March Madness Elite Eight can’t-miss parlay: Bank on this 3-teamer

Assessing NCAA Tournament betting odds and lines for the Elite Eight, with predictions and picks for the best parlay bet to make.

The Elite Eight for the NCAA Tournament is set. You have the perfect bracket so far, right? This has been one of the more memorable Big Dances in a while, as we have our first 15-seed in the Elite Eight thanks to Saint Peter’s defeating Purdue in the Sweet 16. Will North Carolina finally pluck the feathers of the Peacocks?

After looking at the NCAA Tournament odds and lines, here is a can’t-miss Elite Eight parlay among our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

We have just a single one-seed remaining, with a pair of two-seeds, a four-seed, a five-seed, an eight-seed, a 10-seed and the improbable 15-seed. There is a lot of value on the board this weekend.

NCAA Tournament Elite Eight can’t-miss parlay

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Saturday at 12:11 p.m. ET.

Leg 1: Villanova (+125 ML) vs. Houston – Saturday, 6:09 p.m. ET

The Wildcats are looking to get back to the Final Four, while the Cougars were just there last season. Head coach Kelvin Sampson has done a tremendous job in Houston, and the 5-seed is actually favored here over the 2-seed.

The thinking by the books is that Houston has the experience from last season to build upon, while G Collin Gillespie and Villanova lost in the regional semifinal last season.

The Wildcats are a tremendous value as an underdog. If you prefer to take the small amount of points instead, Villanova is 20-6 ATS in its last 26 NCAA Tournament games. I prefer them straight up, however.

[tipico]

Leg 2: Duke (-190 ML) vs. Arkansas – Saturday, 8:49 p.m. ET

Duke isn’t going home Saturday, although I think this is going to be a hotly contested game decided in the final moments at the free-throw line.

I’d never bet a money line like this straight up, but playing it as part of a 3-team parlay is A-OK. Hall of Fame Coach Mike Krzyzewski still has plenty of basketball remaining in his final NCAA Tournament, including a possible final showdown with North Carolina in the Final Four if both teams can get it done in the Elite Eight. Isn’t that what everybody wants to see? The TV ratings will be ridiculous, so CBS is certainly cheering for it.

Arkansas has had a nice run, dumping Gonzaga last time out. However, the Razorbacks shot the ball poorly and were lucky to get it done. Guards JD Notae and Stanley Umude just won’t be enough to snow under F Paolo Banchero, F Wendell Moore, Jr., G Jeremy Roach and company.

Leg 3: Saint Peter’s +8.5 (-115) vs. North Carolina – Sunday, 6:05 p.m ET

Last, but certainly not least, you have to include this year’s Cinderella team in your parlay, right? Saint Peter’s has ousted Kentucky, Murray State and Purdue to make history as the only 15-seed to advance to the Elite Eight. North Carolina should still be very confident, but also a little concerned.

The Peacocks have helped bettors ‘strut up’ to the betting window with a winning ticket in 10 consecutive games, going 10-0 ATS since a 14-point loss at Siena Feb. 20. That setback against the Saints was also their last straight-up loss.

UNC has caught fire themselves, as F Armando Bacot, G Caleb Love and F Brady Manek have really stepped up. The Tar Heels are 7-1 ATS across their last eight games overall. This is going to be a surprisingly close game, but the Saint Peter’s bubble is going to finally burst after a historic run. UNC will set up a Final Four date with nemesis Duke for the largest stakes ever in that rivalry.

Parlay payout: Bet $100 to win $642.05.

March Madness Sweet 16 can’t-miss parlay: Bank on this Thursday 3-teamer

Assessing NCAA Tournament betting odds and lines for the Sweet 16, with predictions and picks for Thursday’s best parlay bet to make.

Following a thrilling opening four days of March Madness, fans will get 12 high-stakes games this weekend, starting with four Sweet 16 matchups tipping off Thursday.

