LSU hosts elite five-star 2025 quarterback for weekend visit

The Tigers will hope they can make a strong impression on Brentwood Academy (Tenn.) passer George MacIntyre.

Even with a solid quarterback outlook in the coming years, you can never neglect to add talent at the position, which has become even more crucial in the transfer portal era.

With that in mind, LSU is targeting several of the top signal-callers in the 2025 cycle, and it hosted one of them on campus this weekend in five-star Brentwood Academy (Tenn.) prospect [autotag]George MacIntyre[/autotag].

The 6-foot-5 prospect ranks as the No. 30 overall player in the 2025 class, per the 247Sports Composite, and he’s the No. 3 quarterback. He picked up an offer from LSU on March 10, one of several recent big-time offers he’s landed.

In addition to the three scholarship quarterbacks currently on the roster — [autotag]Jayden Daniels[/autotag], [autotag]Garrett Nussmeier[/autotag] and [autotag]Rickie Collins[/autotag] — LSU also has a commitment from 2024 blue-chip passer [autotag]Colin Hurley[/autotag], who reclassified from 2025.

With some attrition between now and MacIntyre’s signing all but inevitable, LSU will look to add another quarterback in that class, and MacIntyre would be an elite option.

LSU emerging as an early favorite for 4-star 2025 receiver after visit

The Tigers will hope to pull Florida wideout Koby Howard away from several in-state suitors.

After a March 10 unofficial visit to Baton Rouge, LSU is emerging as an early favorite for 2025 four-star Pensacola (Fla.) Catholic receiver [autotag]Koby Howard[/autotag].

The 6-foot-1, 175-pound prospect is one of the top receivers in the 2025 class, and he ranks No. 69 overall nationally, according to the On3 Consensus Rankings. According to a report from On3’s Sam Spiegelman (subscription required), Howard spent a lot of time on his visit with receivers coach [autotag]Cortez Hankton[/autotag].

The talented Florida wideout would be a major addition to the Tigers’ 2025 class, but there’s a lot of competition for him. He also visited Miami this spring and is being recruited heavily by Florida and Florida State, as well, in addition to Notre Dame.

Florida State is currently the favorite to land him, according to On3, holding a 21% prediction. LSU sits at just 6.7%. but it hopes that will change in the wake of his visit.

Top 2025 running back sets spring LSU visit

The New Orleans prospect will be on campus April 1.

[autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] is still working to flesh out what could be a special 2024 recruiting class for LSU, but he’s balancing focusing on the present with thinking about the future.

In the latter vein, the Tigers will be hosting No. 1 2025 running back [autotag]Harlem Berry[/autotag] for a visit on April 1. Berry, a Metairie native who plays at St. Martin’s Episcopal School, told On3’s Sam Spiegelman that LSU running backs coach [autotag]Frank Wilson[/autotag] has been the most frequent visitor at his school.

Wilson is the Tigers’ ace recruiter who focuses on the New Orleans area given his deep ties to the city, so it’s not surprising that he would make Berry a priority. However, LSU isn’t the only school vying for his talents.

Berry also has a visit set with Oklahoma on March 25, and he said he’ll likely take a trip to Florida, too. Berry’s uncle is Jabbar Juluke, the Gators’ running backs coach. UF is yet to offer him, but given his talent, that’s likely to change.

On3 ranks Berry as the No. 12 prospect in the 2025 class and the best player in Louisiana. There will be a lot of competition to land him, but LSU presently seems to be in a decent spot for the in-state running back.

LSU hosted top 2025 quarterback for a visit this past weekend

LSU seems to be off to a good start with the top signal-caller in next year’s cycle.

LSU had a jam-packed weekend of recruiting visitors for junior day.

Most of the recruits were members of the 2024 class, but a big 2025 name was there, too: [autotag]Bryce Underwood[/autotag], the top QB in the class.

The 6-foot-3, 210-pound signal-caller traveled from Michigan. The visit went well, and the Underwood family told 247Sports that it felt like a second home. Underwood’s father told On3 he was impressed with LSU, saying the staff had a plan, something he hadn’t seen from other schools yet.

It’s still early and LSU’s just getting started with its 2024 class, but Underwood is as big-time as big-time gets.

Landing an elite QB is essential to competing for championships in this day and age, and you have to recruit them early. LSU already has [autotag]Colin Hurley[/autotag] in the 2024 class. Following Hurley up with Underwood gives LSU a great shot at remaining in the national title discussion.
