Oklahoma Sooners earn another crystal ball for highly sought 2025 safety

The Oklahoma Sooners continue to rack in predictions for one of the most sought-after 2025 products.

The Oklahoma Sooners have a chance to put together a special recruiting class in 2025. The Sooners currently sit with 10 commitments and rank No. 6 in the country.

Since their junior day in January, they’ve been getting numerous predictions in their favor for one of the most sought high school players, five-star safety [autotag]Jonah Williams[/autotag] from Galveston, Texas.

That continued on Monday as the Sooners gained one from 247Sports’ national recruiting analyst Mike Roach. Roach put in his prediction with a confidence level of six. Roach joins 247Sports director of football recruiting Steve Wiltfong, who issued a crystal ball prediction on Feb. 6.

Williams is a linebacker/safety hybrid, with the Sooners recruiting him more as a safety, but I could see him ultimately growing into the cheetah role for Oklahoma. He finished with 54 tackles, eight pass breakups, four interceptions, three interceptions returned for touchdowns and four punt and kick return touchdowns last season.

The No. 14 overall player in the country would be a major get for anyone in the country, but especially at Oklahoma, which is set to lose [autotag]Billy Bowman[/autotag] after this year. One thing we’ve seen, though, since this regime took over in 2022 is safeties coach [autotag]Brandon Hall[/autotag] can recruit and has done a good job at developing as well.

So, the Sooners have the right guy in charge of leading his recruitment it’s now just about closing the deal.

Three more predictions favor the Sooners for 2025 5-Star safety

Oklahoma has put themselves in prime position for elite 2025 defensive back.

The Oklahoma Sooners are building something special in their [autotag]2025 recruiting class[/autotag] so far. There is still a long way to go before Early Signing Day but if the Sooners can continue this momentum, they could have a special class on their hands.

Saturday, the Sooners received a prediction from On3’s Texas insider Justin Wells for five-star safety [autotag]Jonah Williams[/autotag], but since then, three more predictions have come in in favor of the Sooners. One of which is from Texas A&M Insider Landyn Rosow. SoonerScoop’s Josh McCuistion and On3’s Sam Spiegelman also issued predictions in the Sooners’ favor.

The prediction from the Aggies recruiting insider is a big one. Texas A&M has been a thorn in Oklahoma’s side on the recruiting trail in recent years. Williams also reportedly canceled his visit to A&M that was scheduled for this weekend sighting a prior commitment.

But this is the big one for Oklahoma, especially on the defensive side of the ball. This class has a lot of potential to be a special offensive line class, but there aren’t a ton of highly-touted defensive players Oklahoma is in the running for. So Williams could be the face of the class on the defensive side of the ball.

Now, it’s up to [autotag]Brent Venables[/autotag], [autotag]Brandon Hall[/autotag], and the rest of the Sooners staff to bring it home and get pen to paper on signing day.

Oklahoma Sooners earn commitment from 3-Star OT Ryan Fodje

The Oklahoma Sooners picked up their 10th commitment in the 2025 recruiting cycle with a pledge from offensive tackle Ryan Fodje.

The Oklahoma Sooners hot start in the [autotag]2025 recruiting class[/autotag] continued Sunday morning with a commitment from offensive tackle [autotag]Ryan Fodje[/autotag].

Fodje is currently considered a three-star prospect according to 247Sports and On3 but has received a lot of buzz in recent months, picking up a number of high-profile offers.

In addition to the Sooners’ offer, Fodje holds offers from Texas, Texas A&M, Oregon, Nebraska, Missouri, Tennessee, and USC. He’s considered a top 30 offensive tackle prospect in the 2025 recruiting cycle but could see his stock rise.

Last summer, Fodje spent time with the Sooners at Brent Venables Football Camp and earned an offer from Oklahoma in August. That August 26 offer from OU was his first, but over the last four months picked up 18 more offers. In the last couple of weeks, he received offers from Texas, Oklahoma State, and Oregon among others. He even spent time at Texas’ Junior Day on January 20.

The commitment marks the Sooners 10th in the [autotag]2025 recruiting cycle[/autotag] and second offensive line commitment, joining [autotag]Owen Hollenbeck[/autotag] from Melissa, Texas.

