49ers inactives: LB Azeez Al-Shaair returns vs. Titans

LB Azeez Al-Shaair is back for the #49ers. Here’s who won’t suit up Thursday:

The 49ers’ linebacking corps will get some assistance Thursday night with Azeez Al-Shaair’s return to the lineup. He was listed as ‘questionable’ with an elbow injury that limited him all week in practice. He was not listed among the team’s inactives for Thursday Night Football

Here’s who won’t be active for San Francisco in Tennessee:

LB Dre Greenlaw

RB Elijah Mitchell

S Talanoa Hufanga

OL Colton McKivitz

DL Maurice Hurst

Al-Shaair has developed into a budding star for the 49ers in the second level, but an elbow sprain he suffered against the Bengals forced him to miss the 49ers’ game vs. the Falcons last week. Having him next to Fred Warner against a Titans team that will turn the ball over could be a significant difference-maker for the 49ers’ defense.

Of the rest of the group, there aren’t any surprises since  all but McKivitz were ruled out in Friday’s status report.

Behind Enemy Lines: Get to know, and then remember, the Titans

Get to know the #49ers’ Week 16 opponent with @TheTitansWire managing editor Mike Moraitis. Plus a prediction!

The last time the 49ers faced the Titans was Jimmy Garoppolo’s first year with the team and San Francisco was playing out the string of a lost season while Tennessee was searching for a playoff spot.

Now with San Francisco heading into Tennessee on Thursday night, both clubs are in the playoff hunt and in need of a victory. Both teams are dramatically different than they were four years ago, so we got in touch with Titans Wire managing editor Mike Moraitis to get the lowdown on the 49ers’ Week 16 opponent:

49ers projected practice report: Elijah Mitchell remains out to begin short week

The #49ers didn’t practice Monday but they did put out a projected participation report.

The 49ers didn’t have a practice Monday as they begin their quick turnaround to Thursday Night Football. While they didn’t take the field for Week 16 preparations, they still put out a projected participation report for what their practice might’ve looked like.

That projection came with some good news and bad news. Elijah Mitchell was still a non-participant because of a knee injury, but linebacker Azeez Al-Shaair would’ve been listed as a limited participant as he recovers from an elbow injury that kept him out of last week’s game against the Falcons.

Head coach Kyle Shanahan didn’t rule out either player returning on the short week.

Here’s the projected practice report:
