Well, unsurprising to his teammates and those of us who have covered his play, Rink successfully cleaned 350 pounds, and even though it wasn’t perfect, he got the job done!

During his 2023 junior season, Rink’s performance was exceptional. He was one of the most dominant high school players in the country. He recorded an impressive 70 tackles, 15 sacks, 30 tackles for loss, five pass breakups, and two forced fumbles.

According to Rivals, Rink is the 175th-ranked prospect in the 2025 class, the 11th-ranked defensive lineman, and the 25th-ranked prospect in Texas.

A term used in football, especially concerning defensive and offensive linemen, is known as “functional strength,” which is usually separate from how a player performs in the weight room.

However, strength in the weight room sometimes only makes a naturally gifted football player much better. One example? 2025 four-star defensive lineman Landon Rink, out of Cy-Fair HS, committed to Texas A&M over Oklahoma and Ohio State in early April.

During his 2023 junior season, Rink’s performance was nothing short of exceptional. He was one of the most dominant high school players in the country. He recorded an impressive 70 tackles, 15 sacks, 30 tackles for loss, five pass breakups, and two forced fumbles.

After announcing that he planned to cancel any remaining recruiting visits outside of returning to College Station, Rink made his way to the OT7 competition this week. On Thursday, the incoming senior impressed every player, coach, and media member with his performance on the bench press and squat.

Recording an incredible 23 reps of 225 on the bench press would be an above-average number for a defensive lineman competing in the NFL Draft. This is equivalent to a nearly 400-pound one-rep max. Even more impressive, Rink recorded 24 reps of 315 pounds on the squat rack, which is equivalent to a 567-pound one-rep max.

For those who have watched him on the field, Rink’s “functional strength” is real, matching his weight room prowess. His notable 30 tackles for loss are nothing to sneeze at, especially when you realize that he did that against 6A Texas football competition.

Outside of his summer visit to Texas A&M, Aggie commit Landon Rinks will shut down the remainder of his recruiting visits

On Wednesday morning, 2025 4-star defensive lineman Landon Rink, the son of former Texas DL Shane Rink, went the complete opposite route of his presumed legacy-based recruiting, committing to Texas A&M over Ohio State and Oklahoma, as the Longhorns weren’t even considered in his final group.

He joins the Aggies’ impressive 2025 class as the fifth commit and the third defender, joining 4-star cornerback Deyjhon Pettaway and 4-star linebacker Kelvion Riggins, who committed earlier this year. On tape, Rink is one of the quicker 250-plus defensive linemen in the country, exploding off the snap consistently.

Texas A&M’s 2025 visitors list is growing by the day, as 4-star linebacker Noah Mikhail will make his way to College Station on March 21; it has now been confirmed that 4-star DL Landon Rink will take two visits to CSTAT on March 26, and April 20, which is surely a good sign for head coach Mike Elko and his staff.

Consistently ranked as one of the top defensive linemen in the cycle, Rink is heading into his senior season at Cy-Fair HS in Cypress, Texas, and is coming off an impressive 2023 junior campaign, recording 71 tackles (56 solo tackles), 30 tackles for loss, and 15 sacks on the year.
