Every now and then, golf can dazzle us with a terrific shot, a star validating their ranking, or some good old-fashioned pettiness.
But I can’t say I’ve ever seen what Shae Wools-Cobb did during the 2023 New Zealand Open before. During the tournament happening this weekend, Wools-Cobb was trying to dig himself out of a rough. When the Australian golfer made proper contact with his ball, he also hit another one — that was already buried in the grass.
Wools-Cobbs’ confused reaction in trying to figure out what just happened should say it all. This simply does not happen all that often … if ever.
You never have seen it all in golf, right?!?
Shae Wools-Cobb, batting for the @NZOpenGolf title, hits his ball AND another buried underneath it in the rough at Millbrook.
Bizarre.

To be clear, the weird can and does happen in golf. But for someone to hit a ball hidden in the grass for who knows how long is just vexing. A pure coincidence that happened to be caught on camera in the middle of a tournament.
