Texas A&M loses out on 2025 4-star WR Taz Williams Jr.

2025 4-star WR. Taz Williams Jr. shocked everyone by choosing the Baylor Bears on Saturday afternoon

Texas A&M’s 2025 recruiting class is already impressive. First-year head coach Mike Elko has already landed 18 commitments, led by five-star quarterback Husan Longstreet and 15 offensive linemen and defenders.

However, with just one wide receiver commit in the class in the form of three-star Tristan Norman, new wide receivers coach Holmon Wiggins has his work cut out for him in the coming months, as several 2025 targets remain uncommitted until later next month. Still, one prospect is now off the board.

On Saturday, 2025 4-star WR Taz Williams Jr. shocked us all after choosing the Baylor Bears, who weren’t included in his top 4 program list made up of Michigan, Penn State, SMU, and Texas A&M, as the incoming Red Oak HS senior took official visits to every program this summer, including a final trip to Baylor on June 29.

Last week, 4-star defensive end Kamauryn Morgan committed to the Bears, becoming one of the program’s highest-rated commits/ William’s and Morgan’s noted friendship could have played a small part in his commitment. Still, Baylor’s future offense also needs receiver talent, making this a slam-dunk addition to head coach Dave Aranda’s offense.

On the field, Williams is coming off his productive 2023 junior season, during which he recorded 80 receptions, 1,251 yards, and 14 touchdowns through the air. Heading into the weekend, all three finalists are virtually tied, while Penn State holds a slight advantage.

According to 247Sports Composite, Williams is currently ranked 275th in the 2025 cycle, 38th wide receiver, and 41st in Texas.

Texas A&M’s 2025 recruiting class made significant progress last weekend. Mike Elko and his impressive coaching staff hosted a long and talented list of 2025 prospects, some of whom are on the cusp of committing to the program sooner rather than later.

While 2025 five-star offensive tackle Michael Fasusi’s recent comments regarding Elko and offensive line coach Adam Cushing made headlines, fellow 2025 four-star wide receiver Taz Williams Jr., who has been on the Aggies’ radar since former head coach Jimbo Fisher offered him back in 2022.

“Texas A&M is definitely the team to beat right now.”

Taz Williams Jr. recently discussed his relationship with Texas A&M’s coaching staff

2025 4-star WR Taz Williams Jr. recently reflected on his relationship with Texas A&M’s coaching staff

This summer, Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko and his staff will host a bevy of 2025 recruiting talent in the first two weeks of June, including four-star wide receiver Taz Williams Jr. out of Red Oak, Texas.

Williams is the current poster boy for underrated prospects in the 2025 cycle. The incoming senior possesses the size, speed, and consistent toughness to not only produce at the college level but also develop into an NFL wide receiver, barring setbacks in his future development.

While Williams will visit Texas A&M on Thursday, June 6, he will also take consecutive visits to Penn State and Michigan the following weekend. During a recent interview with Wolverines Wire Editor Isaiah Hole, the rising prospect provided brief insight on his relationship with the Aggies coaching staff.

“Coach Wig and I have a great relationship already, since he was at Alabama. I really like the offense that Coach Klein and – he’s a great O.C. to be playing (for). Especially my position. Coach Elko, he has an open door policy, and I like that about the head coach. That’s something that’s on my list that I want from a head coach.”

Growing closer to Texas A&M WR coach Holmon Wiggins and Aggies OC Collin Klein is vital to understanding his future fit in A&M’s new offense, which will officially be unveiled this coming season.

On the field, Williams is coming off his productive 2023 junior season, during which he recorded 80 receptions, 1,251 yards, and 14 touchdowns through the air. He possesses the speed, quickness, and run-after-catch ability to help any offense as soon as he steps on campus.

According to 247Sports Composite, Williams is currently ranked 292nd in the 2025 cycle, 36th wide receiver, and 45th in Texas.
