What does the 2022 NFL Playoff picture look like after Week 15?

Six teams have clinched playoff bids. Four teams have been eliminated. That leaves 22 teams jockeying for eight postseason spots.

With three weeks left in the 2022 season, we already know who has punched their ticket to the playoffs. The Philadelphia Eagles, Buffalo Bills, Kansas City Chiefs, Minnesota Vikings, San Francisco 49ers and Dallas Cowboys have each put down their deposits for a trip to Super Bowl 57.

There are four franchises who we know won’t join them. The Houston Texans, Chicago Bears, Denver Broncos and Arizona Cardinals all know their season ends once the curtain is drawn on Week 18. That leaves 22 teams to vie for eight postseason spots.

Some are longshots. Others are almost certain to make an appearance in the Wild Card round. Here’s what that 14-team field would look like if the season ended after 15 weeks.

What does the 2022 NFL Playoff picture look like after Week 14?

These are the 14 teams that would make the postseason if it started today — and the handful of clubs still vying for a playoff spot.

Week 14 may have been a breaking point in the race to Super Bowl 57. A string of potential contenders had their Lombardi Trophy hopes seriously dented as teams in need of big wins instead had their fatal flaws put on display for the world to see.

Sunday’s action wasn’t a problem for the Buffalo Bills or Philadelphia Eagles, however. Each earned wins — one easy (Philly) and one hard fought (Buffalo) — to maintain their status as the top seed in their respective conferences. With a 14-team playoff field looming, that puts these two Super Bowl favorites in line to secure much-needed byes and earn free passage to the Divisional Round of the 2022 NFL Playoffs.

Who will be joining them? Here’s how the current postseason picture sorts out, along with all the teams with a chance to move into playoff position over the season’s final four weeks.

What would the 2022 NFL Playoffs look like if they started after Week 12?

The Kansas City Chiefs and Philadelphia Eagles currently hold top seeds in each conference. Here are the 12 teams who’d join them.

The 2022 NFL season is officially two-thirds of the way done. While some teams have retreated from contention and have little to do but bide their time before next offseason, the bulk of the league remains in contention for 14 playoff slots.

No one has officially clinched a spot, but we’ve already got a good idea what the top halves of each bracket will look like. The Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins and Tennessee Titans (thanks to the weakness of the AFC South) can all be penciled on on the AFC side. In the NFC, the Philadelphia Eagles, Dallas Cowboys and Minnesota Vikings should all feel comfortable with a cushion of at least two games separating each from their conference’s eighth seed.
