WATCH: Nick Bosa drops Geno Smith for drive-ending sack

WATCH: Nick Bosa runs through Seahawks LT for sack.

The 49ers defense let Seattle cruise to San Francisco’s 35 to start the second half, but on a third-and-medium Nick Bosa put an end to the Seahawks hopes of scoring. He blew past Seattle’s left tackle Stone Forsythe and dragged down Geno Smith for a sack. That not only ended the drive, but pushed the Seahawks out of field goal range and forced a punt.

Christian McCaffrey is good at football

Christian McCaffrey, man.

Christian McCaffrey is ridiculous. His eight-yard TD run that put the 49ers ahead 21-3 had no business being a touchdown. He started left and ran into a wall before slipping through a small crease on a cutback and then plowing through a pair of defenders to find the end zone. McCaffrey has a lot of great plays as a 49er, but that was one of his most individually brilliant.

49ers highlights: Christian McCaffrey finds end zone in Seattle

Oh look, a Christian McCaffrey touchdown vs. the Seahawks.

The 49ers offense is rolling to open their Thanksgiving game against the Seahawks. Their third series was another nine-play drive, but this time they went 45 yards and capped it with a Christian McCaffrey touchdown run. McCaffrey has now scored TDs in consecutive weeks after having his 17-game streak snapped in Week 10.

49ers down 1 starting OL vs. Seahawks

The #49ers will be down a starting OL for the 5th consecutive week.

The 49ers will be without one of their starting offensive lineman for the fifth consecutive week. Starting right guard Spencer Burford is inactive for San Francisco’s Thanksgiving showdown with the Seattle Seahawks.

Starting left guard Aaron Banks will return from a toe injury he sustained in Week 8. Here’s who won’t suit up for San Francisco:

RG Spencer Burford (knee)
QB Brandon Allen (QB3)
RB Ty Davis-Price
LB Jalen Graham
TE Brayden Willis
DR Kalia Davis
OL Ben Bartch

Burford is working through a knee injury that cropped up in the lead up to Week 12. Head coach Kyle Shanahan indicated if the game was Sunday that Burford would be able to play, so for now the expectation is he’ll be in the lineup for Week 13 at Philadelphia.

Veteran OL Jon Feliciano is the likely candidate slide in at right guard. He filled in for Banks during his absence.

San Francisco has been without at least one offensive lineman every week since Trent Williams got hurt in Week 6. He missed Weeks 7 and 8, then Banks missed Weeks 10 and 11. Now Burford will be out for Week 12.

49ers can record franchise 1st with Week 12 win in Seattle

The #49ers can do something this year that they’ve never done before in Seattle.

The 49ers’ Week 12 matchup against the Seahawks will offer the club an opportunity to do something it has never done since Seattle entered the NFL for the 1976 season – beat them in Seattle in consecutive seasons.

There admittedly weren’t many opportunities for wins in the Pacific Northwest during the first few decades of Seahawks football since they were in the AFC. San Francisco played in Seattle four times before the Seahawks came to the NFC West in 2002. The 49ers were victorious in 1976, 1988 and 1991, then lost in 1997 before winning their inaugural NFC West showdown in Seattle during the 2002 season.

They’ve played there every year since with wins in 2006, 2008, 2011, 2019 and 2022. Winning in 2023 would be their first back-to-back wins in Seattle since 1988 and 1991, and their first time doing it in consecutive seasons.

A victory for San Francisco would offer some symbolism about how they’ve retaken control of a rivalry that got away from them for most of the 2010s.

Even bigger than the symbolism though is the boost it would give the 49ers in their quest to retain the NFC West crown. They’re a game up on the Seahawks and hold the intra-division tiebreaker. Striking the first blow in the hunt for the head-to-head tiebreak would put San Francisco firmly in the drivers seat to retain supremacy in the division, and over a team that’s been a thorn in their side for most of the last two decades.

Nick Bosa gingerly sacks Geno Smith to avoid penalty

Nick Bosa made sure not to draw a penalty on this sack of Geno Smith.

Nick Bosa was flagged for a tough roughing the passer penalty early on Seattle’s first series of the second half to negate a Pick-6 by Deommodore Lenoir. He made sure not to repeat the mistake on a second-and-21 for the Seahawks. Bosa flew around the corner to drag down QB Geno Smith for sack No. 15.5 on the season — an NFL high.

Vintage George Kittle puts 49ers up big on Seahawks

George Kittle is George Kittle-ing in Seattle.

The 49ers started the second half with a bang. On second-and-5, QB Brock Purdy floated a throw to TE George Kittle who was wide open down the left side. Kittle only needed to make a couple Seahawks miss as he went on a 54-yard jaunt to the end zone. Kittle has four catches for 93 yards and two touchdowns and the 49ers are up 21-3.

Kyle Juszczyk caps short drive with 1st TD of 2022

The 49ers are cruising in the first half vs. Seattle, and Kyle Juszczyk scored his 1st TD of the season.

The Seahawks muffed a punt and the 49ers recovered for their third takeaway of the game. They failed to capitalize on the first two, but they needed just four plays to find pay dirt after recovering the muffed punt. They capped the series with Kyle Juszczyk’s first rushing TD of the season and the 49ers went up 20-0.
