: 18-12

Packers RB Aaron Jones, A.J. Dillon both go over 1,000 yards from scrimmage in 2021

The Packers running back duo has produced 2,239 total yards and 17 touchdowns through 16 games in 2021.

The Green Bay Packers have the NFL’s MVP favorite at quarterback and an otherworldly talent at wide receiver, but the running back duo in Matt LaFleur’s offense is pretty good too.

After Sunday night’s win over the Minnesota Vikings, both Aaron Jones and A.J. Dillon now have over 1,000 total yards from scrimmage through 16 games.

The two became just the fourth pair of running backs in Packers history to both create 1,000 or more yards in a single season. And it’s the first time since 1980 when Eddie Lee Ivery and Gerry Ellis accomplished the feat.

Jones is no surprise. He’s produced at least 1,000 total yards and 10 touchdowns in three consecutive seasons. Even after missing a game, he’s created 1,190 yards from scrimmage and 10 touchdowns.

Dillon’s emergence has been the big story. The second-year back rushed for 63 yards and added 20 more as a receiver on Sunday, pushing his season total to 1,049 yards. He also added two more touchdowns, giving him seven total.

Overall, Jones and Dillon have combined for 2,239 yards and 17 touchdowns.

How does that compare to last season? In 2020, Jones and Jamaal Williams combined for 2,200 total yards and 14 total touchdowns.

Bruising but versatile RB AJ Dillon is exactly what the Packers wanted

Packers RB A.J. Dillon is running through tackles and creating value in the passing game in his second NFL season.

The Green Bay Packers already had a star in Aaron Jones when they drafted A.J. Dillon. This is why many questioned the team’s decision to select a running back in the second round of the 2020 NFL draft. Turns out, the Packers had a plan, and that plan is now coming to fruition.

Every team needs a second running back. Before Dillon arrived, Green Bay had Jamaal Williams to compliment Jones in a versatile backfield. However, the Packers knew they would eventually have to let Jones or Williams, or perhaps both, walk in free agency.

This past offseason, they brought back Jones on a lucrative four-year deal worth up to $48 million. However, the contract also gives them an easy out after the 2022 season. Meanwhile, Williams signed a two-year with the Detroit Lions, ending his time as Jones’ sidekick and a locker room favorite.

Limited cap space means tough decisions. Luckily, Dillon was ready to step into the role left behind by Williams.

When Green Bay drafted Dillon with the 62nd overall pick in 2020, it was a move no one saw coming. Dillon wasn’t even on the Pro Football Focus draft board when the pick was announced.

Dillon didn’t have a bad college career. In fact, his 4,382 rushing yards ranks first all-time in Boston College history. However, Dillon was a 250-pound back with 845 rushing attempts in college and only 21 career receptions. The NFL has moved away from power running backs, who often carry a short shelf life and possess a limited skill set that is no longer sought after in a pass-happy league. However, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst did not see Dillon as a prehistoric running back but as a vital piece to their future success.

“I think Matt (LaFleur) certainly wants to run the ball,” Gutekunst said via The Athletic. “I think he’s talked to you guys repeatedly about how much he’d like to run the ball and have the pass work off of that. I think as we went through, we wanted to have some versatile pieces. Obviously, AJ’s a big, bruising back with very, very good speed.”

[lawrence-related id=42794]

Dillon ran a 4.53 in the 40-yard dash and also logged an astonishing 41-inch vertical leap at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Anyone with doubts about Dillon’s selection had them quickly dispersed after his performance against the Tennessee Titans in 2020. In the first real look at the second-round rookie, Dillon carried the ball 21 times for 124 yards and two touchdowns on a snow-covered Lambeau Field.

It was everything the Packers could have hoped for.

A year later, Dillon continues to lean into his role as a cold-weather back with the goal of punishing relenting tacklers. In three consecutive games, as temperatures continue to drop, Dillon has thrived. According to PFF, he has forced eight missed tackles and tallied 147 yards after contact. As a bonus, his ability as a receiver has also been on full display. Over the last four games, Dillon has totaled 17 receptions for 171 receiving yards with no drops. Now he is a bruising running back who can also catch passes and be an efficient and productive contributor in the passing game.

We are now nearing December, and the vision for Dillon will soon reach its final form. Bone-crushing hits in freezing temperatures await any defender in that steps in Dillon’s way.

A.J. Dillon’s truck stick on Taylor Rapp wins top ‘Angry Run’ of the Week

Packers RB A.J. Dillon steamrolled Rams S Taylor Rapp during Sunday’s win at Lambeau Field.

