Boston Celtics All-Star Jaylen Brown’s best plays in 2022-23 so far

To celebrate the plays that got Marietta’s favorite son considered for such an honor, the folks behind the NBA’s official Youtube channel put together a clip of the best plays from Brown’s 2022-23 season so far.

Star Boston Celtics shooting guard Jaylen Brown is officially a reserve for the 2023 NBA All-Star Game. He will head to Salt Lake City, Utah, for the week of festivities capped by the game, the Georgia native’s second.

Borderline All-NBA level play propelled the former Cal-Berkeley standout into the game. At times this season, Brown has looked like the best player on the court despite teammate Jayson Tatum being a Most Valuable Player candidate. The duo are thriving and pushing one another to new heights.

To celebrate the plays that led to Marietta’s favorite son being considered for such an honor, the folks behind the NBA’s official YouTube channel put together a clip of the best plays from Brown’s 2022-23 season so far.

James Harden was astonishingly left off the All-Star team, and NBA fans were flabbergasted

How could ANYONE overlook Harden???

The 2023 NBA All-Star reserves were announced on Thursday night, and there weren’t too many surprises. I mean, obviously, guys like Joel Embiid and Ja Morant earned their spots. But, at the same time, there will usually be some fervor over players who “deserved” the honor and those who didn’t amongst the notable snubs. (Uh, Jalen Brunson? Hello?)

Though, with everyone in the account, the most shocking superstar left off the constellation of All-Stars might have been the Philadelphia 76ers’ James Harden. Harden is, of course, Embiid’s primary running mate for a Philadelphia locked in a battle at the top of the Eastern Conference standings. And the guard has been an efficient, distributive machine, averaging 21.4 points, 11 assists, and 6.4 rebounds per game.

Evidently, this line for a contender somehow wasn’t enough for Harden to garner his 11th career All-Star selection. This was how he responded on Instagram:

To say the least: the NBA world was unhappy seeing Harden not rewarded for his tremendous efforts thus far.

NBA All-Star reserves 2023: All 14 reserves for each conference, including Joel Embiid and Ja Morant

Here’s a look at the NBA’s All-Star reserves.

Folks, the 2023 NBA All-Star game is all set. We finally have a complete look at the rosters for 2023.

Last week, the NBA All-Star starters were officially named with LeBron James and Giannis Antetkounmpo as the headliners. There were a few surprises here and there (looking at you, Zion Williamson), but for the most part, the rosters came and went without controversy.

Now, we’ve finally gotten to the part that will shake things up quite a bit. The All-Star reserves always get people riled up in this year’s crop will be no different. These selections are made by the NBA’s coaches and, each year, there’s always a player or two there the fans seem to want to swap out for someone else.

The reserves were officially named on Thursday. Here’s a look the results.

The plays that made star Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum a 2023 All-Star starter

What has the St. Louis native done in the Celtics’ 2022-23 campaign thus far to garner one of the top honors in the league this season? Watch this clip to learn.

Just under a week ago today, star Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum learned along with the rest of us that he had been elected to be an All-Star starter in the game’s frontcourt. Elected to one of the three slots reserved for the non-backcourt players in the annual exhibition tilt by a combination of media, player, and fan votes, Tatum’s ascension to such an honor seemed almost inevitable with his Most Valuable Player-caliber season so far.

What has the St. Louis native done in the Celtics’ 2022-23 campaign thus far to garner one of the top honors in the league this season? While most fans of the ball club have a very clear picture through following their favorite team, some of us might need a reminder.

To such an end, the NBA’s official Youtube channel put together a highlight reel of Tatum’s best plays this season for those of us who need more evidence — and the rest of us who have seen it already but want to revel in it just the same.

Jayson Tatum earns starter honors for 2023 NBA All-Star Game

Boston’s Jayson Tatum was named a starter at this year’s NBA All-Star Game, marking his fourth consecutive All-Star nod and first career start.

Boston Celtics forward Jayson Tatum will serve as a starter for the Eastern Conference during the 2023 NBA All-Star Game in Salt Lake City in February. This is Tatum’s fourth All-Star nod for his career and first time earning starting honors. Tatum joins Kevin Durant and Giannis Antetokounmpo in the starting frontcourt for the East.

