Jayson Tatum will make history with his upcoming contract extension

Jayson Tatum is expected to sign a historic Supermax contract during the offseason.

Jayson Tatum is eligible for a Supermax contract extension this summer. The Boston Celtics star helped the franchise snap a 16-year drought on Monday (June 17) as the Celtics won their 18th banner with a gentleman’s sweep over the Dallas Mavericks. Tatum was named to both the All-Star and All-NBA First Team for his regular season performances.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, Tatum is expected to sign a contract worth approximately $315 million over five years. That deal would make Tatum the highest-paid player in NBA history while also seeing him leapfrog his teammate Jaylen Brown, who has shouldered that crown following his own Supermax extension last season.

Tatum has evolved into a complete player this season. He has become an elite playmaker, high-level rebounder and underrated help defender. His status as one of the best players in the world has been cemented. As such, it’s unlikely he will receive the same level of scrutiny that Brown has throughout the season.

You can watch Wojnarowski’s report on Tatum’s contract situation by clicking on the embedded link above.

Details of Celtics championship parade announced

The Boston Celtics’ championship parade will happen on Friday (June 21) at 11 a.m.

The Boston Celtics are the 2024 NBA Champions. A gentlemen’s sweep saw Joe Mazzulla’s team ease past Luka Doncic and the Dallas Mavericks. Now, the City of Boston can begin preparing for the celebrations that are to come. Boston is renowned for its championship parades, with their duck boats often taking center stage.

On Tuesday (June 18), the Mayor of Boston, Michelle Wu, announced that the championship parade would take place at 11 a.m. on Friday (June 21). The celebrations will likely last throughout the day, and there will be a significant influx of Celtics fans from around the globe. Wu told NBC Boston that she is expecting ‘well over’ 1 million people to be in the city.

Wu also credited the Celtics organization for what it brings and provides to the community. Her comments mirror that of Kyrie Irving, who recently noted how the fan base is ingrained within the franchise.

With their win over Dallas on Monday, Boston earned its 18th NBA championship banner to become the most decorated franchise in league history.

As such, celebrations will likely rage on into the night and potentially into next season.

Exactly 16 years from the game that won the Celtics their 17th banner, the Celtics have done it again with a 106-88 Game 5 win over the Mavs.

Exactly 16 years from the game that won the Boston Celtics their 17th banner, the Celtics have done it again with a 106-88 Game 5 win over the Dallas Mavericks to win their league-record, long sought-after Banner 18.

Closing out the series on their own home floor of TD Garden this past Monday (June 17) evening, the Celtics, their fans, and the wider NBA world reacted to the coronation of this team after so many near misses. The Boston Celtics are NBA champions

With the win, the Celtics have reclaimed the sole position of the team that has won more titles in league history.

The Boston Celtics are your 2024 NBA Champions after beating the Dallas Mavericks in the 2024 NBA Finals five games to one, closing out the series on their own home court of TD Garden this past Monday (June 17) night with a 106-88 victory to secure the long-coveted Banner 18.

With the win, the Celtics have reclaimed the sole position of the team that has won more titles in league history than any other ball club from the Los Angeles Lakers, who had tied Boston with 17 in the pandemic bubble. The victory has also transformed the Celtics as a longtime almost-but-not-quite team that had made many deep postseason runs over the preceding years.

To talk it over, the hosts of the CLNS Media “How Bout Them Celtics!” podcast, Jack Simone and Sam LaFrance, sat down postgame to take it all in. Take a look at the clip embedded below to hear what they had to say.

Kyrie Irving patiently waited on the court to comfort every Mavs teammate after NBA Finals loss

Super classy move by Kyrie.

On Monday, Kyrie Irving did not win an NBA championship with the Dallas Mavericks. Still, he didn’t let the realization of that moment stop him from remembering what was important: his teammates.

With Boston Celtics-colored confetti falling around him, Kyrie Irving could have jetted off to the visitors’ locker room, and no one would have blamed him. Instead, after paying his respects to the Celtics, he waited for every Mavs player to leave the court.

In a new video from Monday night’s festivities, Kyrie daps up a few people before patiently waiting for his teammates and several Mavs staff members to walk toward him so he could encourage and comfort them.

Jayson Tatum unoriginally quoted Kanye West after doing his best post-title Kevin Garnett impression

Jason, please. Leave Kanye West out of this.

Jayson Tatum is probably having a little too much fun after winning his first championship with the Celtics. After Boston unraveled the Mavs, Tatum was on the mic at an event quoting Kanye West. YES. KANYE WEST.

Look, Jayson Tatum. We get it. You’re feeling stupendous right now after working so hard to win a title with Boston. You heard the noise. You heard what people said about you and Jaylen Brown. So, after winning, you went full Kevin Garnett and asked, “What they gon’ say now?”

Truthfully, that was a dope line, right? You’re a champ. So, there’s not a whole lot people can really say about what you’ve done for the Celtics. But Jayson, seemingly quoting Kanye West in a club? How long have you been holding on to that one? WHERE IS THE ORIGINAL CONTENT?!

As we suspected, fans rightfully clowned Jayson for his Kanye moment. Here are some of the hysterical things they said:

Jaylen Brown named 2024 NBA Finals MVP

Jaylen Brown wins the Bill Russell Trophy after being named the 2024 NBA Finals MVP.

The Boston Celtics won the 2024 NBA Finals Monday night at TD Garden, earning the franchise an NBA-best 18th title. After the game, Jaylen Brown was named the 2024 NBA Finals MVP, earning the Bill Russell Trophy in the process.

Brown averaged 20.8 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 5.0 assists for the series, and was a consistent and crucial offensive weapon for Boston. He also logged 1.6 steals tonight. His defense was arguably more important for the Celtics, as was his leadership. Now the longest-tenured member of the team, he helped guide his team past a high-octane Dallas Mavericks team with relative ease. Outside of Game 4, Boston was the superior club for the entire 2024 NBA Finals, thanks in no small part to the way Brown led his team.

Eleven members of the media voted on the award, and Brown took home seven votes. Jayson Tatum was the only other player to receive a nomination.

Jayson Tatum shared a beautiful moment with his son after the Celtics won the 2024 NBA Finals

This was such a great moment between Jayson Tatum and his son, Deuce.

Boston Celtics superstar Jayson Tatum is officially an NBA champion, and he’s got the celebration of a lifetime with his son to remember it by.

After the Celtics topped the Dallas Mavericks in Game 5 of the 2024 NBA Finals, Tatum became very emotional about the seismic moment for his team and his career. He also delivered his version of the Kevin Garnett moment after the 2008 NBA Finals.

After the win, Tatum shared a really special moment with his son, Deuce, as he hoisted him up in the air and gave him a big hug as the two soaked in winning an NBA championship together.

This was such a special moment between father and son, as the younger Tatum will always remember the night his dad won a title with the Celtics.

When it comes to family bonding, celebrating an NBA Finals win with your son is pretty hard to top if you ask us.
