2025 5-star safety Jonah Williams will announce his commitment later next month

2025 5-star athlete/safety Jonah Williams has announced his commitment for later next month. Texas A&M is still leading the pack after hosting the talented defender on June 7, but don’t count out the Oregon Ducks, who hosted Williams for an official visit just two weeks later.

Amid a successful summer, Mike Elko and his staff have struck recruiting gold over the last three months, landing 19 commitments, including four of the top three 2025 prospects in California, led by 5-star quarterback Husan Longstreet.

While some of us speculated that Williams would announce his commitment this month, the incoming Ball HS senior posted on X that he would announce his commitment on Monday, August 26, choosing between USC, Texas, LSU, Oregon, and Texas A&M.

During his junior season in 2023, Williams played wide receiver on offense and safety/linebacker on defense, showcasing his duel-threat ability while recording 474 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, 58 tackles, four interceptions (three returned for touchdowns), four tackles for loss, and four punt return touchdowns on special teams. According to 247Sports, Williams is currently positioned as the 7th-ranked prospect in the 2025 recruiting class, the No. 1-ranked linebacker prospect, and the 3rd-ranked prospect in Texas.

2025 5-star safety out of Galveston (TX) is predicted to land with Texas A&M

Texas A&M is now the favorite to land one of the top athletes in the 2025 recruiting class

Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko and his staff are on the verge of landing one of the premier athletes in the 2025 recruiting cycle, as five-star safety Jonah Williams has received an official prediction from On3 recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong to choose the Aggies in the coming months, weeks, or even days.

Late last month, Williams released his Top 7 program list, as Oklahoma, LSU, Oregon, USC, Ohio State, and the Texas Longhorns joined Texas A&M  as the finalists to compete for his talents.

At an impressive 6-3 and 203 pounds, Williams’ size and versatility are comparable to those of New York Giants safety linebacker Isaiah Simmons. But on the field, he truly shines, demonstrating his productivity and potential. During his junior season in 2023, he played wide receiver on offense and safety/linebacker on defense, showcasing his duel-threat ability.

During that season, he recorded 474 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, 58 tackles, four interceptions (three returned for touchdowns), four tackles for loss, and four punt return touchdowns on special teams. Yes, he can do it all.

Williams would be the highest-rated prospect in the Aggies’ 2025 recruiting class with nine current commitments.

Is Texas A&M a favorite to land 2025 5-star safety Jonah Williams?

2025 5-star safety Jonah Williams is reportedly a favorite to land with Texas A&M according to one analyst

This summer, Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko and his hard-working staff are set to host a long list of 2025 and 2026 prospects, which includes one of the most sought-after athletes in the 2025 cycle, five-star safety Jonah Williams.

Texas A&M made Williams’ Top 7 program list last week, joining Oklahoma, LSU, Oregon, USC, Ohio State, and the Texas Longhorns.

Williams, who has been connected to the program since last year, has already taken several unofficial visits to College Station, including last July, and is scheduled to return to campus on June 7 for his first official visit before heading to Ohio State and Oregon for consecutive weekend visits.

Williams has been a favorite to land with Oklahoma since February, but this week, former 247Sports and now On3 recruiting analyst Steve Wiltfong recently provided some recruiting updates across the college football landscape, with a focus on Williams’ upcoming visit to Texas A&M, stating,

“I think the Aggies are the favorite going into the Official Visits now.”

This is obviously significant news heading into a busy summer that could result in another highly successful recruiting period, as Elko has secured nine commitments in the 2025 recruiting class so far.

According to 247Sports, Williams is currently positioned as the 12th-ranked prospect in the 2025 class, the 2nd-ranked linebacker prospect, and the fourth-ranked prospect in Texas.

Rivals insider Landyn Rosow has reported that 2025 5-star athlete/safety Jonah Williams will visit Texas A&M sometime this spring.

Texas A&M’s 2025 recruiting class is shaping up to be a slam dunk for new head football coach Mike Elko, already acquiring several commitments, including 4-star linebacker Kelvion Riggins and 4-star cornerback Deyjhon Pettaway last weekend.
