Both teams produced 11 hits in the game, but Grand Canyon earned six RBIs while Nebraska earned five. The Huskers also coughed up two errors, one of them resulting in a run for the Antelopes.

Josh Caron led Nebraska in the batter’s box right out of the game, delivering a three-run home run in the first inning. Caron finished the night with two hits and three RBIs. Cayden Brumbaugh produced the other two RBIs for Nebraska, hitting sacrificial flies in the fifth and seventh innings.

Will Walsh started on the mound for the Huskers and pitched for 3.0 innings. The Huskers built a 6-0 lead before the Antelopes scored their lone run in the seventh. Nebraska drove in three more runs in the eighth and two runs in the ninth to finish with its most runs scored in a game. The Huskers earned their 11 runs off 17 total hits.

Josh Caron hit two home runs for Nebraska, one in the first inning and one in the eighth, producing five RBIs. Tyler Stone drove in two more RBIs for the Huskers off two hits.

Brett Sears started on the mound for Nebraska, facing 22 total batters. Sears earned the win, throwing seven strikeouts and surrendering just two hits through 6.0 innings. Freshman Ty Horn took over for the remainder of the game, facing 13 batters. Horn got the save by throwing two strikeouts and giving up two hits and a run.

The Huskers didn’t earn their first runs until the fourth inning, with the game remaining scoreless up until then. Nebraska did finish the night with nine hits and six RBIs to produce its seven runs.

Dylan Carey started things off for the Huskers with his lone hit of the game. Carey delivered an RBI double in the fourth. Tyler Stone then brought Carey in with a two-run home run to push Nebraska’s lead to 3-0.

Josh Caron brought in the next two runs in the fifth with an RBI triple. This hit drove in Riley Silva before a throwing error sent Caron home plate as well. Garrett Anglim hit a sacrificial fly in the sixth to drive in a run. Stone then hit a double in the ninth for Nebraska’s final run of the game.

Drew Christo started on the mound for Nebraska, pitching for six innings. Christo faced 25 batters in the game and threw four strikeouts and surrendered seven hits and a run. Jackson Brockett and freshman Tucker Timmerman pitched for the remainder of the game, facing a combined 13 batters and surrendering one hit and one run.

The Nebraska baseball team entered its second day of Shriners Children’s College Showdown for a Top 25 battle with No. 21 Texas Tech. The Huskers squared off with the Red Raiders throughout the game, but surrendered three runs in the ninth, resulting in the loss.

Texas Tech took the lead in the second inning, but Nebraska tied the score at 3-3 in the fifth inning. The Huskers finished the game with ten hits but only produced two RBIs.

Dylan Carey drove in the tying in the fifth, earning his lone hit of the game with an RBI single to bring in Joshua Overbeek. Overbeek led Nebraska in the batter’s box, going 4-of-5.

The Huskers commenced their 2024 season at the Shriners Children’s College Showdown in Arlington, Texas. After spending most of the game scoreless, Nebraska took down the Bears 4-1.

The Huskers and Baylor didn’t earn their first runs until the sixth but tied 1-1 until the eighth. Nebraska earned another run in the eighth before pulling away in the ninth by scoring two more runs.

The Huskers earned five hits and four RBIs in the win, with Dylan Carey leading the way in the batter’s box. Carey earned two hits, two RBIs and two doubles, bringing Nebraska’s first two runs of the game. Garrett Anglim drove in the third run for the Huskers by starting the ninth with a home run. Cayden Brumbaugh batted in the final run in the ninth, finishing the game with two hits, an RBI and a run.

Brett Sears started on the mound for Nebraska, facing 20 batters. Sears threw a career-high seven strikeouts while allowing three hits and a run. Freshman Tucker Timmerman took over for Sears and earned the win. Following an inning pitched by Kyle Perry, Casey Daiss earned the save in the ninth.

Nebraska Baseball set to start season in Dallas

The Nebraska Cornhuskers will start their 2024 season on Friday against Baylor as part of the Shriners Children’s College Showdown.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers 2024 baseball season will get underway this weekend as the Huskers head to Dallas, Texas to play at the Shriners Children’s College Showdown.

The Huskers will begin the weekend with a matchup against Baylor and will also play Texas Tech and Oklahoma on Saturday and Sunday. Also taking place in the showdown is the Oregon Ducks and Tennessee Volunteers, however, the Huskers will face neither program.

The neutral site contests will take place at Globe Life Field, the home of the defending World Series champions, the Texas Rangers.

This season, the Huskers will be looking to improve upon a 33-23-1 record from 2023 which included a conference play record of 15-9.

The Huskers are entering year five under head coach Will Bolt, a former Husker himself. The Huskers through his first four seasons have collected winning records in each of the last three seasons including a 34-14 record in 2021 that resulted in a trip to an NCAA Regional, he also earned Big Ten Coach of the Year honors for the Huskers accomplishments that season.

Overall, the Huskers are 97-75-1 all-time under Bolt’s direction.

Notably, the Huskers are projected to be one of the Big Ten’s best programs this season and were picked to finish fifth in the Big Ten preseason poll.

Alabama Baseball to compete in 2024 Frisco Classic

The Alabama baseball team will travel to Frisco, Texas in March to compete in the 2024 Frisco Classic.

The Alabama baseball team will be traveling to Frisco, Texas during the 2024 season to play in the 2024 Frisco Classic. The event will take place from March 1-3 at Riders Field, the home stadium to Texas Rangers’ Double-A affiliate, the Frisco Roughriders.

The four teams competing in the 2024 Frisco Classic are Arizona, Dallas Baptist, Indiana, and Alabama.

Alabama will play each of the three teams in a round-robin format. On March 1, the Crimson Tide will take on Indiana. On March 2, Alabama will take on Arizona.

The Crimson Tide will conclude the weekend against Dallas Baptist on March 3.

Alabama will have a number of new faces and coaches next season. This will be a good test for the Crimson Tide to discover their identity early on in the season.
