Oklahoma Sooners favored to land 2025 four-star tight end

OUInsider’s Parker Thune issued a Rivals FutureCast favoring the Oklahoma Sooners for 2025 four-star Tight End DaSaahn Brame.

Sooners under the Stars” has wrapped as we get ready for the “Party at the Palace” to begin. One of the visitors at the first event of the week was four-star tight end, DaSaahn Brame.

The Derby, Kan. native is a big target standing at 6-foot-6 and 225 pounds. He ranks as a composite top 250 guy and ninth overall at his position. After Davon Mitchell reclassified to the 2024 class, it looks like the Sooners are all in on their 2025 guy.

On Thursday, OUInsider’s Parker Thune put in a prediction favoring the Sooners in Brame’s recruitment.

The Sooners continue to work towards a stacked tight end room. If Joe JoneFinley can pull in the commitment of the blue chip tight end out of Kansas, it would mark the fourth four-star player at the position to join the Sooners since 2022.

It would not come as a surprise if the Sooners didn’t have six or seven commitments in the 2025 class before the 2024 class has officially signed.

Right now, it looks like the Sooners will be battling with the in-state Kansas State Wildcats for Brame’s commitment.

Brame comes from an athletic background and is a Kansas State legacy. His dad, Da’Von, played linebacker at Kansas State, and his mom, Nicky, played women’s basketball for the Wildcats as well.

Brame displays the ability to be a threat as both a receiver and as a blocker, holding up well in the running game. In the modern era of college football, tight ends aren’t often called upon to block as much. Brame is an impact player in every facet of the game.

In Jeff Lebby’s system, it’s important for the tight end to contribute in both the running game and the passing game. With his size and athletic ability, he’ll be an impact player at the collegiate level.

Sooners land commitment from 2025 4-star WR Elijah Thomas out of Checotah

The Oklahoma Sooners picked up another commitment in the 2025 class, this time from four-star wide receiver Elijah Thomas.

The 2025 recruiting cycle has been fantastic for the Oklahoma Sooners, with a year and a half to go until 2025 national signing day. The Sooners added their fourth commitment, and second in as many days, with the pledge of 2025 four-star wide receiver Elijah Thomas.

Thomas, out of Checotah, Okla., is the No. 170 player in the 247Sports composite and the No. 25 wide receiver in the 2025 recruiting class. He chose the Oklahoma Sooners over offers from Oklahoma State, Arkansas, Kansas, Kansas State, Alabama, and Texas Tech.

The Oklahoma native is the No. 5 player in the state and joins a recruiting class that features four-star quarterback [autotag]Kevin Sperry[/autotag], four-star wide receiver [autotag]Gracen Harris[/autotag], and three-star defensive tackle [autotag]Ka’Mori Moore[/autotag].

The first thing you notice about Thomas is his ability to release off the line of scrimmage against press coverage. With fantastic lateral agility, he’s able to ditch his defender and get vertical in a hurry. Thomas displays really good route running and is smooth down the field. He’s got really nice hands and can break away from the defense after the catch. The four-star prospect displays the ability to track the football well in the air and time his jumps well when going up to get the football. While he has a slender frame at 6 feet and 160 pounds, he displays good toughness at the catch point and the ability to break tackles in the open field.

This is another fantastic addition to the Oklahoma Sooners wide receiver room with his ability to win at every level of the passing game.

He marks the seventh high school wide receiver commit for assistant coach [autotag]Emmett Jones[/autotag] since taking the job in January. It’s the fifth blue chip commitment earned by Jones in his tenure with the Sooners. Including transfer portal additions Andrel Anthony and Brenen Thompson, Jones has earned pledges from nine prospects in a little more than seven months on the job.

With the commitment of Elijah Thomas, the Sooners move up to No. 3 in the 2025 recruiting class. Only Alabama and Georgia sit in front of them in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings.

While the Sooners are working to close on their 2024 recruiting class, 2025 prospects are taking it upon themselves to get the ball rolling early in their recruiting cycle. It’s likely this isn’t the last commitment we see from the 2025 class before the fall season starts.