After looking at the NCAA Tournament odds and lines, here is a can’t-miss Sweet 16 parlay among our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Thursday’s slate has two of the remaining top-three seeds in action. The West Region’s No. 1 seed Gonzaga takes on fourth-seeded Arkansas in the opener, while the South’s No. 1 seed Arizona faces No. 5 seed Houston in the fourth and final game of the night.

The other two contests feature second-seeded Villanova battling 11th-seeded Michigan in the South, and Coach K’s second-seeded Duke squad taking on No. 3 seed Texas Tech in the West.

Thursday Sweet 16 can’t-miss parlay

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Wednesday at 2:20 p.m. ET.

Leg 1: Gonzaga -9.5 (-110) vs. Arkansas – 7:09 p.m. ET

The Gonzaga Bulldogs – No. 1 in the Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports – have yet to completely unleash their dominance in this tournament. However, they have still managed to get by their two first-round matchups, failing to cover the spread in both.

This game is going to be more about the one-dimensional Razorbacks. Arkansas is led by G JD Notae. At 18.4 points per game, he’s the SEC’s second-best scorer this season.

In postseason play, including two SEC tourney games, Notae is averaging 28.6% from the field and just 14.8 points per game (PPG), well below his regular-season averages of 41.4% and 18.9 PPG, respectively. The Razorbacks managed to get by against two double-digit seeds – No. 13 Vermont and No. 12 New Mexico State – but now facing the tournament’s top-overall seed, it will be far more difficult.

Also, the Zags are the only team with a top-nine offensive and defensive efficiency, according to KenPom. Against the best frontcourt in the nation, I expect Arkansas to struggle and Gonzaga to come out on top by double figures.

[tipico]

Leg  2: Michigan vs. Villanova UNDER 135.5 (-115) – 7:29 p.m. ET

The Villanova Wildcats are arguably the most well-coached team in the nation, and they typically impose their will on opponents. Meaning, this could be a slower game as ‘Nova ranks 342nd of 358 Division 1 teams in possessions per game. Villanova is 17-18 O/U this season.

While Michigan is 21-12 O/U, it only features two players, C Hunter Dickinson and G Eli Brooks, who averaged more than 10 points per game in the postseason. Villanova head coach Jay Wright will more than likely do all he can to ensure Dickinson doesn’t beat the Wildcats.

Villanova is 1-4 O/U in postseason play.

The ‘Cats will be able to take the Wolverines out of their typical style of play by slowing the pace down and limiting Dickinson. Along with a desire to have this game as a half-court battle, it’s unlikely points are in abundance here.

Leg 3: Houston +1.5 (-110) vs. Arizona – 9:59 p.m. ET

The Houston Cougars have taken down 12th-seeded UAB and No. 4 seed Illinois with relative ease to get to the Sweet 16. Some say their numbers are inflated, but Houston and Gonzaga are the only teams with top-10 offensive and defensive efficiency in the NCAA.

KenPom has the Cougars as the second-best team in the country.

Furthermore, the Cougars, are the best offensive rebounding team in the nation, according to TeamRankings.com. Considering Arizona gave up 20 offensive boards to TCU, Houston will have a major advantage on the glass, one that could decide the game.

The Wildcats have arguably the best scorer in the nation, G Bennedict Mathurin, who averaged 24.0 PPG in their two NCAA tourney wins – he averaged 17.3 PPG during the regular season. The Pac-12 Player of the Year willed the Wildcats past the Horned Frogs in a second-round game with a late 3-pointer to force overtime.

However, I’d best against that vs. a team far better than TCU. I’ll take Houston to finalize this winning parlay ticket.

Parlay payout: Bet $100 to win $581.39.

March Madness first-round, can’t-miss parlay: Bank on this Friday 3-teamer

Assessing NCAA Tournament betting odds and lines for the first round, with predictions and picks for Friday’s best parlay bet to make.

