2025 5-star CB Dijon Lee will announce his commitment later this week

2025 5-star cornerback Dijion Lee will announce his commitment on Friday

Amidst the upheaval in Texas A&M’s baseball program, the football program is forging ahead. New head coach Mike Elko has been a beacon of hope this offseason, making significant strides on the recruiting trail. His efforts have already borne fruit, with 14 commitments secured for the 2025 recruiting cycle, promising a bright future for the team.

One of the interesting trends among the program has been Elko’s success in California, as two of the top five players from the state have committed the Aggies, led by five-star quarterback Husan Longstreet out of Corona, California, and four-star cornerback Adonyss Currie out of Lancaster, California.

Already making headway with the top-ranked cornerback prospect in the state, five-star CB Dijon Lee is set to announce his commitment on Friday, June 28, as Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Washington, USC, and Texas A&M remain his finalists. Since May, Lee has taken official visits to nearly every one of his final programs, including Texas A&M, back on June 11.

On Tuesday, it was revealed that Lee will make his announcement live on 247Sports’ YouTube channel at 2:30 ET, as Alabama has now become the favorite to earn his initial commitment.

Standing at 6-4 and 190 pounds, Lee is long, rangy, and instinctual. The elite cornerback prospect looks like a perfect fit in Elko and new defensive coordinator Jay Bateman’s system, possessing all the traits necessary to become a lockdown corner on the boundary.

According to 247Sports Composite, Lee is currently positioned as the 22nd-ranked prospect in the class, the 4th-ranked cornerback, and the No. 1-ranked prospect in California.

2025 5-star CB out of Mission Viejo (CA) has set his commitment date

2025 5-star cornerback Dijon Lee will announce his commitment late next month

On Tuesday, Texas A&M made the spotlight for several 2025 prospects who are set to either visit this summer or announce their commitment in the coming months during an appearance at an On3 Elite event.

One of these future collegiate players is five-star cornerback Dijon Lee, the second-ranked prospect in California.

For those who have kept up with the Aggies’ recent recruiting success in The Golden State, Mike Elko earned his second commitment on Friday in the form of 2025 four-star cornerback Adonyss Currie, one of the more promising defensive backs in the cycle.

Coupled with five-star quarterback commit Husan Longstreet, Elko could land the No. 1, 2, and 3 players from California if Lee were to choose the Aggies.

During his appearance at the On3 event, the incoming Mission Vijeo HS senior was seen carrying five hats from his Top 4 program list with one new addition, made up of Washington, Georgia, Alabama, Texas, and Texas A&M.

With his final list revealed, Lee also announced that he will choose his collegiate destination between all five programs on Friday, June 28, just 14 days after his official visit to Texas A&M on June 14.

Texas A&M continues to dominate the California 2025 recruiting trail

Texas A&M’s recruiting success in California has been nothing short of elite

What an offseason it has been for Texas A&M on the recruiting trail under first-year head coach Mike Elko. The Aggies 2025 recruiting class has once again risen in the rankings after landing the second-top-ranked prospect out of California, four-star cornerback Adonyss Currie.

Joining five-star quarterback commit Husan Longstreet, the No. 1-ranked player in California, Currie is just two spots below him at No. 3 in 247Sports’ updated recruiting rankings. Five-star cornerback Dijon Lee out of Mission Viejo (CA) is the second-ranked prospect in the state and recently included Texas A&M in his final four program list.

With the high possibility of securing Lee’s commitment as soon as this summer, the Aggies have dominated the California recruiting landscape, and it’s not just Elko who deserves credit.

Throughout the start of the year, Texas A&M cornerback coaches Ishmael Aristide and Jordan Peterson combined with Aggies defensive coordinator Jay Bateman have traveled up and down The Golden State, not only developing relationships with Currie and Lee, as four-star linebacker Noah Mikhail is set to visit College Station on June 7 before announcing his intentions on June 30.

During the 2023 season, the Aggies consistently dealt with a lack of talent and depth in the secondary, leading to Elko adding seven defensive backs through the transfer portal. The addition of Currie is a good sign that under Elko and Bateman’s defensive guidance, Texas A&M’s future pass defense could be one of the best in the SEC.

2025 5-star CB out of Mission Viejo has placed Texas A&M in his Top 4

Texas A&M is now a finalist for one of the most talented defenders in the 2025 cycle

Under new head coach Mike Elko, Texas A&M’s 2025 recruiting class has landed 11 commitments in the cycle, including four offensive linemen and three cornerbacks. Elko and his staff have a defensive mindset heading into a busy recruiting summer.

Just days after landing a huge commitment from 2025 four-star cornerback Cobey Sellers, it has been reported that 2025 five-star defensive back Dijon Lee has released his Top 4 program list, which includes Washington, Georgia, Alabama, and Texas A&M.

Hailing out of Mission Viejo, California, the fact that USC wasn’t a finalist is quite telling. Still, for those surprised that the Aggies have made the cut, it shouldn’t be, as secondary coaches Jordan Peterson and Ishmael Aristide have continued to show their promise this offseason.

According to 247Sports Composite, Lee is currently positioned as the 26th-ranked prospect in the class, the 5th-ranked cornerback, and the No. 1-ranked prospect in California.
