No. 4 Notre Dame 12, Louisville 7: 5 Instant Takeaways

It wasn’t the prettiest of performances but it was good enough to get Notre Dame to 4-0 for the first time since 2018.

And we know why the casinos in Vegas keep getting bigger and bigger it was widely thought that Notre Dame and Louisville would light up the scoreboard on Saturday, only to play to the tune of just 19 total points all afternoon.

It again won’t win any awards for being anything close to pretty for Notre Dame but the win does move the Fighting Irish to 4-0 on the season ahead of their first two road games of the year the next two weeks.

With that it’s time for our five instant takeaways from Saturday’s victory.

Chiefs players react to 4-0 start, win over Patriots in Week 4

A perfect start to the first quarter of the season has Chiefs players excited about what’s to come.

The Kansas City Chiefs notched their fourth win of the 2020 NFL season in Week 4 with a 26-10 victory over the New England Patriots. It made them the first team in NFL history to start four consecutive seasons with a 4-0 record.

This team is no stranger to success after winning Super Bowl LIV just a season ago, but they’ve treated this new season and each week as a clean slate. It’s a strategy that has helped them get over the hump and win in four very different games this season.

A number of players took to Twitter following this Week 4 game to react to their latest success. That includes a few players who didn’t participate in the game.

Standout rookie CB L’Jarius Sneed is on injured reserve, but you can bet that he was rooting on his teammates in this one. The talented secondary group stepped up in his absence, intercepting the ball three times in the game.

It was such a performance that it impressed newcomer Taco Charlton, who recorded his second sack and first forced fumble with the Chiefs.

Chris Jones saw the defensive line group step up in his absence, notching two sacks on the day. Sack Nation thrived without their leader on the field.

After the game, Tyrann Mathieu gave his best Bill Belichick impression. The Chiefs are “On to Cincinnati” if you will.

Patrick Mahomes, who was very critical of his own play after the game, had high praise for the defensive performance that helped put this game away.

Rookie DE Mike Danna, who left the game with a hamstring injury, got a nice note from his mother. Even though he didn’t finish the game, he’s still got a proud mom.

Everyone in the Chiefs Kingdom woke up 4-0 and there’s no better way to start the season.

Chiefs become first NFL team to start 4-0 in four consecutive seasons

The Kansas City Chiefs made NFL history as they advanced to 4-0 on the 2020 NFL season.

The Kansas City Chiefs broke some history following their Monday night dust-up with the New England Patriots.

The team advanced to 4-0 on the season with a hard-fought win over the Patriots. This marks the fourth consecutive season that the team has advanced to 4-0 to start the year. According to NFL Media’s Research Department, they’re the only team in the history of the NFL to ever do so.

This also marks the fifth time under Chiefs HC Andy Reid that the team has started out the season 4-0. It’s really a testament to his coaching and the culture that he brought to this team back in 2013 when he first joined the franchise.

Now, you might be thinking: “Well, the Chiefs have Patrick Mahomes at quarterback. He’s undefeated in September. That’s not so impressive.”

I have to say to you: “Not so fast.”

Back in 2017, Kansas City went 4-0 to start the season with Alex Smith as the starting quarterback for the team. While the arm of the 2018 AP NFL MVP certainly helped break this record for the Chiefs, this one was a team effort. It was earned by each and every individual that ever started a game on those teams and the coaching staff also deserves due credit for their creativity as well.

Seahawks continue perfect start to season with Week-4 win in Miami

The Seattle Seahawks continue their perfect start to the 2020 season with their Week-4 win in Miami against the Dolphins to advance to 4-0.

With their win in Miami against the Dolphins, the Seattle Seahawks have advanced to 4-0 for just the second time in franchise history. The first such start occurred the season the Seahawks won the Super Bowl.

Coach Pete Carroll is well aware of what the victories mean but is the first to admit there is still room for improvement this year.

“Well, yeah, first off, to get off 4 and 0 it’s a great start for us and we’re thrilled about that; as good as we could have done, and we still have a lot of good football to get better at,” Carroll said after the game. “We all know that, and the players know that, and we’re still working on improving and getting our game cleaner.”

The Seahawks still have a lot of football to be played and ensuring the health of the squad will be key heading deeper into the season. Fortunately, Seattle suffered no new injuries in Miami.

“Really pleased to come this way and get a win, finish off the first quarter of the season as we have, so that’s a good accomplishment for us,” Carroll continued. “Really fired up about that. Probably most pleased after it’s all over everybody got out of there pretty fit and all that. We didn’t get anybody banged up today which is good and we get to move our way into the next game with everybody that was playing today. That’s a good thing.”

The Seahawks have a couple of rest days to recover before reporting back to practice Wednesday morning.