Fodje moves very well with his 6-foot-5, 275-pound frame. He has a nice first step in pass protection and uses his length well. As a run blocker, Fodje is a physical player. Once he engages his defender, he doesn’t disengage until the opponent is on the ground or the play is over. He does a great job driving his feet and blocking through the whistle. He’s a natural athlete who has all the tools to make a huge impact at the University of Oklahoma.

Oklahoma Sooners get prediction for top 50 2025 recruit

The Oklahoma Sooners received yet another prediction for a 2025 recruit, this top for a top 50 defensive end.

The Oklahoma Sooners continue to work to put their 2025 recruiting class together which has a chance to be the best one in the Brent Venables’ era. Right now with nine commits, it’s ranked as a top-five class in the country.

A commit that could be a big help to the class is the state of Oklahoma’s top prospect and a top 50 overall player, [autotag]C.J. Nickson[/autotag]. The 6-foot-5 220-pound EDGE would be a massive get for the Sooners. It seems like the Sooners have done a good job early on in the process as Rivals and OUInsider’s Brandon Drumm submitted a Futurecast for the talented defender.

Nickson had a really good junior season finishing with 54 tackles, five tackles for loss and five pass break ups. He also plays offense where he caught 34 passes for 577 yards and five touchdowns. He’s also a really talented basketball player and 247Sports reports he has offers from Oral Roberts, Tulsa and UT Arlington.

There has been some speculation he might play basketball at Oklahoma along with football. That’s something that would have to be worked out with [autotag]Porter Moser[/autotag].

Nonetheless, Oklahoma currently leads for the talented defender as On3 gives them the best odds to land Nickson. This one feels like there is still a long way to go so there is still a lot more work to be done.

Oklahoma Sooners earn crystal ball prediction for 2025 4-Star cornerback

The Oklahoma Sooners got another prediction for a talented 2025 prospect. This time for a 4-Star cornerback.

The Oklahoma Sooners are hoping to build upon strong early momentum for their [autotag]2025 recruiting class[/autotag]. They currently have nine commitments which has been rare this early in the Brent Venables’ era.

The Sooners currently have three defensive players committed but none of those are in the secondary. Could they potentially get their first one? Well, 247Sports Oklahoma Insider Collin Kennedy has put in a prediction favoring the Sooners to land 4-Star cornerback Cobey Sellers.

Kennedy joins Parker Thune and Brandon Drumm of OUInsider, who issued picks for the Sooners last week.

Sellers is currently a top 150 player and top 20 player at his position in the country. The Sooners hosted Sellers at their most recent Junior Day event which saw some of the most talented players in the 2025 class come to Norman.

The Sooners are the heavy favorites according to On3, with the Texas Longhorns, [autotag]Baylor Bears[/autotag] and [autotag]SMU Mustangs[/autotag] being the other three to receive any percentage. So for now it looks like Oklahoma’s race to lose.

Oklahoma Sooners receive Rival Futurecast for 2025 four-star cornerback

The Oklahoma Sooners look to be in a favorable position for 2025 four-star cornerback Cobey Sellers.

The Oklahoma Sooners have had a strong start to the 2025 recruiting cycle, with nine players currently committed to the class. A lot of work has been done on the offensive side of the ball, but Oklahoma does have commitments from a pair of defensive line prospects in Ka’Mori Moore and Alexander Shieldknight, and an athlete projected to play outside linebacker, Marcus James.

Well, the Oklahoma Sooners look like they’re making headway for another defensive standout, four-star cornerback Cobey Sellers. Sellers is a top 150 player in the 2025 recruiting class, according to 247Sports and On3, and a consensus top 30 player at his position across the board.

He’s a player that already has good size, standing 6-0 and weighing 170 pounds, and he plays like it. He’s a sticky-man corner that will play through the receiver at the catch point and helps in run support. He’s got the athleticism to play in both man and zone coverages and make plays on the ball in the air.

For Shadow Creek, Sellers also returned punts, and during his senior season, played quarterback.

He’s a good player who will be an important target to follow as the 2025 recruiting class takes center stage. Cornerbacks coach Jay Valai has done an excellent job building his depth chart and Sellers would be another excellent addition.

Sellers has a big-time offer sheet, including Georgia, Oregon, Washington, Texas, Texas A&M, LSU, and Penn State.