A.J. Dillon’s trucking of Los Angeles Rams safety Taylor Rapp in the fourth quarter on Sunday didn’t go unnoticed.

Dillon has earned the “scepter” award for the top “Angry Run” of the week from NFL Network’s “Good Morning Football.”

Dillon, the Packers’ 247-pound running back, made a jump cut to find a hole and then ran over Rapp at the second level to finish off a run nearing the end of the Packers’ 36-28 win over the Rams.

Dillon produced 90 total yards in the game. He also forced six missed tackles, according to Pro Football Focus, including one very loud miss by Rapp, the 208-pound safety who was no match for Dillon one-on-one.

Dillon lowered his pads and forcefully deposited Rapp on the ground, providing one of the best truck sticks of the entire 2021 season.

These are some of the players Jason will be locking in his lineups on DraftKings and FanDuel for this weekend’s slate.

Quarterbacks

Jalen Hurts, Philadelphia Eagles

$7,300 DRAFTKINGS
$8,400 FANDUEL

After three clunkers, Hurts came back with a vengeance in Week 11. The zero passing touchdowns mean nothing at the end of the day when you can score three on the ground. The rushing upside he provides secures a safe floor for cash games and the tournament upside to climb the leaderboards. The New York Giants defense is beatable across the board, and with the Eagles walking into New York as favorites with a projected point total of 24, things are again looking up for Hurts. The analysis is simple on this one: Take the quarterback with the highest rushing upside on a smaller-than-usual slate with guys like Patrick Mahomes, Lamar Jackson, Dak Prescott and Kyler Murray not playing.

[lawrence-related id=462377]

Cam Newton, Carolina Panthers

$5,600 DRAFTKINGS
$8,000 FANDUEL

… Similar story here with Newton. Since he returned to Carolina he has scored rushing touchdowns in both games capping off a 26-point performance in Week 11. Newton has fallen into a great situation to revamp his career with weapons like Christian McCaffrey, D.J. Moore, and a solid defense around him. The price is right on Cam and the matchup is elite. The Dolphins rank 27th against opposing quarterbacks and give up the 29th-most passing yards per game. Newton checks all the boxes in Week 12: A cheap price, rushing upside, plus an ideal matchup. Feel free to play Cam in both cash games and tournaments this Sunday.

Running Backs

Christian McCaffrey, Carolina Panthers

$9,000 DRAFTKINGS
$9,700 FANDUEL

I haven’t rostered McCaffrey all season due to injuries and an inflated price tag, but this is the week I’m buying in. Coming off 24-plus-point games in back-to-back weeks has me looking for ways to pay up for him in Week 12. Like I stated above, the Dolphins’ secondary is near league worst, and this is where McCaffrey is doing most of his damage these days. It’s an interesting stack to play Cam (for his rushing upside) and take CMC (for his receiving upside) as quarterbacks and running backs typically don’t correlate so well. With the Panthers projected to score 22 points, currently playing Cam with McCaffrey together secures the touchdown equity through both the air and ground in what could be a very solid floor for cash games if the Panthers show up in Week 12.

AJ Dillon, Green Bay Packers

$5,900 DRAFTKINGS
$6,900 FANDUEL

Dillon is in the exact same spot as last week and we get a $300 discount on DraftKings. Dillon was able to lock in 15.7 DraftKings points last week without scoring a touchdown, which is a solid floor to lock into at this price. Dillon still is the goal-line back and touchdown equity should be strong this week against the Los Angeles Rams. With a 47-point total in what Vegas is predicting to be a very close game through all four quarters, I expect a heavy workload from Dillon this week to secure him as the best value running back on the slate. Lock him into both cash games and tournaments in Week 12.

Wide receivers

Deebo Samuel, San Francisco 49ers

$7,900 DRAFTKINGS
$8,000 FANDUEL

As long as Deebo stays on the field and stays healthy against the Minnesota Vikings, he has the most upside at the position by my standards. Cementing his role as one of the most talented offensive players in the game, Samuel continues to terrorize defenses each week. Deebo has averaged 22 fantasy points per game and truly possesses upside not many other receivers can reach. I have this game rated as his easiest matchup of the season so far, which puts Deebo at the top of my rankings at Win Daily Sports. The Vikings rank 30th against wide receivers, and it seems like to me that every time they face off against a solid offense the total of the game shoots over 60 points. I love this game from a stack perspective, and I will be buying a lot of shares from this game in Week 12.