Prospects react to time with Oklahoma at latest recruiting event

It’s a big recruiting week for the Oklahoma Sooners with a pair of events. Here’s how recruits reacted to “Sooners under the Sun.”

The Oklahoma Sooners are in the final stretch of their summer recruiting efforts with a pair of recruiting events to close July.

First up was the Sooners under the Sun event for prospects from 2025 and beyond in Norman.

The event already yielded results: The Sooners earned the commitment of 2025 defensive tackle Ka’Mori Moore. Moore, out of [autotag]Lee’s Summit North[/autotag], is the latest from the Kansas City area high school to join the Sooners.

With four-star commits Kevin Sperry and Gracen Halton in attendance, the future Sooners went to work recruiting for the Sooners. With three commitments in the 2025 class, there’s a chance this event moves the needle with several other prospects enough to earn a commitment before we get to 2024’s national signing day.

Brent Venables and his staff have proven in their 20 months in Norman that they can recruit. With early returns on the 2025 class, that’s continuing to bear out. Before we get to the Party at the Palace, here’s a look at how prospects from the 2025 and 2026 recruiting classes reacted to their time spent in Norman.

Oklahoma Sooners land commitment from 2025 DT Ka’Mori Moore

The Oklahoma Sooners picked up their third commitment in the 2025 recruiting class with the pledge of DT Ka’Mori Moore.

The Oklahoma Sooners’ head start on the 2025 recruiting class continued on Wednesday evening with the commitment of defensive tackle [autotag]Ka’Mori Moore[/autotag].

Moore is a three-star prospect in the On3 database and hails from Lee’s Summit North High School. The same school that produced current Sooners offensive lineman Cayden Green and Oklahoma targets Williams Nwaneri and Isaiah Mozee.

In Moore, the Sooners get their third commitment of the 2025 recruiting cycle. He joins four-star quarterback [autotag]Kevin Sperry[/autotag] and four-star wide receiver [autotag]Gracen Harris[/autotag].

Here’s what our Bryant Crews had to say about the talented defensive tackle prospect.

Moore is powerful but has excellent agility for someone his size. His ability to stonewall offensive linemen allows him to disrupt timing on plays and enables the rest of the defense to make plays. Moore also spent time in June at one of Oklahoma’s camps, showcasing his skills in front of the coaching staff. – Crews, Sooners Wire

Brent Venables and the Oklahoma Sooners are off to a blistering start in the 2025 cycle. With their three commitments have the No. 8 recruiting class in the 247Sports team recruiting rankings.

The Sooners are working to rebuild their defensive line from the Alex Grinch days. They got started in the 2023 cycle with the commitment of Adepoju Adebawore and are looking to follow that up with a historic class in the 2024 cycle. With Moore’s commitment, the Sooners are trending toward stacking good defensive line classes together as they prepare for life in the SEC.

Recruiting Roundup: Latest Alabama recruiting news to close out the month of July

The recruiting dead period has been lifted and Alabama will host a number of targets and commits over the course of the week.

Alabama will host its final summer camp on Tuesday. A handful of prospects have received offers from the Alabama coaching staff following impressive performances at camp. That could be the case for several more.

The recruiting dead period is open from July 25-July 29, which means that high school prospects are allowed to make visits to college programs across the country during that time frame.

A number of current commits and targets are expected to be in Tuscaloosa this weekend for Alabama’s July cookout.

Roll Tide Wire breaks down the latest Alabama football recruiting news.

Alabama MBB offers 2025 5-star PG Darius Acuff Jr.

2025 point guard Darius Acuff Jr. received an offer from Alabama on Thursday. Acuff is a five-star prospect out of Detroit, Michigan.

The Alabama coaching staff extended an offer to 2025 point guard Darius Acuff Jr. on Thursday.

Acuff Jr. plays for Cass Techincal High School in Detroit, Michigan. As a junior, Acuff Jr. was named the 2022-2023 MaxPreps Michigan High School Basketball Player of the Year. He averaged 21.4 points per game and 5.7 assists per game.

