Jags WR DJ Chark heading to first Pro Bowl

The Jags will officially send a player from their offense to the Pro Bowl in WR DJ Chark.

DJ Chark Jr. was the most improved player on the Jacksonville Jaguars’ roster in the eyes of most fans and the phenomenal season he had has finally paid off as the team announced that he will be going to the Pro Bowl this month.

Chark, 23, accumulated 73 catches for 1,008 receiving yards and eight touchdowns, good for a team high in each category. He also became the first Jaguars receiver to register 1,000 yards receiving since Allen Robinson (2015) and the youngest to achieve the feat (also alongside Robinson).

The Jags drafted Chark in the second round of the 2018 draft with the No. 61 overall selection. He’ll join Robinson, Jimmy Smith, and his receivers coach Keenan McCardell as the only four Jags receivers to make the Pro Bowl in franchise history.

Colts’ Ryan Kelly named to 2019 Pro Bowl

Ryan Kelly gets his first Pro Bowl nod.

Indianapolis Colts center Ryan Kelly has been named to the 2019 Pro Bowl, the team announced Thursday.

Kelly will be replacing Pittsburgh Steelers center Maurice Pouncey, who has dropped out due to an injury. This is Kelly’s first Pro Bowl selection since entering the league as a first-round pick in the 2016 NFL Draft.

Kelly is coming off of a strong season that saw him play all 16 games for the first time since his rookie season. The talent has always been there as the anchor of the offensive line, but injuries have slowed down his progression in recent seasons.

Kelly is widely considered one of the best centers in the NFL. He’s certainly a force in run blocking and his pass protection gives the Colts an advantage every week.

The Colts have Kelly under contract for one more season—his fifth-year option—and then he will become an unrestricted free agent. That is unless the Colts get a contract extension done beforehand, which is in the realm of possibilities.

Kelly will be joining fellow offensive lineman Quenton Nelson and linebacker Darius Leonard has the Colts representatives at the Pro Bowl.

3 biggest Buffalo Bills Pro Bowl snubs

Here are three Bills that were snubbed on this year’s Pro Bowl vote.

The NFL announced its 2020 Pro Bowl selections Tuesday. The Bills, holding court among the league’s best with a 10-4 record, earned only one selection for the NFL’s all-star game.

Cornerback Tre’Davious White earned a spot among the league’s star-studded contest after years of being among snubbed players himself.

Buffalo’s record is a testament to the team-first mentality that the organization emphasizes. Still, several Bills deserved accolades and the opportunity to perform on this stage.

WR John Brown

John Brown has been a revelation for the Bills aerial attack, giving Buffalo its closest player to a No. 1 receiver in years. The veteran wideout has given quarterback Josh Allen a reliable option in all parts of the field this year, despite many tabbing him as nothing more than a vertical, speedy threat when he signed with the Bills.

Brown has demonstrated that he is more than just a burner, running precise routes and beating defenders out wide. Brown is tenth in the AFC in receptions (71) and seventh in receiving yards (1,007). When focusing solely on wide receivers, Brown is sixth in each category. This past week against the Steelers, Brown had 99 yards receiving, which gave the Bills their first 1,000-yard playmaker since Sammy Watkins in 2015.

Brown also threw a touchdown pass this season:

2020 NFL Pro Bowl: Predicting which Bears players should be selected

Before Tuesday’s reveal of the 2020 Pro Bowl rosters, here’s a look at some Bears players that should make the NFC roster.

Fans, coaches and even players have sounded off on the very best to play this season, and the NFL is set to announce their 2020 Pro Bowl rosters for the AFC and NFC on Tuesday night.

While the Chicago Bears have had an overall disappointing season — which officially ended shortly after last Sunday’s loss to the Green Bay Packers when Chicago was eliminated from playoff contention — there were some players that flashed during a somewhat dim season.

The Bears defense has allowed the third fewest points per game this season, but there have still been some underwhelming performances by some stars late this season. Still, cornerback Kyle Fuller and outside linebacker Khalil Mack are good enough to warrant them a spot on the Pro Bowl roster.

Chicago’s offense, on the other hand, has been disappointing from top to bottom. From quarterback to play caller. Well, except for receiver Allen Robinson, who just eclipsed 1,000 receiving yards on the season. It was the first time a Bears receiver accomplished the feat since Alshon Jeffery in 2014.

The Bears special teams have two dynamic return threats that should easily get nods at their respective positions. Kick returner Cordarrelle Patterson is not only the best returner in the NFL, but he’s having quite a season as a gunner, as well. Then there’s speedster punt returner Tarik Cohen, who ranks second in punt return yards with 284.

Here are five Bears players that should be selected for the 2020 Pro Bowl:

Which Bears players are having Pro Bowl seasons?

While the Bears haven’t lived up to expectations this season, there have been some players that have made their case for a Pro Bowl nod.

The Chicago Bears aren’t living up to their expectations this season, but there are several players that are playing some great football this season that should very much be in Pro Bowl consideration.

Here are 5 Bears that are having Pro Bowl years:

It’s an easy argument to make that Cordarrelle Patterson is the best kick returner in the league. Patterson is a threat every time he touches the ball, which he makes a point to do every chance he gets. And the numbers certainly back it up. After 13 games, Patterson has 755 kick return yards, which is the most in the NFL. His lone kick return touchdown against the Saints was 102 yards, the longest in the NFL this season. His 30.2 yards per return also ranks second in the NFL.

Josh Allen currently second in fan votes for AFC at DE position

While Josh Allen may not be getting the respect he deserves in the Defensive Rookie of the Year conversation, he’s been a hit on the Pro Bowl ballot. In fact, the Jacksonville Jaguars revealed that the rookie is currently second in terms of total fan votes for the AFC at the defensive end position.

Allen’s success on the Pro Bowl ballot comes after the rookie has put together a solid rookie campaign, accumulating 27 tackles, nine tackles for loss and eight sacks. Despite just having four starts to his name, his eight sacks are good for the most on the Jags’ roster, which is saying a lot as he plays alongside Calais Campbell and Yannick Ngakoue. That figure is also good for the most of any rookie, even Nick Bosa who is the favorite to win Defensive Rookie of the Year and has twice as many starts.

Allen was a player the Jags weren’t expecting to be available for the No. 7 overall pick in April’s draft, so when he fell to them it was an easy decision. With the team planning to get him even more involved, it’s possible he’ll continue to garner the support of Pro Bowl voters as his increased snaps could lead to more production.