Laviska Shenault, Jacksonville Jaguars

$4,400 DRAFTKINGS
$5,600 FANDUEL

One of these weeks Shenault’s talent will show up on Sunday, and I hope I am still rostering him at that point. With Jamal Agnew now out and a soft matchup versus the Atlanta Falcons, Week 12 is lining up for a big week for Shenault. The targets have been there for him the past five weeks, averaging around six per game, and he may see a slight uptick this week. The price is right on Shenault, and the Falcons are allowing 27 points per game, so we are expecting some scoring from the Jaguars. I will roll the dice here and say Week 12 is the first time this season Shenault finds the end zone, and I will be taking shots on what should be low ownership on him.

Tight ends

Kyle Pitts, Atlanta Falcons

$6,100 DRAFTKINGS
$6,600 FANDUEL

Pitts has been quiet ever since Calvin Ridley went down and has had mediocre performances the past four weeks. This is a get-right spot for Pitts. The Jaguars rank 23rd against opposing tight ends, and the defense is giving up 25 total points per game on the season. The targets and talent is still there, and it simply comes down to finding ways to get him open and into the end zone. With some nice value on the slate and the top tier tight ends off, I am going back to the well with Pitts in Week 12.

Rob Gronkowski, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

$4,400 DRAFTKINGS
$6,500 FANDUEL

Tom Brady came right back to Gronkowski with eight targets in his first week back from injury, which is a great sign for fantasy owners. If the game stayed close with the New York Giants, we could have seen a 10-catch, 100-yard performance out of him last week. Now, Gronk is in a nice spot against the Indianapolis Colts, which should be a high-scoring affair with the game total set at 53. On top of that, the Colts currently rank 29th against opposing tight ends, which we know Brady will look to expose early and often. Take the discount on Gronk in Week 12 and let’s find some pay dirt on the field and in our lineups.

Good luck in Week 12, and if you ever have any questions, please hit me up on Twitter!

DFS Fantasy Football: Favorite Pro Plays – Week 11

WinDailySports’ CEO Jason Mezrahi checks in with his top Week 11 DFS fantasy football for FanDuel and DraftKings

[lawrence-newsletter][lawrence-newsletter]Top-ranked daily fantasy sports pro Jason Mezrahi, founder and CEO of WinDailySports.com, breaks down his favorite DFS plays at various salary ranges for Week 11 of the NFL season. Quarterbacks

Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

$7,600 DRAFTKINGS
$8,300 FANDUEL

It looks like Mahomes is still good and knows how to throw a football. Mahomes threw for 405 yards, five touchdowns, and zero interceptions in an impressive Week 10 win, which should quiet all the haters. Now, he draws another home matchup against a team that has an offense that can go blow for blow with them. We have an over of 55.5, which is the best on the board, and one I want to buy shares of. This is a game to load up on from all angles as most of the skilled players are in play. I will have equal shares of both Mahomes and Prescott in Week 11.

Dak Prescott, Dallas Cowboys

$7,200 DRAFTKINGS
$8,400 FANDUEL

Similar to Mahomes, Prescott is in a smash spot against the Chiefs in Week 11. Prescott has been super consistent this season averaging 24 points per game and now draws a matchup against the 31st ranked defense at defending the quarterback position. The Chiefs give up the 23rd-most passing yards and 26th-most total yards per game. Two elite offenses are squaring off in a game that has 55.5 points set and this game should ring off points for four quarters. Get shares of both Prescott and Mahomes and get different in other spots. If you want a pivot off the possible chalk, look to Josh Allen, Joe Burrow, Derek Carr, and Cam Newton in tournaments only.

Running Backs

AJ Dillon, Green Bay Packers

$6,200 DRAFTKINGS
$7,000 FANDUEL

With Aaron Jones on the shelf with an injury, Dillon steps into a prime spot in Week 11. Dillon has been an impressive backup all season and now has the opportunity to shine. He stepped up big time with a 26.8-point performance after Jones went down with an injury versus the Seattle Seahawks. Now Dillon gets a matchup versus the Vikings, who rank 17th against opposing running backs and allow the 28th-most rushing yards per game. Green Bay is projected to put up 26 points and carry a lead in this one, so the game script should be in Dillon’s favor. Dillon will be a three-down back in a positive matchup and should be one of the best values on the board at the running back position in Week 11.