Acuff Jr. helped the school win its first Division 1 State Championship.

Alabama head coach Nate Oats was formerly the head coach of Romulus High School (MI) which is located 30 minutes outside of Detroit. He has experience recruiting and coaching in the state of Michigan. Oats and the Alabama coaching staff will continue to recruit Acuff Jr. in the coming years.

Prospect Profile: 2025 defensive tackle Ka’Mori Moore

A look at Sooners 2025 defensive line target Ka’Mori Moore out of Lee’s Summit, Mo.

Oklahoma is one more recruit away from locking up Lee’s Summit North High School as an official recruiting pipeline. Between their pursuit and signing of Cayden Green in the class of 2023, their pursuit of one of the nation’s best prospects in Williams Nwaneri for 2024, and 2025 four-star wide receiver Isaiah Mozee, Oklahoma has a strong relationship with the Kansas City area football program.

It helps when the head coach of the team is former player Jamar Mozee. Mozee was a running back on the Sooners’ last national title-winning squad back in 2000.

The possible pipeline could grow even more if the Sooners can land yet another Power Five caliber player that Lee’s Summit has to offer. 2025 nose tackle Ka’Mori Moore was the latest athlete from that high school to receive an offer from Oklahoma.

The Sooners are actively recruiting his teammates, and it’s only natural that the 6-foot-1, 310-pound defensive tackle is being recognized.

He has a frame that could also hold a bit more weight and help him be a wrecking ball in the middle of defenses at the collegiate level. He has offers from Nebraska, UNLV, and Iowa State as well.

In a world where Oklahoma lands Williams Nwaneri this recruiting cycle, it’s hard to imagine the Sooners not being a leader in Moore’s recruitment. Brandon Drumm, the Rivals insider for Oklahoma sports, already logged a future cast in favor of Moore landing with Oklahoma.

Sooners predicted to land 2025 DE Gus Cordova

Just hours after offering 2025 defensive end Gus Cordova, the Sooners were predicted to land 2025 DE Gus Cordova.

The Oklahoma Sooners are continuing their momentum on the recruiting trail. While 2024 is at the forefront of everyone’s mind, OU is also making headway on the 2025 recruiting cycle.

Gus Cordova is an under-the-radar prospect, with just two offers on his list. Baylor and the Oklahoma Sooners are taking an early run at the 6-foot-5, 250-pound defensive end. One can surmise that the kid is a pretty good player if Dave Aranda and Brent Venables are in pursuit.

Cordova’s length is a problem for opposing offensive tackles and he has great power at the point of attack. His long arms allow him to cut down running angles to the edge when the quarterback or running back attempt to break contain. He’s a disciplined player in the read-option game, holding his edge until the quarterback makes the decision with the football.

Though he’s an unrated prospect with the major recruiting sites, he will not stay that way for long. Once he gets his evaluation, he could be a four-star prospect across the board.

OUInsider’s Parker Thune issued a prediction favoring the Oklahoma Sooners not long after their offer became public, so it’s safe to say the Sooners are the front-runner for the Austin, Texas native.

While it’s still early in the 2025 cycle, it looks like the Sooners are in a good spot to land Cordova.

Alabama MBB offers 2025 center Oswin Erhunmwunse

The Alabama coaching staff extended an offer to 2025 center Oswin Erhunmwunse. Erhunmwunse plays for Putnam Science Academy in Putnam, Connecticut.

The Alabama coaching staff extended an offer to 2025 center Oswin Erhunmwunse on Friday.

Erhunmwunse plays for Putnam Science Academy in Putnam, Connecticut. He is listed at 6-foot-9, 210 pounds.

With two years of high school remaining, Erhunmwunse will have time to continue to grow his frame and develop his skillset. In Alabama’s system, he would likely play power forward or center. He is similar in stature to Alabama forward Nick Pringle. Pringle is 6-foot-9, 220 pounds.

Several other 2025 prospects that Alabama is recruiting at the center position are Francis Chukwudebelu and Jamarion Davis-Fleming.

Roll Tide Wire breaks down Oswin Erhunmwunse’s recruiting profile.
