Watch Texas A&M 2025 LB commit show off his strength on the squat rack

2025 4-star linebacker and Texas A&M commit Kelvion Riggins is one strong dude

It’s always impressive, and in some instances, it’s plain entertaining to watch the development of future collegiate football players in the weight room, continuously building strength and adding more power to their playing arsenal.

For Texas A&M, head coach Mike Elko’s first commitment in the Aggies’ 2025 recruiting class is beginning to make a name for himself both on the field and in the weight room as four-star linebacker Kelvion Riggins recently hit an impressive personal squat record to start the month.

For two reps, Riggins squatted an eye-popping 550 pounds among his fellow Forney HS teammates and coaching staff. For those who have been weightlifting for more than a decade, including myself, this is a highly impressive achievement on the rack.

Riggins made news last month after declaring that he would not take any recruiting visits outside of Texas A&M going forward. This further cements his future with the program, which has become a rarity in the ever-changing college football landscape.

On the field, Riggins recorded 88 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, and five sacks on the year. According to 247Sports, he is currently positioned as the 73rd-ranked linebacker and the 105th-ranked prospect in Texas.

2025 4-star LB Kelvion Riggins releases statement regarding future visits

2025 4-star linebacker and Aggie commit Kelvion Riggins remains 100% committed to Texas A&M

When Texas A&M head coach Mike Elko was hired back in November, One of his primary goals was securing as many early commitments as possible the 2025 recruiting class, as four-star linebacker Kelvion Riggins became the first prospect to choose the Aggies under Elko’s new leadership.

Still viewed as an underrated prospect, Riggins is a high motor down hill backer with the size and athleticsm to develop into a starter by his second year with the program, as he has remained “100% committed” since making his announcement back on Jan. 26.

While nearly every one of the ten other current commitments in the Aggies 2025 class will take unofficial and official visits to other programs this summer, Riggins recently stated that the only visit he will be taking is heading back to Texas A&M on Thursday, June 6.

Heading into his senior season has Forney HS in Forney, Texas, Riggins recorded 88 tackles, 12 tackles for loss and five sacks on the year. According to 247Sports, Riggins is currently positioned as the 73rd-ranked linebacker, and the 105th-ranked prospect in Texas.

Several high profile 2025 prospects set to visit Texas A&M this weekend

The Aggies are set to host several high priority 2025 prospects this weekend in the midst of spring practices

Texas A&M’s spring football season has begun, and new head coach Mike Elko and his staff are working hard with the current roster. They are bringing back a bevy of talent and experience on offense and defense, including key players from the transfer portal.

While these practices coincide with the spring transfer portal window opening on April 15, every program will likely be affected by the need to meet its roster number or add more talent.

What does this mean to the Aggies? Recruiting becomes even more important down the stretch. It has been confirmed that several high-profile 2025 prospects, including 2025 5-star offensive tackle Michael Fasusi, will make their way to College Station this weekend.

Fasusi, who visited Texas A&M last weekend, has already scheduled an official visit in June, as Elko will continue to battle for his commitment with Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian.

Joining Fasusi, 4-star tight end Kiotti Armstrong and 4-star linebacker commit Kelvion Riggins will also return to campus this weekend, as Riggins, who committed to the program back in January, has reportedly “shut down” his recruitment until further notice.

Armstrong, who recorded nine receiving touchdowns during his 2023 junior season, already paid an unofficial visit to CSTAT in early February, while an official visit is scheduled for June 13.