Celtics guard Jaylen Brown was not named as one of the starters in the starting five, but will almost assuredly be listed as one of the All-Star reserves in the East in the coming days. The Eastern Conference All-Star starters in the backcourt will be Kyrie Irving and Donovan Mitchell. When Jaylen Brown is eventually named an All-Star, it will be his second time heading to the NBA’s trademark exhibition.

Tatum is averaging 31.0 points, 8.6 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game in his sixth year in the league, all career-bests for the former Duke Blue Devil. Jaylen Brown, meanwhile, is logging 26.9 points, 71. rebounds, and 3.3 assists per contest. Fan votes accounted for 50% of the voting, while media and player votes rounded out the selection process.

Boston’s Jaylen Brown rises to third in 2023 All-Star East backcourt fan vote; Jayson Tatum extends lead in frontcourt third place

A new round of fan voting returns is in for the 2023 NBA All-Star Game, with the relative positions of the Boston Celtics’ two star forwards Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown having improved with them.

A new round of fan voting returns is in for the 2023 NBA All-Star Game, and the positions of the Boston Celtics’ two star forwards Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown having improved.

In the case of the former, the St. Louis native has solidified his third-place position among Eastern Conference forwards. With at 4.5 million votes, Tatum leads Philadelphia 76ers big man Joel Embiid by just over 100,000 votes. He trails Brooklyn Nets star Kevin Durant’s 5.8 million votes by a fair amount.

In the East backcourt, Brown has also moved up, passing Philadelphia 76ers star James Harden. With 2.1 million votes, Brown has about a 100,000 vote lead on Harden. He will not catch Donovan Mitchell of the Cleveland Cavaliers, who has 3.8 million votes.

That doesn’t mean Tatum or Brown are locked into their positions. The fan vote counts just 50% toward the overall vote. Media (25%) and player voting (25%) account for the rest.

Boston’s Jayson Tatum rises to third in frontcourt fan vote for 2023 NBA All-Star game; Jaylen Brown still fourth in backcourt

The second returns for the 2023 All-Star Game fan voting look like the Celtics will have an All-Star starter.

The second release of fan voting results for the 2023 NBA All-Star game have an improved outlook for the Boston Celtics per The Athletic’s Shams Charania. The team would have one starter if it were the fan vote alone that determined who made the cut for being an All-Star starter and voting ended today.

That of course is not the case. The player and media vote outweighs fan voting 3-to-1.

However, Celtics star forward Jayson Tatum has moved into one of the Eastern Conference’s three frontcourt starter spots with nearly 3.3 million votes. That places Tatum well behind Kevin Durant (4.5 million votes) and Giannis Antetokounmpo (4.4 million votes) and with a small edge over Joel Embiid. Tatum leads Embiid by about 40,000 votes.

The two backcourt spots are a tighter race. Boston star wing Jaylen Brown remains in fourth place with 1.5 million votes, trailing Kyrie Irving (3 million votes), Donovan Mitchell (2.7 million votes) and James Harden, though he is only about 60,000 votes behind Harden.

It seems likely that even with the boost he will likely see from the media and perhaps player votes that Brown will not start unless he begins to pick up votes in a hurry. Tatum ought to, barring a drop-off in fan support in the remaining time left for the fan vote to be completed.

Who will start for the East in the 2023 NBA All-Star Game?

Is Boston even guaranteed to have two representatives in this season’s All-Star game, or will they need to tighten up on the mediocre outings the Celtics have played of late?

Who will start for the league’s Eastern Conference in the 2023 NBA All-Star Game? The Boston Celtics are likely to have 2023 Most Valuable Player candidate Jayson Tatum in the mix for one of the frontcourt starter positions, but is there a realistic path for star shooting guard Jaylen Brown to make the East’s backcourt as a starter as well?

Who are the Celtics’ top players competing with for a bid? Is Boston even guaranteed to have two representatives in this season’s All-Star game, or will they need to tighten up on the mediocre outings the Celtics have played of late?

The hosts of the CLNS Media “A List” podcast recently talked about the prospective stars around the conference this season and broke down how the position rules may make or break Boston’s shot of even landing one starter.
