Commanders WR Terry McLaurin named one of the NFL’s top 100 players

McLaurin is one of the top NFL’s top 100 players again.

By his standards, Washington Commanders wide receiver Terry McLaurin had a down season in 2023. Yes, McLaurin went over 1,000 yards receiving for the fourth consecutive season, but it took a wide receiver screen late in the game for McLaurin to get him over the mark.

Still, despite all the chaos around him, 11 different quarterbacks in five seasons, McLaurin is in rare company.

The NFL Network recently revealed its top 100 players for 2024, and McLaurin made the list again. McLaurin was ranked No. 97 — down four spots from last year.

McLaurin has played with 10 different starting QBs since entering the league in 2019, but he still finds ways to produce. Case in point, McLaurin can become the first player to post five straight seasons of 1,000-plus receiving yards with each coming with a different primary starting QB. Heading into training camp, Around The NFL’s Kevin Patra ranked McLaurin’s connection with rookie QB Jayden Daniels as the fifth-best rookie-to-veteran duo.

The NFL got it wrong—it’s 11 quarterbacks. When their first connection happens, Jayden Daniels will be the 12th quarterback McLaurin has caught a pass from since entering the NFL. The Commanders hope that number stays at 12 for a long time.

McLaurin and everyone on Washington’s roster deserve a pass for last season. McLaurin is hungry to put 2023 behind him.

Commanders DT Jonathan Allen leaps up in Top 100

Jonathan Allen makes a huge jump in the NFL’s top 100 players’ list.

Jonathan Allen has moved up the NFL Top 100 List.

Friday night, the NFL released numbers 51 through 60, and the former Alabama Crimson Tide defensive tackle continues to move up in the eyes of current NFL players.

Allen came in at number 52 in this year’s list, one spot behind Jets new quarterback Aaron Rodgers and one ahead of Buccaneers wide receiver Mike Evans.

In the 2022 Top 100 list, Allen was the only Washington player to make the list when he came in at number 88. Thus Allen is becoming more highly esteemed by his fellow NFL players, evidenced by his leaping up 36 spots in this year’s list to 52.

Allen has been a Pro Bowler in the 2021 and 2022 seasons. Last season (2022), Allen contributed 65 tackles (44 solo, 21 assists), 16 tackles for a loss, 17 quarterback hits and 7.5 quarterback sacks.

Washington, in this year’s list, is thus far also represented by Terry McLaurin. The former Ohio State wide receiver broke through into the Top 100 list for the first time when he appeared earlier at number 94.

With Allen coming in at No. 52 this season, the question is raised, “Will Commanders defensive tackle Daron Payne make the top 100 list this year?”
