The Jacksonville Jaguars haven’t received a lot of love from the nation’s football analysts as most project them to be amongst the worst teams in the NFL. Our USA TODAY comrade Nate Davis joined the party Thursday, giving the Jags a 3-13 record in his 2020 projections.

As a result, the Jags had the worse record in the AFC South and second-worst record in the league alongside the Chicago Bears and Carolina Panthers. The  only team who received a worst record were the New York Giants, who came in with a 2-14 record.

Jacksonville Jaguars (3-13): They’re scheduled to play eight home games in northern Florida for the first time since 2012 … but is it a product the locals will want to even see? Hard to discern what the Jags’ identity is or how many of their best players even want to be here.

Though my projections had the Jags winning twice as many games as Davis’, it’s easy to understand the lack of faith in the Jags under the current regime. After all, general manager Dave Caldwell only has put together one winning season out of seven. Meanwhile, coach Doug Marrone has only had one good season out of three with the Jags.

As for the players not wanting to be with the team, not everyone is on the same boat as disgruntled defensive end Yannick Ngakoue and former cornerback Jalen Ramsey. There are plenty of players in the locker room eager to turn things around and Gardner Minshew II continuing his growth could certainly help uplift the team which could use a spark.

And to answer Davis’ question about the fanbase, yes, they certainly seem excited to have games back in Jacksonville despite the uncertainty of the season due to the coronavirus. Included in their home schedule are games against their three divisional rivals in the Indianapolis Colts, Tennessee Titans and Houston Texans, as well as other notables like the Pittsburgh Steelers and Miami Dolphins for Thursday Night Football.