The first “real” day of the 2022 NCAA Tournament tipped off Thursday with 16 first-round games on the docket. The fun to continues Friday with 16 more first-round contests. After looking at the NCAA Tournament odds and lines, here is a can’t-miss, first-round Friday parlay among our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Tenth-seeded Loyola-Chicago and No. 7 seed Ohio State will kick off Friday’s action, which could be stacked full of upsets with every 14 vs. 3 matchup taking place throughout the day. The potential for smaller-scale upsets is here too with two 10 vs. 7 battles.

To finish the first round, fans should be primed for a terrific slate of games, especially from a betting standpoint.

Friday 3-teamer can’t-miss parlay

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday at 4:47 p.m. ET.

Leg 1: USC -1.5 (-120) vs. Miami, 3:10 p.m. ET

USC is basically being given a pick ’em situation and has a much more impressive resume. The No. 7 seed has taken down San Diego State, the Mountain West Tournament runner-up, and 12th-ranked UCLA.

While Miami features a win over Duke, the No. 10 seed lost to Alabama by 32 earlier in the season – the Crimson Tide are the sixth seed in the West Region.

USC is 3-2 against the spread (ATS) against ranked opponents, so it has been a good side against some of the nation’s top teams. As for Miami, it is just 3-8 ATS in non-conference games. The Hurricanes are also just 3-3 straight up in neutral-court games.

Miami’s strength, ranking 28th in field-goal percentage, plays to USC’s strength with a lengthy defense that holds opponents to the 14th-worst percentage in the nation.

Give me USC -1.5 (-120) to kick off this parlay.

[tipico]

Leg 2: Chattanooga +7.5 (-105) vs. Illinois, 6:50 p.m. ET.

The fourth-seeded Fighting Illini were just 4-6 ATS in non-conference games. They struggled down the stretch, covering just two of their last 9 games.

Led by C Kofi Cockburn, the Fighting Illini will need to showcase premier 3-point shooting when the 13th-seeded Mocs undoubtedly double down on the Illinois big man. The Mocs rank 25th in the nation in opponents’ 3-point percentage (29.9%).

As for scoring, the Mocs’ 75.1 points per game ranks 75th in the country. Chattanooga, the Southern Conference regular-season champion, won the league’s tournament – in overtime – to claim its NCAA tourney bid.

This is an upset most aren’t predicting, but the Fighting Illini, following a second-round exit as a No. 1 seed last year, could be primed to struggle against an underrated Chattanooga team.

Leg 3: TCU (-105 ML) vs. Seton Hall, 9:57 p.m. ET

We’ll wrap up this winning parlay ticket with the last scheduled game of the night.

The Big 12 was the best conference in college basketball this season. Ninth-seeded TCU was 18-11-3 ATS on the season, including 6-4-2 ATS against non-conference opponents.

Seton Hall, the No. 8 seed here, was 14-16 ATS this season.

The Pirates don’t have many high-profile wins, going 0-3 against fifth-ranked Villanova (two losses) and No. 13 Providence (one loss) this season. They are 1-5 if you add their 1-2 showing against No. 21 UConn.

TCU, on the other hand, beat third-ranked Kansas, the No. 1 seed in the Midwest, No. 11 Texas Tech, the 3 seed in the West, and 25th-ranked Texas, the East’s sixth seed.

Seton Hall’s regular-season top scorer, G Jared Rhoden, shot just 30.8% in the team’s two conference tournament games. If he continues to struggle, the Horned Frogs should cover with ease.

Given TCU has the 24th-ranked defensive efficiency, per Kenpom, I expect the Horned Frogs to make things challenging for Rhoden and company.

Parlay payout: Bet $100 to win $598.82.

March Madness first round can’t-miss parlay: Bank on this Thursday 3-teamer

Assessing NCAA Tournament betting odds and lines for the first round, with predictions and picks for the best parlay bet to make.

The “Big Dance” officially got underway Tuesday, and now it’s time for the real fun to commence Thursday. After looking at the NCAA Tournament odds and lines, here is a can’t-miss first-round (Thursday) parlay among our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Fans wet their beak with the “First Four” matchups Tuesday and Wednesday prior to the commencing of the Round of 64 following a thrilling Conference Championship weekend.

A South Region matchup between 11-seed Michigan and 6-seed Colorado State will kick-off the first round Thursday at 12:15 p.m. ET.

It’s the only 11 vs. 6 matchup Thursday, but it’s not the only upset-heavy matchup on the board. 12-seed New Mexico State vs. 5-seed UConn and 12-seed Richmond vs. 5-seed Iowa are two other common seed-specific upsets fans should be eyeing.

7-seed Murray State taking on 10-seed San Francisco in Indianapolis is an underrated game as it is the only Thursday matchup of two top-28 Kenpom teams.

Thursday 3-teamer can’t-miss parlay

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Wednesday at 12:55 p.m. ET.

Leg 1: Colorado State (+102) vs. Michigan, Thursday 12:15 p.m. ET.

The theme of this parlay is going to be higher seeds that are going to be public underdogs, and it kicks off with a six-seed that is entering with a plus-money money line odds.

The Rams have an impressive resume, having beaten nine-seed Creighton, eight-seed San Diego State, eight-seed Boise State and now-eliminated 12-seed hopeful Wyoming. It has just five losses on the season, three of which were to teams in the tournament.

It has 2 junior guards, David Roddy and Isaiah Stevens, averaging 19.4 and 14.9 points per game, respectively.

It should have a 6-foot-9 or 6-foot-10 player on the court at all times as well that should able to counter Michigan’s top-scoring option, C Hunter Dickinson. Michigan also has some bad losses to teams like UCF and Minnesota.

I’ll take experience and elite guard play to win as the higher seed at plus-money odds.

[tipico]

Leg 2: Boise State (+122) vs. Memphis, Thursday 1:45 p.m. ET.

Memphis has too many bad losses, but it continues to be a strong public play with several high-profile prospects. We’ll take Boise State and fade the public.

Memphis has losses to Georgia, Tulane, ECU and UCF on the season. It gained traction by beating 5th-seed Houston twice, although the Cougars were without their best player, G Marcus Sasser, for both games.

The third and most important time they met — in the AAC Tournament final — Houston ripped Memphis 71-53.

Boise comes in with Kenpom’s 19th-ranked defense, allowing just 60.8 points per game. Its three leading scorers are seniors and the experience and defensive aptitude are all I need to favor the Broncos in this battle.

Leg 3: North Carolina -3.5 (-110) vs. Marquette, Thursday 4:30 p.m. ET

Marquette doesn’t have the size to hang with North Carolina. While the Golden Eagles do start 6-foot-10 F Kur Kuath, he averages just 19.1 minutes per game.

Three of Marquette’s top fives scorers, and two of its top 3 scorers, are freshmen. North Carolina doesn’t start a single freshman and is led by a 6-foot-10 F Armando Bacot, who averages 16.5 points per game.

Marquette was just 5-6 against the spread (ATS) in non-conference games this season as well while UNC is 13-11-1 ATS as a favorite. Given the Tar Heels experience, I like them by more than 3 points to end this parlay.

Parlay payout: Bet $100 to win $856.12.

March Madness First Four can’t-miss parlay: Bank on this 3-teamer

Assessing NCAA Tournament betting odds and lines for the First Four, with predictions and picks for the best parlay bet to make.

The “Big Dance” officially gets underway Tuesday as two of the First Four matchups take place in Dayton, Ohio.

After looking at the NCAA Tournament odds and lines, here is a can’t-miss First Four parlay among our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Following a thrilling Conference Championship weekend, fans will be wetting their beak with these four matchups prior to the commence of the Round of 64.

Tuesday, we have No. 16 seed Texas Southern and No. 16 Texas A&M-Corpus Christie tipping off at 6:40 p.m. ET, followed by No. 12 Indiana facing No. 12 Wyoming.

