With NFL free agency and the new league year fast approaching, GM Howie Roseman and his staff will start prepping to have four of the first 100 picks.

2023 NFL Draft order: Raiders will have the 7th overall pick

It’s official: the Raiders will have the 7th overall pick in this year’s draft

Coming into the NFL’s final weekend, the Raiders were looking at a pick anywhere from 6-10 in the draft based on the results of four games. And in terms of draft position, all but the final result worked in their favor. It has led to the Raiders landing the 7th overall pick in April’s draft.

The four game results that would’ve moved the Raiders up four spots this weekend were a Raiders LOSS, Falcons WIN, Panthers WIN and Rams WIN.

Raiders lost to start out the weekend. Then the Falcons and Panthers beat the Buccaneers and Saints respectively in the early Sunday games. That just left the Rams facing the Seahawks.

The Rams looked like they might pull it out, but a running into the kicker penalty on a punt kept the Seahawks drive alive and they drove for a game-tying field goal. Then the Seahawks went on to win it in OT on a game-winning field goal.

The Lions and Packers play Sunday evening, but neither team will affect the top 13 picks.

As a result, here’s what the top 13 will look like:

1. Chicago Bears
2. Houston Texans
3. Arizona Cardinals
4. Indianapolis Colts
5. Seattle Seahawks (via DEN)
6. Detroit Lions (via LAR)
7. Las Vegas Raiders
8. Atlanta Falcons
9. Carolina Panthers
10. Philadelphia Eagles (via NO)
11. Tennessee Titans
12. Houston Texans (via CLE)
13. New York Jets

2023 NFL Draft order: Raiders currently sit at 8 with 6th overall in reach

Raiders currently sit at 8 overall in the Draft with 6th overall in reach

Just one game remains in the 2023 season. That game will be the first one played will be the first this weekend when they welcome the AFC West champion Kansas City Chiefs.

The Chiefs are gunning for the number one seed in the AFC with the Bills standing in their way. So, they have plenty of motivation to win. And odds are that’s just what they’ll do.

The Raiders are out of playoff contention and currently sit at pick 8 overall  according to Tankathon.com. Just .001 in strength of schedule behind the the Falcons for pick seven and .003 in SoS ahead of the Panthers at pick nine.

Should the Raiders fall to the Chiefs, they would finish the season with a 6-11 record and could move as high as 6th overall.

Should they somehow beat the Chiefs, not only would they take down a bitter division rival, but they would have the satisfaction of ensuring the Chiefs will not have a first round bye in the playoffs.

The downside to such a win would be their draft position could potentially fall out of the top ten.

2023 NFL draft: Updated 1st-round order after Week 16

Here’s what the first-round order would look like if the 2023 NFL draft took place after Week 16

We’ve only got two weeks left in the 2022 NFL regular season, and there’s still plenty of potential for movement at the top of the 2023 NFL draft order.

The Houston Texans’ upset win over the Tennessee Titans last week narrows their lead for the No. 1 overall pick, which the Chicago Bears nipping at their heels. The next three teams on the list have four wins each, so the top five slots could see some changes over the final two weeks.

Here’s what the first-round order would look like if next year’s draft took place after Week 16 (via Tankathon):

2023 NFL Draft order: Raiders sit at 9 overall after Week 16

Raiders sit at 9 overall in draft order after Week 16 games

The win over the Patriots last week briefly had people wondering if they might have a shot at making a playoff run. Then they went to Pittsburgh on Christmas Eve and ensured they would finish this season with a losing record.

So, now, sitting at 6-9 on the season, the conversation is again shifting to the draft where the Raiders are sitting inside the top ten.

The Raiders currently are in line for the 9th overall pick. Here is what the top ten looks like according to Tankathon.com.

1. Texans 2-12-1
2. Bears 3-12
3. Seahawks (from DEN 4-11)
4. Cardinals 4-11
5. Colts 4-10-1
6. Falcons 5-10
7. Lions (from LAR 5-10)
8. Panthers 6-9
9. Raiders 6-9
10. Eagles (from NO 6-9)

With two games left, the Raiders could still pick as high as third overall. They end the season with two of their toughest matchups against the 49ers and Chiefs.

Raiders take No. 8 spot in 2023 NFL Draft order following Week 14

With 4 games remaining, Raiders currently sit in the 8th spot in the 2023 draft order

Week 14 is complete, which means we are officially more than three quarters of the way through the NFL season. With just four games remaining, most teams are either gunning for playoff berths, or moving around the draft order. The Raiders are leaning more toward the latter.

With the loss to the Rams on Thursday Night, the Raiders’ already slim playoff hopes took a huge hit. Now they sit at 5-8 on the season, needing to run the table and have a lot more things go their way to get to the postseason.

Currently they are closer to the top of the draft than they are to being among the playoff teams.

With the final game of the week now complete, and the Cardinals losing to the Patriots, the top ten draft order looks like this:

1. Texans
2. Seahawks (via DEN)
3. Bears
4. Lions (via LAR)
5. Eagles (via NO)
6. Cardinals
7. Colts
8. Raiders
9. Panthers
10. Falcons

The range for the Raiders is still close to wide open. This means they technically could end up anywhere in the draft order from 1-32. Albeit quite unlikely they would hit either end of that spectrum as one would require losing out and the other would be winning out, including the playoffs.

Though, a top-three pick isn’t far-fetched at all. Currently, those spots are occupied by three-win teams followed by a group of four-win teams.

From here on out, that window of possible draft positions will get smaller.
