Huskers hosting four-star offensive tackle on Saturday

Nebraska is hosting some elite offensive line talent on Saturday.

Nebraska football is set to have a big visit weekend on Saturday, as they take on the UCLA Bruins. They will host a group of prospects, including class of 2026 four-star offensive tackle Claude Mpouma of Phillips High School out of Chicago.

According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Mpoumba is the 21st-ranked offensive tackle in the 2026 class and the sixth-ranked player in his class from the state of Illinois. He currently has an extensive offer sheet with 11 offers.

The Illinois Fighting Illini, the Michigan State Spartans, the Minnesota Golden Gophers, and the Wisconsin Badgers are some of the other Big Ten teams that have sent him an offer in addition to Nebraska. The Huskers officially offered him on October 3.

Currently, the 2026 Nebraska football recruiting class ranks 31st overall in the country with two commitments. Mpouma would be the highest-rated commit in this class so far. He measures in at six-foot-seven, 308 pounds.

He would give the Huskers another big-bodied offensive lineman and another blue-chip prospect for this class. It will be interesting to see how the program recruits the offensive line in the future.

2026 INF/P Connor Comeau has committed to Texas A&M baseball

Texas A&M baseball coach Michael Earley continues to roll, getting a commitment from a top player in Texas. On Monday, infielder Conner Comeau, out of Austin, TX, announced via social media that he will join the Aggies in Bryan, College Station.

Comeau is another commit who might not make it onto campus to play a game at Olsen Field. At 6′-4″ and 180 lbs., he has a good frame to build on and is one good offseason away from having MLB size. The 2026 grad has a Perfect Game grade of 10 and is a top-30 shortstop in the class.

He will be an interesting name to keep an eye on when the MLB draft rolls around, but for now, we’ll congratulate Comeau on his commitment and wish him a healthy season.

NCAA terminates national letter of intent program that has existed for 60 years

On Wednesday morning, the committee approved the NLI program to become apart of the NCAA’s signing and recruiting rules immediately.

The National Collegiate Athletics Association Division I Council voted last week to officially terminate its national letter of intent program.

On Wednesday morning, the committee approved the NLI program to become apart of the NCAA’s signing and recruiting rules immediately. However, a hearing will be held on April 7, 2025 to formally approve the decision.

Beginning in 1964, the NLI program has served as the binding agreement between the top high school athletes in the nation and the “non-profit” collegiate governing body. The agreement is going to be replaced by a new financial contract which aligns with the transition that the NCAA has recently gone through regarding athletes being able to profit off their respective Name, Image and Likeness.

There is an impending revenue sharing model that will be presented following NIL becoming a normal aspect of collegiate sports. Early signing day is on Dec. 4 and National Signing Day will take place on Feb. 5.