Wednesday, also in Dayton, it’ll be No. 16 Bryant vs. No. 16 Wright State at 6:40 p.m. ET, followed by No. 11 Notre Dame vs. No. 11 Rutgers, scheduled to tip at 9:10 p.m. ET to finish off the First Four matchups.

See alsoFerris Mowers Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports

First Four can’t-miss parlay

Odds provided by Tipico Sportsbook; access USA TODAY Sports Scores and Sports Betting Odds hub for a full list. Lines last updated Monday at 1:47 p.m. ET.

Leg 1: Indiana -3.5 (-115) vs. Wyoming, Tuesday 9:10 p.m.

If there’s one team that oddly got screwed out of a guaranteed spot in the Round of 64, it’s Indiana.

Indiana knocked off Michigan, which is an 11 seed in the NCAA tourney, and went toe-to-toe with Iowa, which won the Big Ten Tournament. The Hoosiers actually were in prime position to upset the Hawkeyes in the Big Ten semifinals, holding a 9-point lead with 5 minutes to go. IU ranks 36th per KenPom.

Indiana F Trayce Jackson-Davis is the fourth-leading scorer in the Big Ten, averaging 19.1 PPG, and his size should give Wyoming issues.

Wyoming is just 14-17-1 against the spread (ATS) this season and lost to Boise State in the Mount West Tournament – BSU was the top seed and received a No. 8 seed in this NCAA Tournament. Wyoming has some bad out-of-conference losses to teams like Stanford.

Considering the ceiling Indiana has shown as the 178th-best adjusted strength of schedule for Wyoming, I expect the tested Hoosiers to come out by more than 3 points. Plus, they should have somewhat of a home-crowd advantage as Dayton is within 45 miles of the Indiana border.

[tipico]

Leg 2: Bryant vs. Wright State UNDER 153.5 (-108), Wednesday 6:40 p.m.

There are reasons to like the Over in this situation. Bryant’s adjusted pace (according to Kempom.com) is among the best in the nation. However, I’m not going to buy stock in the Bulldogs to continue their offensive dominance.

Bryant averaged 75.9 points per game (PPG), good enough to rank 59th in the nation, but its field-goal percentage didn’t reflect that at just 43.5%. It’s not a great 3-point shooting team either, connecting on just 30.9% from deep.

Bryant went Under in all 3 of its Northeast Conference Tournament games. When the going gets tough, pace may not be enough.

While Wright State was 2-1 O/U in the Horizon League Tournament, only one total eclipsed 145 and none went over 150. The Raiders average 75.4 PPG, yet sit 263rd in 3-point shooting (32.3%).

The two teams are a combined 8-10 O/U against non-conference opponents. Given their success is tied to pace and not shooting, I’ll take UNDER 152.5 (-115).

Leg 3: Rutgers (-105) vs. Notre Dame, Wednesday 9:10 p.m.

Ironically, both Rutgers and Notre Dame lost to teams in their respective conference tournaments that went on to win those tourneys. Both teams have had an immense amount of highs on the season.

Rutgers had a four-game winning streak in which it ripped off victories against four ranked teams: then-No. 13 Michigan State, then-No. 16 Ohio State, then-No. 14 Wisconsin and then-No. 12 Illinois.

On the other hand, Notre Dame features wins over current No. 2 seed Kentucky, No. 9 seed North Carolina and 10th-seeded Miami this season.

Rutgers definitely has more, high-quality wins. Also, Notre Dame’s strength has been in its 3-point shooting, ranking 18th, connecting on 38.0% of its attempts.

Rutgers, per Kenpom, is 43rd in adjusted-defensive rating. Having a win over the teams like Iowa, which is among the best in the nation at shooting, I’ll side with RUTGERS (-105) to lock down Notre Dame’s shooters and win outright.

Parlay payout: Bet $100 to win $602.98.
