Ohio State basketball game against Purdue moved to January 19

The Big Ten announced updates to the conference basketball schedule Wednesday. Ohio State’s game against Purdue will take place on Jan. 19.

The Ohio State men’s basketball team will now be playing the Purdue Boilermakers at Value City Arena on Tuesday, January 19. The game was originally scheduled for January 27, but the change was announced by the Big Ten on Wednesday. The game was originally scheduled to be played on January 27.

It’ll be the last of a two-game series between the two for the season, after the Boilermakers handed Ohio State its first conference loss of the season back on December 16 in West Lafayette 67-60.

Game time is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. EST on The B1G Network.

As we move throughout the season, knowing that flexibility will be key as we continue to move through the COVID-19 pandemic, we could see more adjustments. As they come along, we’ll continue to keep you posted.

Ohio State basketball: Updated ESPN game-by-game win probabilities for rest of season

We’ve had a handful of Big Ten games to evaluate, and it’s time for updated ESPN predictions for Ohio State basketball the rest of the way.

We’ve gone through this excercise for Ohio State basketball a few times since the season tipped off, and now that we’re a few games into the Big Ten season, we’re at it again. ESPN has a matchup predictor for each game on its website that provides the win probability using its BPI (Basketball Percentage Index). Now that there are some more data points that have gone into it, things have changed a wee-bit more.

The Big Ten is expected to be a monster this year and any team in the conference is going to be in for a Donnybrook each night out on the court, so even a mediocre record will look great in the eyes of the selection committee. The Bucks are off to a 1-2 start in the Big Ten after a close loss on the road against Northwestern, and that will surely change the outlook on the season according to ESPN.

We all know all these games won’t play out like the worldwide leader in sports programming believes, but it’s still fun to look at. So, here is the updated game-by-game win probabilities for each of Ohio State basketball’s remaining 2020-2021 schedule with a running win-loss record included.

We finally have what we hope is the finished product when it comes to Ohio State basketball’s 2020-2021 schedule. With the coronavirus pandemic turning many tournaments and locations upside down, it’s been an issue figuring out what was going to stick. Alas, the OSU athletic department released the entire schedule that consists of five non-conference games and twenty Big Ten contests. The season gets started just one week today when the Buckeyes host Illinois State at the Schott at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 25. That game will be nationally televised by either ESPN2 or ESPNU.

The last non-conference game is a road contest against Notre Dame on Tuesday, Dec. 8 as a part of the already announced ACC/Big Ten Challenge. The Big Ten season then tips off December 16 and will run through March 6.