James Conner, Pittsburgh Steelers

$6,100 DRAFTKINGS
$7,200 FANDUEL

People have doubted Conner and most avoided him in season long drafts. Coming off four double-digit fantasy performances and 12 touchdowns on the year has fantasy owners kicking themselves. With Chase Edmonds on IR, Conner has the opportunity to take on a full workload and showcase his talent. I do like Conner with Kyler Murray by his side, but in a matchup versus the Seahawks, it might not matter. Seattle ranks 31st against opposing running backs, 26th in rush yards allowed, and 31st in total yards allowed. This Seahawks defense is bad and standing on their last legs. Load up on Conner if Kyler is back, and even if he’s not, make sure to get some shares in Week 11.

Wide receivers

Stefon Diggs, Green Bay Packers

$7,900 DRAFTKINGS
$8,100 FANDUEL

Stefon Diggs, Davante Adams, Tyreek Hill, CeeDee Lamb and Deebo Samuel are all in great spots this weekend. They are all playable, but due to ownership, I wanted to write up Diggs. He is coming off his biggest game of the season, and after the embarrassing loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, the connection from Allen to Diggs seems to be back to normal. This game has sneaky potential with an Over/Under of 50 and everyone gravitating towards the Cowboys-Chiefs game. The Colts are a middle-of-the-pack defense that has more trouble defending the pass than the run. They rank 25th against opposing wide receivers and have been giving up points in bunches the past couple of weeks. They allowed 17 against the Jaguars, 30 vs. the New York Jets, and 34 against the Titans. Those numbers have me believing that the Bills should have no problem scoring, which should pay dividends to Diggs in Week 11.

Brandin Cooks, Houston Texans

$6,000 DRAFTKINGS
$6,600 FANDUEL

Cooks has quietly had a good to great season, depending on how you want to look at it. To put up the numbers he has with the lack of talent around him is impressive. Cooks is receiving the boatload of targets and has exceeded double-digit looks in four games this season, a trend that should continue in Week 11. Combine that with the fact that the Tennessee Titans rank 32nd against opposing wide receivers and 27th in total passing yards, and we should have a pretty safe floor in Week 11. Cooks is both cash and tournament viable this Sunday, so lock him up.

Tight ends

Travis Kelce, Kansas City Chiefs

$7,100 DRAFTKINGS
$6,900 FANDUEL

After last week’s performance we now know that Kelce and Mahomes are not washed up. Kelce hauled in eight of his 10 targets for 119 yards receiving in a blowout. It’s the first time he exceeded 20 points since Week 3. He may be popular this week due to the matchup against the Cowboys who rank 23rd against defending the tight end position, but it’s for good reason. This game has the highest total on the board sitting at 56.5, so I will be loading up on Kelce and the Chiefs. The Chiefs are favored at home by 2.5 and are projected to score 29.5 points. Kelce will be my cash game play at the tight end position, and I will be overweight on him for tournaments.

Gerald Everett, Seattle Seahawks

$3,100 DRAFTKINGS
$5,000 FANDUEL

If you fade Kelce, Darren Waller, and George Kittle in Week 11, Everett is sitting at a nice value. With Russell Wilson back at quarterback last week, Everett caught all eight of his targets for 63 yards. The matchup versus Arizona is not ideal as this defense is stout. If Seattle can move the ball as well as the Carolina Panthers did last week, we can see a nice game out of Everett again. Everett is the safety valve for Wilson. So when Arizona brings the pressure, Everett should be targeted a ton as DK Metcalf and Tyler Lockett look to push the ball down field. Everett’s upside will be higher if Murray comes back to quarterback Arizona, so let’s hope he plays. If Murray plays, I have Everett as my top value play at the position. If he doesn’t, Cole Kmet might be the better option for tournaments in Week 11.

Good luck in Week 11, and if you ever have any questions, please hit me up on Twitter!

Congrats to AJ Dillon, who went from Green Bay RB to Packers part-owner

He’s a stockholder now!

A.J. Dillon and his enormous legs are about to take over the backfield for the Green Bay Packers while Aaron Jones is on the mend.

But he’s also using his wallet to help pay for some stadium upgrades at Lambeau Field.

On Tuesday, the Packers held the sixth stock sale in the storied franchise’s history, with the team selling 300,000 shares at $300 a pop to raise money for Lambeau.

Among them? A.J. Dillon! He tweeted an image indicating he was one of the many who had bought in. Jones replied that he was still queued up. This is just a delight:

Congrats!
